(Why There is Suffering Causing by Natural Disasters?)

Thi Thiên 50:15

 

“Trong ngày gian truân hãy kêu cầu cùng Ta:

Ta sẽ giải cứu ngươi, và ngươi sẽ ngợi khen Ta.”

(Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.)

 

 

I. Why Disasters and Suffering?

>The recent historic flooding in Louisiana may have prompted many people to question – “Why are there natural disasters that caused so much suffering in life?” (Qua trận lụt lớn vừa qua tại tiểu bang Louisiana, có lẽ nhiều người đang có sự thắc mắc… là tại sao có những thiên tai xẩy ra đem đến biết bao nhiêu là sự khổ sở cho đời sống của con người chúng ta?)

> People are asking – “If God is good, then why did the historic flooding happen?” (Nhiều người tự hỏi: “Nếu Chúa là Đấng tốt lành thì sao lại để trận lụt lớn này xảy ra?”)

# Not to mention other calamities… such as Tsunami in Asia that took more than 200,000 lives, earthquakes in India that killed a countless number of people? (Chưa nói đến những thiên tai khác như những cơn sóng thần xảy ra bên các nước Á Châu đã lấy đi mạng sống của trên 200,000 người, hay những trận động đất xảy ra bên nước Ấn Độ đã từng làm hại biết bao nhiêu người không đếm hết được.)

 

1) First, none of us may have a complete answer to this question. (Điều thứ nhất chúng ta phải chấp nhận đó là không có một ai có câu trả lời trọn vẹn cho câu hỏi này.)

# I want to remind you the story of Job and his friends – they wanted so much to know the answer for the cause of Job’s suffering that God allowed the devil to hurt him, his possessions, his servants, and his children… using fire from heaven and mighty wind, as described in Job 1:16/18-19 – “While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The fire of God fell from the heavens and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you…” 18 While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, “Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, 19 when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!” (Tôi muốn nhắc lại câu chuyện của cuộc đời ông Giốp và 3 người bạn của ông, họ nóng lòng muốn biết lý do tại sao Chúa lại cho phép ma quỉ dùng những thiên tai như lửa và gío lốc, để làm hại tài sản, những kẻ hầu, gia đình, con cái và chính cuộc đời của ông?”)

# Fire from heavens and mighty wind here were probably thunders and tornadoes… these were natural disasters that God allowed the devil to use to cause Job’s suffering.

> But at the end when God answered Job to the point that the only thing he could do was silent, because God is so great and mighty… that no one could completely comprehend His ways and His will to answer - why natural disasters and suffering happened. (Nhưng rồi cuối cùng khi Chúa trả lời cho Giốp thì ông chỉ biết ăn năn, yên lặng vì thấy được quyền năng của Chúa mà không một ai có thể hiểu hết được ý muốn qúa cao siêu của Ngài qua những thiên tai.)

# Job 39:37-38/42:6 – “Then Job answered the Lord: “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more… Therefore, I repent in dust and ashes.” (Tôi vốn là vật không ra gì, sẽ đáp chi với Chúa? Tôi đặt tay lên che miệng tôi. 38 Tôi đã nói một lần, song sẽ chẳng còn đáp lại; Phải, tôi đã nói hai lần, nhưng không nói thêm gì nữa… Vì vậy, tôi ăn năn trong tro bụi.)

> Don’t be prideful… and claim that you have all the answers… until you talk to God first. (Đừng bao giờ kiêu ngạo mà tự nghĩ mình có tất cả những câu trả lời… trước khi bạn nói chuyện với Chúa trước.)

 

> But according to the knowledge of God’s word, I humbly suggest few reasons for them. (Nhưng với sự hiểu biết lời Chúa, tôi trong sự hạ mình mong chia xẻ với quí vị vài lý do để chúng ta thông biết ý Chúa hơn qua những thiên tai này.)

 

2) First, no matter what has happened, through life tragedies, we as human should recognize our weakness and small-ness before the force of nature. (Điều thứ nhất, cho dù thiên tai nào xảy ra đi nữa, chúng ta ai nấy cũng nhận thức được sự yếu đuối và nhỏ bé của con người… trước những sức mạnh của thiên nhiên.)

# There is nothing human can do to stop a hurricane; we only can prepare to evacuate, even though we are intelligent to build air planes, computers, and satellites, and near future self-driving cars. (Không một ai có thể ngừng được một cơn giông tố; chúng ta chỉ lo sửa soạn việc di cư đi chỗ khác; mặc dầu con người chúng ta là dòng giống khôn ngoan nhất, có thể chế ra máy bay, máy điện tóan và vệ tinh nhân tạo, trong tương lai xe lái tự động.) 

# No one has the power to stop the rise of water to prevent flooding that has caused so much headaches and lost. (Không một ai có quyền lực nào để ngăn chận nước lụt dâng lên mà đã đem đến biết bao khổ sở cho gần cả triệu người.)

> Nature forces are something that human cannot control, but we just have to submit to it. (Sức mạnh của thiên tai là điều mà con người không điều khiển được, chỉ có bắt phục nó mà thôi.)

 

3) Secondly, through natural disasters, we recognize this world is not perfect at all. (Điều thứ hai, qua những thiên tai, chúng ta ý thức được cuộc sống này không toàn hảo.)

> There will always be some kind of virus, diseases or tragedies that would take away many lives. (Lúc nào cũng có những dịch lệ, thiên tai, bệnh tật lấy đi mạng sống của nhiều người.)

# After chicken flue, malaria, then westnile, now Zika – don’t know what will be next? (Sau nạn dịch gà là bệnh dịch Malaria, đến vi trùng west nile, và bây giờ phải đối phó với Zika – không biết còn dịch nào nữa không?)

> There will always be some natural disasters and diseases… that shorten the lives of many. (Lúc nào cũng có những tai họa thiên nhiên xảy ra lấy đi mạng sống của nhiều người.)

> We cannot avoid them; we cannot eliminate them; and the greatest disaster that all of us will have to face is death – it’s our greatest and last enemy, because this world is imperfect. (Chúng ta không thể thoát được nó, và một “bệnh dịch” mà ai cũng phải đối diện và chịu thua là sự chết; đây là kẻ thù dữ nhất và cuối cùng… bởi vì thế gian này là một thế giới không vẹn toàn.)

 

> In fact, the Bible explains the reason for the imperfect condition of this world is due to the corruption/decay of sin from the beginning. (Kinh Thánh giải thích lý do tình trạng không vẹn toàn của thế gian này là vì sự mục nát, tình trạng suy sụy, sa sút do tội lỗi gây nên.) 

# Romans 8:20-21 explains the fallen world – “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.” (Trong sách Rôma 8:20-21 có dạy điều này – “Vì muôn vật đã bị bắt phục sự hư không, chẳng phải tự ý mình, bèn là bởi cớ Đấng bắt phục. 21 Muôn vật mong rằng mình cũng sẽ được giải cứu khỏi làm tôi sự hư nát, đặng dự phần trong sự tự do vinh hiển của con cái Đức Chúa Trời.”)

 

> The fact that before Adam & Eve sinned, the world was in perfect condition; there is no death or suffering; until they sinned against God, then death, the greatest suffering enters into the world. (Trước khi tổ phụ loài người phạm tội thì thế giới này vẹn toàn, chưa có sự chết; cho đến khi Ađam và Êva phạm tội thì sự chết, sự đau khổ dữ nhất bắt đầu xen vào đời sống của loài người.)

# In Genesis 3:19 God said to Adam – “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground (death), since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Sáng Thế Ký 3:19 có chép lời rủa sả của Chúa cho Ađam như sau: “ngươi sẽ làm đổ mồ hôi trán mới có mà ăn, cho đến ngày nào ngươi trở về đất, là nơi mà có ngươi ra; vì ngươi là bụi, ngươi sẽ trở về bụi.”)

# Romans 5:12 declares the contagious of death to all – “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.” (Trong Rôma 5:12 tuyên bố sự chết di truyền đến mọi người – “Cho nên, như bởi một người mà tội lỗi vào trong thế gian, lại bởi tội lỗi mà có sự chết, thì sự chết đã trải qua trên hết thảy mọi người như vậy, vì mọi người đều phạm tội.”)

> Suffering from all kinds of natural or un-natural (man-causing) disasters is a part of this imperfect/decaying world – we cannot deny it, neither anyone can escape it. (Sự đau khổ đến từ thiên tai hay nhân tai là một phần của thế gian đang trong tình trạng sa sút, hư nát bởi tội lỗi mà không ai thoát được.)

# If you still don’t believe it, then go home and find your pictures 10, 20, 30 years ago… and compare to you now – do you see the wrinkles on your face, the gray hair on your head, the degrading of your body? (Nếu bạn chưa chấp nhận sự sa sút rõ ràng của thế giới này thì bạn hãy về tìm lại những tấm ảnh của mình 10, 20, 30 năm trước… mà so sánh với bây giờ có những nét da nhăn nheo, sợi tóc bạc, sức khỏe dảm yếu phải không?)

> Natural disasters can remind us that life is short.  (Thiên tai giúp nhắc nhở chúng ta cuộc đời là ngắn ngủi, chóng qua, như hơi nước mau tan… và rồi theo sau là sự phán xét định đóan cho cõi đời đời.)

 

4) Because of our human weakness and the imperfect condition of this world that we are living in, our spirit prompts us to seek for a better and perfect world? (Vì nhận thức sự yếu đuối của con người và tình trạng hư nát của thế gian qua những thiên tai, tâm linh chúng ta thúc đẩy đi tìm kiếm một thế giới vẹn toàn hơn.)

> How can I find this perfect world without any suffering? (Làm sao tôi tìm được một thế giới không còn những sự đau khổ, sa sút, hư nát nữa đây?)

 

> To answer this question, we first must begin with a simple belief that there is a supreme Being  existed Who begun time and life. (Để trả lời câu hỏi này, chúng ta cần có một niềm tin căn bản về một Đấng quyền năng chí cao đã bắt đầu sự sống của mọi loài và thời gian.)

> Not just creating the world, but He always controls and defines the future even into eternity. (Không phải Đấng ấy đã dựng nên muôn loài và mọi vật mà thôi, nhưng còn tể trị cho đến đời đời.)

# Genesis 1:1 stated… that supreme Being is the great Creator named God (Elohim) – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Theo Sáng Thế Ký 1:1 - Đấng ấy có danh xưng là Đức Chúa Trời – “Ban đầu Đức Chúa Trời dựng nên trời đất.”)

 

> The event of the Noah flood recorded in the Bible witnesses this powerful God Who had controlled His creation to fulfill His will and glory. (Rồi sau đó lời Kinh Thánh cũng ghi chép lại trận lụt đại hồng thủy trong đời của ông Nôe, để nói đến quyền tể trị của Chúa trên thiên nhiên mà làm trọn ý Ngài.)

# In Genesis 7:4 what did God say to Noah? “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.” (Trong Sáng Thế Ký 7:4 - Đức Chúa Trời đã phán gì với Nôe – “Vì còn bảy ngày nữa, ta sẽ làm mưa xuống mặt đất, trong bốn mươi ngày và bốn mươi đêm; ta sẽ tuyệt diệt khỏi đất hết các loài của ta đã dựng nên.”)

# God allowed rain to pour down the earth for 40 days & nights because the world was so wicked, but saved only 8 people because of His mercy. (Chúa điều khiển thiên nhiên cho mưa xuống 40 ngày và đêm vì thế giới quá suy đồi trong ý riêng, nhưng chỉ cứu 8 người còn sót lại vì sự nhơn từ của Ngài.)

> You see - the Noah flood is not just about sin punishment or Noah, but about Who God is and what He could do. (Chúng ta có thấy sự kiện này không phải chỉ nói về sự phán xét tội lỗi thôi hay Nôe, nhưng cho chúng ta biết Ngài là ai và Chúa có thể làm gì trên thiên nhiên.)

 

> God sometimes allows natural disasters so the world can know Who He is and call upon Him on the day of trouble. (Chúa có khi cho phép những thiên tai xảy ra để thế giới biết rõ Ngài là ai, và kêu cầu Chúa trong những ngày gian truân, khổ sở.)

> People sometimes give the name for natural disasters as “an act of God,” so through the natural “act,” we cannot forget God. (Người ta thường có danh từ cho những họan nạn thiên nhiên là chữ “Thiên tai,” trong đó có chữ Thiên là Trời… để mọi người không quên Ngài?)

# Acts of God reminds us that we are not the Creator, but only the creation. (Thiên tai giúo cho c/ta hiểu mình không phải là Đấng Tạo Hóa, nhưng chỉ là những vật thọ tạo mà thôi.)

> I believe that many people living in Louisiana have questioned about God liked never before, because of the flood. (Tôi tin rằng nhiều người ở miền Nam trong tiểu bang Louisiana đã tìm cầu Chúa như chưa bao giờ hết, bởi vì cơn lụt lịch sử này.)

# In the Baptist Message last week – wrote about a blinded atheist woman came to know Jesus while she stayed at a church shelter & heard the Gospel. (Tờ Báo Baptist Message mấy tuần trước có chép ở trang đầu một người phụ nữ mù và vô thần đã được cứu khi ở tạm tại một cơ quan tạm trú cơ đốc.)

 

> God speaks to us in many different ways; and sometimes the most effective way is through the difficulties in life. (Chúng ta biết Chúa “đụng” đến đời sống chúng ta bằng nhiều cách, và có khi cách hữu hiệu nhất là qua những ngày khó khăn trong cuộc sống.)

# I don’t like suffering, but if I am looking back, I have to say that our wise God has used many difficulties in my life… to shape me for who I am today. How many of you can witness of that? (Tôi không thích những ngày khổ sở, khó khăn, nhưng khi nhìn lại tôi phải công nhận Chúa là Đấng tốt lành và khôn ngoan, Ngài dùng những khó khăn để đóng khuôn mẫu cho đời sống tôi đến ngày nay.)  

> As the Psalmist in Psalm 50:15 reminds us that because of the day of trouble, it causes us to call upon Him and search for His promises. (Tác gỉa Thi Thiên 50 nhắc chúng ta, vì những ngày gian truân mà giúp chúng ta kêu cầu Ngài, và tìm kiếm những lời Chúa hứa.)

> Our troubles help us not to forget that we are dependent upon God for everything. (Sự khó khăn, khổ sở trong đời sống giúp cho chúng ta luôn lệ thuộc vào Chúa trong mọi sự.)

 

> In Acts 16 recorded about a Philippian jailer who came to believe in Jesus – why? “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” 29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.” (Trong Công Vụ 16 có nói đến một người cai tù đến tin nhận Chúa tại vì sao? “Lối nữa đêm, Phao-lô và Si-la đang cầu nguyện, hát ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời; và những tù phạm đều nghe. 26 Thình lình, có cơn động đất rất lớn, đến nỗi nền ngục rúng động; cùng một lúc, các cửa mở ra, xiềng tù phạm thảy đều tháo cả. 27 Người đề lao giựt mình thức dậy, thấy các cửa ngục đều mở, tưởng tù đã trốn hết, bèn rút gươm, toan giết mình. 28 Nhưng Phao-lô kêu người lớn tiếng rằng: Chớ làm hại mình; chúng ta đều còn cả đây. 29 Người đề lao bèn kêu lấy đèn, chạy lại, run sợ lắm, gieo mình nơi chân Phao-lô và Si-la. 30 Đoạn, đưa hai người ra ngoài, mà hỏi rằng: Các chúa ơi, tôi phải làm chi cho được cứu rỗi? 31 Hai người trả lời rằng: Hãy tin Đức Chúa Jêsus, thì ngươi và cả nhà đều sẽ được cứu rỗi. 32 Hai người truyền đạo Đức Chúa Trời cho người, và cho những kẻ ở nhà người nữa. 33 Trong ban đêm, chính giờ đó, người đề lao đem hai người ra rửa các thương tích cho; rồi tức thì người và mọi kẻ thuộc về mình đều chịu phép báp-tem.”)

> God used an earthquake, a natural disaster to awaken jailer who was seeking for salvation, not just for himself, but his whole family. (Chúa dùng cơn động đất Thiên tai, để đánh thức người cai tù đến sự cứu rỗi, và cho cả gia đình của ông nữa.)

 

5) Through natural disasters, many people will realize that all things in this world are just temporary and imperfect; so they would seek for a better world. (Qua những thiên tai, nhiều người nhận thức mọi thứ ở trên đời này chỉ là tạm thời và không toàn vẹn; hầu cho chúng ta tìm kiếm một thế giới trọn vẹn hơn.)

# In Revelation 21:3-4 – the word from the Apostle John, a disciple of Jesus, described the promise of God about this perfect world as - “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Trong Kinh Thánh Khải Huyền, qua chính lời của sứ đồ Giăng, môn đồ của Chúa Giê-xu đã diễn tả thế giới toàn vẹn trên thiên đàng như sau: “Tôi nghe một tiếng lớn từ nơi ngai mà đến, nói rằng: nầy, đền tạm của Đức Chúa Trời ở giữa loài người! Ngài sẽ ở với chúng, và chúng sẽ làm dân Ngài; chính Đức Chúa Trời sẽ ở với chúng. 4 Ngài sẽ lau ráo hết nước mắt khỏi mắt chúng, sẽ không có sự chết, cũng không có than khóc, kêu ca, hay là đau đớn nữa; vì những sự thứ nhất đã qua rồi.”)

> Heaven is the kingdom of God, a perfect world that no rain can flood, no earthquake can shake, no flame can burn, reserved for those who are willing to trust Jesus, God’s Son. (Thiên đàng là nước Đức Chúa Trời, một chỗ toàn vẹn mà không có nước lụt nào phá hoại được, không một trận động đất nào có thể di động, cũng không có một ngọn lửa nào xém được, dành cho những ai bằng lòng tin cậy Chúa Giê-xu, Con Đức Chúa trời.)

 

6) For those who have been saved, we find even more beneficial purposes in suffering. (Cho những ai đã được cứu, chúng ta tìm được những mục đích cao đẹp hơn nữa trong sự khổ sở.)

> We know that NOT all disasters are due to sin punishment, but to mature us. (Chúng ta biết không phải sự đau khổ nào cũng là sự đóan phạt của tội lỗi, nhưng để Chúa rèn luyện và trưởng thành con cái Ngài càng giống Con Ngài, là Cứu Chúa Giê-xu hơn.)

> How do know your spiritual life matured? (Làm sao quí vị biết đời sống tâm linh của mình đang tăng trưởng đều đặn?)

# You test it through suffering. (Bạn có thể thử biết qua những hoạn nạn trong đời sống.)

 

a) Suffering tests our faithfulness. (Qua sự đau khổ, Chúa thử sự trung thành của c/ta.)

> Are we standing firm on the Rock (the Word of God) or shifting sand… when the flood comes, as illustrated in the parable of Jesus about 2 builders in Luke 6:48-49 – “That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it had been well built.  49 But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, immediately it fell, and great was the ruin of that house?” (Chúng ta có đang đứng vững trên Hòn Đá Góc Nhà, Ngôi Lời không… hay là trên đất lún khi cơn lụt đến… như được Chúa dùng qua ẩn dụ của 2 người xây nhà mình trong Luca 6:48-49 – “Kẻ ấy giống như một người kia cất nhà, đào đất cho sâu, xây nền trên vầng đá: nước tràn lan, dòng nước chảy mạnh xô vào nhà đó, nhưng không xô động được, vì đã cất chắc chắn. 49 Song kẻ nào nghe lời ta mà không làm theo, thì giống như một người kia cất nhà trên đất không xây nền: dòng nước chảy mạnh xô vào nhà đó, tức thì nhà sụp xuống, và sự hư hại lớn lao.”)

> Do you check the foundation of your house faith lately through the historic flood and confirm it stable? (Bạn có đang tự xét nền nhà tâm linh của mình qua cơn lụt và biết rõ nó có vững vàng không?)

> Are we still the doers of the word in the mid of the trial? (Chúng ta có là những người không chỉ nghe, nhưng vẫn cứ làm theo lời của Chúa ngay ở giữa sự thử thách không?)

> Are we still the salt of the earth and the light to the world through the difficulties of life? (Chúng ta có vẫn là muối của đất và ánh sáng của thế gian không trong những ngày gian truân?)

> How do you know your faith is strong and matured? (Làm sao chúng ta nhận biết đức tin, sự trung thành của mình với Chúa đang ở mức nào?)

# This is the testing time to know. (Đây là lúc đức tin của chúng ta được thử nghiệm.)

 

b) Suffering tests our hope. (Qua sự khổ sở, Chúa thử sự trông cậy của chúng ta.)

> We must make sure that our hope is based on the unseen thing – an eternal house in heaven. (Chúng ta phải rõ sự trông cậy của chúng ta đang dựa trên những điều trường tồn, không thấy được bằng mắt, một nhà trên thiên đàng mà không do tay người làm nên.)

> Difficult things happen to help us trusting God more, and not just a check from FEMA or a visa cash card; because those will pass away. (Chứ không chỉ dựa trên cái check của FEMA hay thẻ tiền mặt Visa mà một ngày sẽ trôi qua mất.) 

> It helps us to focus on the Blesser, and not just the blessings. (Gíup cho c/ta chú tâm đến Đấng Ban mọi phước, chứ không chỉ ở những phước lành mà thôi.)

 

> Our hope is not just about the eternal house in heaven, but we will also wait for a glorious body liked Jesus for eternity, as promised in Philippians 3:20-21 – “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” (Sự trông cậy của chúng ta không chỉ nhà đời đời trên thiên đàng thôi, nhưng kể cả một thân thể vinh hiển như Chúa Giê-xu mà bước vào cõi đời đời, như có chép trong Philíp 3 – “Nhưng chúng ta là công dân trên trời; ấy là từ nơi đó mà chúng ta trông đợi Cứu Chúa mình là Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, 21 Ngài sẽ biến hóa thân thể hèn mạt chúng ta ra giống như thân thể vinh hiển Ngài, y theo quyền phép Ngài có để phục muôn vật.”)

> You cannot enjoy eternity in the kingdom of God with this corruptible body. We need a glorious body that Jesus promised to give when He retuns. (Chúng ta không thể hưởng nước thiên đàng với than thể mục nát này được; chúng ta sẽ có thân thể vinh hiển mà Chúa Giê-xu đã hứa ban cho khi Ngài trở lại.)

 

> Are you waiting for the eternal hope? Are you looking up in the clouds where Jesus will appear? (Chúng ta có đang chờ đợi Chúa Giê-xu hiện đến trên mây không?)

> Do you seriously pay attention to many signs leading to the end times – the day of judgment and rewards. And I am sorry to say – trouble times are not over yet; it’s just the beginning of birth pang – many more natural disasters and human-cause suffering are coming. (Chúng ta có cẩn thận chú ý đến những dấu hiệu xảy ra trong ngày sau rốt không; Tôi rất tiếc và nhắc quí vị rằng những ngày gian truân chưa xong, sẽ có những tai họa và hoạn nạn còn xảy ra nữa trước ngày tận thế.)

# Matthew 24:6-8 recorded the words of Jesus – “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.” (Trong Mathiơ 24 có chép lời của Chúa Giê-xu – “Các ngươi sẽ nghe nói về giặc và tiếng đồn về giặc: hãy giữ mình, đừng bối rối, vì những sự ấy phải đến; song chưa là cuối cùng đâu. 7 Dân nầy sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng dân khác, nước nọ nghịch cùng nước kia; nhiều chỗ sẽ có đói kém và động đất. 8 Song mọi điều đó chỉ là đầu sự tai hại.”)

> Natural disasters are one of the signs of the end times; not just normal disasters, but historic events. (Những tai họa này không phải là những hoạn nạn thường, nhưng là những sự kiện sẽ xảy ra mà chưa bao giờ có trong lịch sử.)

# Revelation 11:13 prophesizes the coming of more natural disasters during the 7-year of tribulation as – “At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.” (Trong Khải Huyền 11 chép rõ sẽ có những trận động đất kinh khủng mà làm lòng của nhiều người “chảy ra” đến nỗi họ lên tiếng ngợi khen Chúa – “Đồng một giờ đó, có cơn động đất lớn; một phần mười của thành đổ xuống, bảy ngàn người chết trong cơn động đất ấy, còn những kẻ khác thất kinh và ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời trên trời.”)

 

c) Suffering tests our love, love for the church and love for the lost. (Trong những ngày gian trân, Chúa thử thách lòng yêu thương của chúng ta cho hội thánh Ngài và cho những người hư mất.)

i) Many suffering creates opportunities for us to show practical love to one another. (Giữa những sự khổ sở, chúng ta có cơ hội bày tỏ tình thương thực tế không chỉ bằng lời, đối với nhau.) 

# Galatians 6:10 reminds us this – “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Kinh Thánh Galati 6:10 nhắc nhở chúng ta điều gì? “Vậy, đang lúc có dịp tiện, hãy làm điều thiện cho mọi người, nhất là cho anh em chúng ta trong đức tin.”)

> I told them you are all Jesus’ disciples, you are following Him and doing His will… as taught in the Bible – His word. You found an opportunity to do good things for others, especially to the family of believers – VHBC.” (Tôi tuyên bố với các bạn là những môn đồ của Chúa Giê-xu, đã bước đi và làm theo ý muốn của Chúa qua những việc lành, như đã dạy dỗ trong Kinh Thánh, nhất là trong vòng con cái Chúa, như hội thánh ở đây.)

# Over 25 churches and 35 individuals all over US have sent help to our church for the last several weeks. (Trên 20 Hội Thánh và 35 cá nhân đã gởi tiền và tài vật đến giúp đỡ Hội Thánh của c/ta trong những tuần lễ qua.)

> They have shown their love in a practical way. (Họ đã bày tò tình yêu thương một cách thực tế.)

> Do we see the opportunity to let your “love” light shine before others, so that the world may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven? (Bạn có thấy cơ hội xung quanh mình để chiếu sự sáng của tình yêu Chúa trước mặt mọi người, qua những việc lành hầu cho thiên hạ biết ngợi khen Cha của chúng ta ở trên trời không?)

 

d) Last note – through suffering we know Jesus more than ever for the suffering He endured for us on the cross. (Điều cuối cùng, qua khó khăn, chúng ta thông biết Chúa Giê-xu hơn vì chính ngài đã phải đau đớn, khổ sở trên cây thập tự… vì tội lỗi của hết thảy chúng ta.) 

> God knows and understand all our suffering… because His Son was once hang on the cross for our sins. (Đức Chúa Trời thông hiểu mọi nỗi khổ sở của chúng ta… vì chính Con Ngài đã một lần bị treo trên cây thập tự chuộc tội cho mỗi c/ta.)

> God knows and understands our troubles… when they kicked, spitted, mocked, whipped His Son on the road to Golgotha, and finally nailed Him on the cross. (Chúa cảm thông những đau khổ, ngày gian truân của chúng ta… vì đã một lần người ta đá, nhổ nước miếng, chọc tức và đán đòn Con Ngài trên đường đến đồi sọ Gôgôtha.)

# How do you feel if the world nails your sons and daughters, grand children on the cross today? (Quí vị cảm thấy gì khi người ta đóng đinh con cái mình trên cây gỗ?)

> How serious sin is that Jesus had to carry for us all on His body and suffering. (Tội lỗi đã gây hậu quả tồi tệ mà Chúa đã phải mang trên thân thể của Ngài.)

> I hope and pray through life suffering, we become to love Jesus more and devote our life to His Lordship… as an expression of our gratitude for His grace toward us. (Mong rằng qua những ngày khổ sở, c/ta càng yêu Chúa của c/ta hơn, mà dám tận hiến cuộc đời của mình cho Chúa làm Chủ, bày tỏ lòng biết của Chúa đã hy sinh cho c/ta.)

 

> We may not understand all the mysteries of suffering causing by natural disasters, but we confidently know that in all things happening around us, God knows and works out for the good purpose of those who love Him. (Có lẽ c/ta không thể hiểu rõ tất cả những huyền bí về những tai họa Thiên tai, nhưng c/ta chắc rằng mọi sự xảy ra Chúa biết và ý của Ngài luôn là tốt lành cho những ai thật yêu mến Chúa.)

> A life without Jesus is a life without hope, we just need to go and share our eternal hope of heaven to the world. (Một cuộc đời không có Chúa Giê-xu là một cuộc đời không có hy vọng; C/ta chỉ hãy cứ đi ra và chia xẻ sự trông cậy của nước thiên đàng cho mọi người.)

> I don’t have all the answers why all natural disasters; I just know that I am weak, my life is short, and this world is not perfect.

> This helps me to seek and call upon the great, perfect and merciful God who always cares.

> There is nothing we can do to fix this world that has been corrupted by sin; the only thing we can hope for is heaven.

> God offers His kingdom of heaven to all of those who are willing to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.

 

> God could use natural disasters to remind the world knowing that “He is not dead, or sleeping!”

> I hate to say this, but without suffering, we often forget God is the One Who created the world, controls and heals.

> We are created not to be destroyed, but to inherit the perfect world with God, called heaven, the place of no more suffering, no more tears, and not even death.

> Jesus came and died for our sins, so we can be made perfect to enter that perfect world.

> Only through His blood that we can make perfect again to one day inherit the perfect world – God’s kingdom.

 

> Jesus offers this perfect gift to you today.

> Are you willing to come and receive it by faith.

> “Yes, I am a weak sinner. I call upon You now on the day of trouble. Please forgive all my sins and save me. Thank you for Jesus Who died on the cross for my sins. I put my trust totally in Him as my Lord and Savior today.”

 

> There will more suffering to come before the end, but you can find peace, joy, and hope in the Lord starting today, by asking Jesus to be your Savior, Lord and Protector!

Why All the Natural Disasters?

Psalm 50:15

 

“Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

 

The recent historic flooding in Louisiana may have prompted many people to question – “If God is good, then why did the historic flooding happen?” The fact is that none of us may have a complete answer to this question.    However, according to the knowledge of God’s word, there are few suggested reasons. First, no matter what has happened, through life tragedies, we as human should recognize our weakness and small-ness before the force of nature. There is nothing human can do to stop a hurricane; we only can prepare to evacuate, even though we are intelligent to build air planes, computers, and satellites, and near future self-driving cars. Secondly, through natural disasters, we recognize this world is not perfect at all and the greatest disaster that all of us will have to face is death. In fact, the Bible explains the reason for the imperfect condition of this world is due to the corruption/decay of sin from the beginning. Before Adam & Eve sinned, the world was in perfect condition; there is no death or suffering; until they sinned against God, then death, the greatest suffering enters into the world. Because of our human weakness and the imperfect condition of this world that we are living in, our spirit prompts us to seek for a better and perfect world?

 

How can I find this perfect world without any suffering? To answer this question, we first must begin with a simple belief that there is a supreme Being existed Who begun time and life. Not just creating the world, but He always controls and defines the future even into eternity. The event of the Noah flood recorded in the Bible witnesses this powerful God Who had controlled His creation to fulfill His will and glory. The Noah flood is not just about sin punishment or Noah, but about Who God is and what He could do. God sometimes allows natural disasters so the world can know Who He is and call upon Him on the day of trouble. God speaks to us in many different ways; and sometimes the most effective way is through the difficulties in life. Our troubles help us not to forget that we are dependent upon God for everything. Through natural disasters, many people will realize that all things in this world are just temporary and imperfect; so they would seek for a better world. In Revelation 21:3-4 – the word from the Apostle John, a disciple of Jesus, described the promise of God about this perfect world as - “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Heaven is the kingdom of God, a perfect world that no rain can flood, no earthquake can shake, no flame can burn, reserved for those who are willing to trust Jesus, God’s Son.

 

For those who have been saved, we know that NOT all disasters are due to sin punishment, but to mature us. How do know your spiritual life matured? You test it through suffering. Suffering tests our faithfulness to see if we are still standing firm on the Rock (the Word of God) and not shifting sand. Do you check the foundation of your house faith lately through the historic flood and confirm it stable? Are we still the doers of the word in the mid of the trial? Suffering tests our hope. We must make sure that our hope is based on the unseen thing – an eternal house in heaven.  Our hope is not just about the eternal house in heaven, but we will also wait for a glorious body liked Jesus for eternity. You cannot enjoy eternity in the kingdom of God with this corruptible body. We need a glorious body that Jesus promised to give when He returns.
