The Miracle of ChristmasAlice Brill[ English | Vietnamese ]
The greatest series of supernatural events ever seen on earth began with the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. Miracles surrounded Christ's birth and continued throughout His earthly ministry to bear abundant testimony that "truly this was the Son of God" (Matthew 27:54). During this busy Christmas season, let's pause for a moment to examine the supernatural life of Jesus Christ and to wonder at God's supernatural love for all people.
In addition to Jesus' supernatural birth, He lived a supernatural life, died a supernatural death, arose from the dead, and returned to Heaven by supernatural power. Jesus was not just an ordinary man. Jesus Christ was, and is, the eternal God. Why, then, did Christ leave the glory of Heaven to be born in Bethlehem and eventually to die on the cross? It was all because of God's supernatural love for mankind, a love that extends far beyond any human love. The Bible explains that, "For a good man some [people] would even dare to die. But God commendeth [demonstrates] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:7-8). Without that rescuing love, none of us would have any hope of salvation. We are all sinners-"there is none righteous, no, not one"-and the punishment for sin is death (Romans 3:10, 6:23). We cannot save ourselves by good deeds or devout living, for "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" in God's sight (Isaiah 64:6). Therefore, God provided His Son Jesus to bear the punishment of our sins in His own body on the cross. Trusting in Christ's sacrifice for us is the only way that we can find peace with God and entrance to Heaven. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). If you never have received Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior from sin, won't you do it now? The Bible promises that "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). Bow your head in prayer, admitting to God that you are a sinner and that you want to turn from your sins. Thank God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross and rose again so that you could have eternal life. Invite Him into your life as Savior and Lord. You can grow in your relationship with Christ by communicating with Him each day through Bible reading and prayer, attending a Bible-teaching church, and sharing the good news of God's supernatural love with others. The real miracle of Christmas is God's demonstration of love for all people through the Lord Jesus Christ. May His love fill your heart with peace and joy this Christmas and always.
