(Avoiding Your Love for God Growing Cold)

"Lại vì cớ tội ác sẽ thêm nhiều thì lòng yêu mến của phần nhiều người sẽ nguội lần."
(Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.)
I. The Promise of Jesus’ Return
> As Christians, how are we different from the un-believers when looking forward into the future? (C/ta phần đông ở đây là những người cơ đốc thì mình khác biệt với những người ngoại ở điều gì khi hướng về tương lai?)
> We all have a living hope, waiting for the return of Jesus Christ, Who promised to give us the inheritance of God’s heavenly kingdom. (C/ta có sự trông cậy sống, chờ đợi Chúa Giê-xu trở lại, hứa ban cho c/ta nước thiên đàng.)
# In John 14:1-3 Jesus once promised – “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (Chính Chúa Giê-xu đã hứa trong Giăng 14:1-3 như sau: “Lòng các ngươi chớ hề bối rối; hãy tin Đức Chúa Trời, cũng hãy tin ta nữa. 2 Trong nhà Cha ta có nhiều chỗ ở; bằng chẳng vậy, ta đã nói cho các ngươi rồi. Ta đi sắm sẵn cho các ngươi một chỗ. 3 Khi ta đã đi, và sắm sẵn cho các ngươi một chỗ rồi, ta sẽ trở lại đem các ngươi đi với ta, hầu cho ta ở đâu thì các ngươi cũng ở đó.”)
> So when will Jesus return? (Như vậy câu hỏi là - khi nào thì Chúa Giê-xu sẽ trở lại?)
# Let’s first settle one clear issue and that is “no one can know the time or the hour” of His return. (Trước hết, c/ta phải khẳng định một điều rõ rệt đó là không ai biết ngày và giờ của sự Chúa trở lại.)
# In Matthew 24:36 Jesus said - “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Trong Mathiơ 24:36 – Chúa Giêsu nói rõ chẳng ai biết được.)
# If you say you know the timing, such as the Jehovah Witness once said Jesus would come back in 1914 but it did not happen, then it makes you to become a false prophet in the last day. (Nếu bạn nói mình biết, như nhóm Tháp Canh mà họ đã tiên đoán Chúa trở lại năm 1914, nhưng mọi sự vẫn y nguyên, thì điều này làm bạn trở nên một tiên tri gỉa trong thời kỳ sau rốt.)
> Since we don’t know – should we be ignorant to prepare for His return? (Bởi vì không biết ngày và giờ, như vậy c/ta có nên thờ ơ trong việc chuẩn bị cho việc Chúa trở lại không?)
> Absolutely Not. Jesus taught His disciples about many signs that will happen before the last days, so that if we heed His words, then His return will not be liked a “thief in the night.” (Chắc chắn là không. Bởi vì chính Chúa đã dạy các môn đồ mình biết về những dấu hiệu xảy ra trước thời kỳ tận thế, mà nếu c/ta chịu chú tâm chuẩn bị thì sự đến của Ngài sẽ chẳng còn như “kẻ trộm trong đêm.”)
# In Matthew 24 from verse 3 to 14 that we read earlier, there are at least 10 signs. (Nếu đọc trong Mathiơ 24:3-17, c/ta sẽ thấy tối thiểu 10 dấu hiệu Chúa Giê-xu cho biết.)
> You may say – well, in the history of mankind, all of these signs have already happened, what’s the big deal? (Bạn có thể nói - những điều này đã từng xảy ra trước kia trong lịch sử loài người mà?)
> That’s true, but pay attention to the number of these signs occuring at the same time, and the terrible things that are happening liked never before. (Đúng, nhưng bạn chú tâm đến nhiều dấu hiệu này xảy ra cùng một lúc và cường độ của nó như chưa bao giờ có trên thế gian.)
> Due to time limits, this morning we just focus on 2 important signs leading to the last days. (Vì thời gian có hạn, c/ta chỉ suy gẫm đến 2 dấu hiệu trong câu 12 mà thôi.)
II. The Increase of Wickedness
> First sign is the increase of wickedness. (Dấu hiệu thứ nhất là không phải chỉ sự khôn ngoan tăng lên mà thôi, nhưng cùng một lúc tội ác sẽ thêm nhiều.)
> Do you recognize the increase of wickedness? Does it bother you? Are you sad by seeing so many of these or do you have no concern at all? (Bạn có thấy tội ác càng ngày càng thêm nhiều không? Bạn có buồn khi thấy những điều này xảy ra không, hay là bạn chẳng “care” chi hết?)
> You pay no attention may be because you cannot discern what “wickedness” mean? (Có thể bạn chẳng “care” là vì bạn chưa hiểu tội ác là gì?)
> How would you define “wickedness?” (Theo bạn thì điều gì, việc gì mới gọi là tội ác?)
# As Christians, we define them as things that are against God’s will, violate God’s commandments and forbidden by God. (Là con cái Chúa, c/ta định tội ác là những điều không theo ý Chúa, nghịch với điều răn Ngài dạy, những điều Chúa cấm kỵ.)
> When you read the Bible and come to the word “do not,” then you know the following of it is the wickedness that is forbidden by God. (Khi bạn đọc Kinh Thánh đến chỗ có chữ “chớ hay đừng” thì bạn biết những điều sau đó là việc Chúa cấm kỵ.)
# Look at the 10 commadnments in Exodus 20 – How many words “shall not” from verses 3 to 17? (Nếu xem 10 điều răn của ĐCT trong Xuất Hành 20:3-17 thì bạn thấy có mấy chỗ có chữ “chớ?”)
# I counted 10 times – Why “shall not?” Because these following acts (e.g. murder, steal, lie…) are wicked, forbidden by God. (Tôi đếm được 10 chỗ “chớ,” Tại sao chớ làm những điều này, như là giết người, ăn cắp, dối trá? Vì những việc này là tội ác mà ĐCT cấm kỵ.)
> Things that can be allowed by the society we are living in, or the law of the land, but if God said it is wicked – it is wicked. (Kể cả cho dù những việc xã hội cho phép làm, luật pháp chấp thuận, nhưng nếu Chúa cấm thì vẫn là tội ác.)
> An example that just happened last June when the US Suppreme Court allows and protects the marriage of homesexual. (Một thí dụ hiển nhiên là vấn đề của Tối Cao Pháp Viện vào tháng Sáu vừa qua đã cho hợp pháp hóa hôn nhân của những người đồng tính luyến ái (ĐTLA). Bây giờ điều này trở nên luật chính thức của nước này.)
> What’s wrong with it? If the Supreme Court allows, then it should be ok, right? (Có sai không, nếu chính tối cao pháp việc của Mỹ cho phép và bảo vệ?)
1) But what did God say – the One who created marriage from the begining? (Nhưng ĐCT, là Đấng đã thiết lập nên hôn nhân từ lúc ban đầu, nói gì về việc này?)
# In Leviticus 18:22, the Bible says – “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abo-mination.” (Trong Lêviký 18:22 mạng lệnh của Chúa cấm gì? “Chớ nằm cùng một người nam, như người ta nằm cùng một người nữ; ấy là một sự quái gớm.” (sự quái gỡ như là nằm với một con thú như có chép tiếp trong c. 23)
> It is clear that homosexual is NOT God’s will, forbidden by God; it’s not natural, it is an abo-mination before God, it is shameful. (Rõ ràng theo lời Chúa dạy, ĐTLA không phải là ý Chúa, không là tình nghĩa tự nhiên, nhưng là việc làm xấu hổ và là tội… ác.)
2) The Bible in Genesis 2:24 also helps us to know what marriage should be, according to God’s way – “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Kinh Thánh đã định hôn nhân giữa một người nam và nữ từ lúc bắt đầu trong Sáng Thế Ký 2:24 – “Bởi vậy cho nên người nam sẽ lìa cha mẹ mà dính díu cùng vợ mình, và cả hai sẽ trở nên một thịt. 25 Vả, A-đam và vợ, cả hai đều trần truồng, mà chẳng hổ thẹn.”)
# It is a joining of a man & a woman (not man with man or woman with woman) for the purpose to multiply on earth, that homosexual cannot do. If God did not create Adam & Eve, but Adam & Steve in the beginning – do you think you & I are here today? (Sự kết hợp giữa một người nam và một người nữ cho mục đích sanh sản tự nhiên như mà ĐTLA không thể làm được. Nếu lúc ban đầu ĐCT dựng nên 2 người đàn ông thì thử hỏi c/ta có hiện hữu ngày hôm nay không?)
> Homosexual issue is a great sin (not to mention others such as the terrible killing, shooting today, selling aborted baby parts), because homosexual changes the human history from the beginning. The perpective of human race from the beginning about marriage has been and is always the joining of a man & woman to establish a home that is best for raising kids. (Cái nhìn tổng quát từ lúc ban đầu của mọi thế hệ và mọi dân tộc về hôn nhân giữa một người nam & nữ trong một gia đình là môi trường tự nhiên và tốt nhất để sanh sản và nuôi nấng con cái.)
> For more than 6,000 years, marriage is defined as one man & one woman; America just redefined it. That is a great sin, becoming a legal abo-mination before God the Creator that has never been committed since the time after Adam & Eve sinned? (Trên 6,000 năm trong lịch sử của loài người, hôn nhân chân chính là sự phối hợp giữa một người nam & một người nữ; nhưng nước Hoakỳ đã thay đổi. Đây không phải chỉ là tội, nhưng là tội ác, điều quái gỡ trước mặt ĐCT, mà chưa bao giờ xảy ra, được hợp pháp từ lúc sau khi Ađam & Êva phạm tội.)
> The issue is not about justice, freedom, or human right; the problem is that America does not accept and define “wickedness” as God defined it in His word. (Đây không phải là vấn đề tự do cá nhân, sự công bình, nhưng vấn đề là nước Hoakỳ đã không chấp nhận định nghĩa tội ác, như chính Chúa đã định trong lời của Ngài.)
3) Does God know what’s going on? (Chúa có biết vấn đề này không?)
# Of course, because He is omniscient. (Chắc chắn vì Ngài là Đấng Quyền Năng.)
> Will God judge? (Chúa có sẽ phán xét không?)
# Absolutely, by His timing and His way – it’s not our business to do. (Chắc chắn. Chúa sẽ phán xét theo thời điểm và đường lối riêng của Ngài - việc này không phải của c/ta.)
# One of the proofs was the historic event recorded in Genesis 19:23-25 when God judged the sins (one of them was homosexual) of the people living in Sodom and Gomorrah - “The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot came unto Zoar. 24 Then Jehovah rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven; 25 and he overthrew those cities, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.” (Trong Sáng Thế Ký 19:23-25 ghi chép lại sự kiện lịch sử Chúa phán xét tội lỗi, một trong những tội ác là ĐTLA, của dân thành Sôđôm và Gômôrơ – “Mau mau hãy lại ẩn đó, vì ta không làm chi được khi ngươi chưa vào đến nơi. Bởi cớ ấy, nên người ta gọi tên thành nầy là Xoa. 23 Khi mặt trời mọc lên khỏi đất, thì Lót vào đến thành Xoa. 24 Đoạn, Đức Giê-hô-va giáng mưa diêm sanh và lửa từ nơi Ngài trên trời sa xuống Sô-đôm và Gô-mô-rơ, 25 hủy diệt hai thành nầy, cả đồng bằng, hết thảy dân sự cùng các cây cỏ ở nơi đất đó.”)
# In Romans 1:26-28, the Bible said God judged homosexual, just like he will judge all sins – “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.” (Trong Rôma 1:26-28 có chép Chúa sẽ làm gì cho những ai phạm tội ác này – “Ấy vì cớ đó mà Đức Chúa Trời đã phó họ cho sự tình dục xấu hổ; vì trong vòng họ, những người đàn bà đã đổi cách dùng tự nhiên ra cách khác nghịch với tánh tự nhiên. 27 Những người đàn ông cũng vậy, bỏ cách dùng tự nhiên của người đàn bà mà un đốt tình dục người nầy với kẻ kia, đàn ông cùng đàn ông phạm sự xấu hổ, và chính mình họ phải chịu báo ứng xứng với điều lầm lỗi của mình. 28 Tại họ không lo nhìn biết Đức Chúa Trời, nên Đức Chúa Trời đã phó họ theo lòng hư xấu, đặng phạm những sự chẳng xứng đáng.”
# Just imagine this dark world is surrounding by the evil wolves ready to destroy us all. And the reason they cannot harm it yet, because God is holding them back, until the time God gives this world up to the devils because of her homosexual sin?
> God will judge wickedness at His own time and way – we do not need to worry. (Chúa chắc chắn sẽ phán xét theo cách và thời điểm của Ngài, chúng ta không cần phải lo lắng.)
> The reason He has done so to America because of His love and patience as written in 2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (Lý do Chúa chưa làm là vì sự kiên nhẫn của Ngài, như có chép trong 2 Phiêrơ 3:9 – “Chúa không chậm trễ về lời hứa của Ngài như mấy người kia tưởng đâu, nhưng Ngài lấy lòng nhịn nhục đối với anh em, không muốn cho một người nào chết mất, song muốn cho mọi người đều ăn năn.”)
> We must be aware of the sign of the increase in wickedness coming fast in the last days, and some of these have never happened since the history of mankind. (C/ta phải cẩn thận chú ý đến dấu hiệu của tội ác sẽ thêm nhiều, và có những tội ác này chưa bao giờ xảy ra trên thế gian này, mà c/ta hết lòng chuẩn bị cho ngày Chúa trở lại.)
III. The Love grows Cold
> Not just the increase in wickedness, but Jesus said that the love will grow cold is another sign of the time of the last day. (Không phải chỉ dấu hiệu tội ác sẽ thêm nhiều mà thôi, Chúa Giê-xu phán còn có dấu hiệu nữa đó là lòng yêu mến của nhiều người sẽ nguội dần.)
> This is not about the patriosm love for the country, love of sports, or love of nature; but the love for God and for others. (Đây không phải là lòng yêu nước, hay yêu thích thể thao, nhưng là lòng yêu mến Chúa và tha nhân bị nguội dần.)
1) So what does it mean the love for God will grow cold? (Lòng yêu mến Chúa bị nguội dần nghĩa là sao?)
> Let’s first define – what does it mean to love God/Jesus? (Trước hết hãy định nghĩa yêu mến Chúa nghĩa là sao?)
# Jesus defined the love for Him in John 14:15 as - “If you love me, keep my commands.” (Trong Giăng 14:15 – chính Chúa Giê-xu định nghĩa rất thực tế ai yêu Ngài nghĩa là gì? “Nếu các ngươi yêu mến ta, thì giữ gìn các điều răn ta.”)
> So are we keeping God’s commandments, Jesus’ teachings, if we say we love Him? (Như vậy c/ta có đang giữ những điều răn của Chúa không, sự dạy dỗ của Ngài, nếu mình nói yêu Chúa?)
You may ask - where can I find God’s commandments? (Ở đâu tìm được những điều răn của Chúa?)
> When you read the Bible pay attention to the verbs at the beginning of a sentence; those are commandments that we should keep. Some examples: (Khi c/ta đọc lời Chúa chú ý những động từ ở đằng trước một câu thì điều sau đó là những mạng lệnh Chúa muốn c/ta giữ. Cho vài thí dụ:)
# Ephesians 4:31 – “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” What are the verbs? (Phải bỏ khỏi anh em những sự cay đắng, buồn giận, tức mình, kêu rêu, mắng nhiếc, cùng mọi điều hung ác. 32 Hãy ở với nhau cách nhân từ, đầy dẫy lòng thương xót, tha thứ nhau như Đức Chúa Trời đã tha thứ anh em trong Đấng Christ vậy.)
# Romans 15:2 – “Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Verbs? (“Mỗi người trong chúng ta nên làm đẹp lòng kẻ lân cận mình, đặng làm điều ích và nên gương tốt.”)
# Matthew 26:41 - “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” What are the verbs? (“Hãy thức canh và cầu nguyện, kẻo các ngươi sa vào chước cám dỗ; tâm thần thì muốn lắm, mà xác thịt thì yếu đuối.”)
# Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (“Hãy mang lấy gánh nặng cho nhau, như vậy anh em sẽ làm trọn luật pháp của Đấng Christ.”)
> The problem is not that we do not know, but do we keep His commandents? (Vấn đề không phải là c/ta không hiểu, nhưng là c/ta có giữ điều răn của Chúa không để thật sự yêu Ngài?)
2) So our love for God growing cold because we do not keep His commandments as we used to. What are some of the signs we can self check ourselves? (Cho nên lòng yêu mến Chúa của c/ta bị nguội dần là vì c/ta không còn giữ điều răn Chúa như ngày xưa. Đâu là những dấu hiệu để c/ta tự xét lấy mình?)
# How does a doctor know a person is sick? He takes the temperature sign - Is it hot (having fever)? (Khi bạn đi thăm viếng bác sĩ, việc gì vị bác sĩ làm trước tiên? Đo nhiệt độ của bạn coi xem có bị sốt không? Cũng vậy có những câu hỏi c/ta có thể tự xét coi xem lòng yêu mến Chúa của c/ta đang ở nhiệt độ nào)
a) Am I frequently more and more skipping church worships because of life busy-ness? (Tôi có bắt đầu thường xuyên bỏ sự nhóm lại vì quá bận rộn với công ăn việc làm không?)
b) Am I frequently now going to Sunday School late that I usually don’t? (Tôi bây giờ có hay đến học lớp trường Chúa Nhật trễ không, cũng chẳng học bài trước, mà tôi vẫn thường làm trước đây?)
c) Do I tend to complain more about others rather then speak the words of encouragement as I often do before? (Dạo này tôi có thường hay phàn nàn, trách móc, nói xấu, lên tiếng phê bình ACE, vị mục sư nhiều hơn ngày xưa không?)
d) Am I more self-prideful than I used to be? (Tôi có mỗi ngày trở nên kiêu ngạo thánh hơn không, không như ngày xưa mới tin Chúa, chưa biết nhiều về đạo chi hết?)
e) Am I becoming lazier than before, doing less charity works and enjoy doing them? (Tôi có mỗi ngày càng trở nên lười biếng trong việc làm lành, không như xưa; mà làm đi nữa thì cũng chẳng thấy vui mừng ở trong Chúa nữa?)
> Are we taking the temperatures to see if our love is getting cold? (C/ta có đang đo nhiệt độ của lòng yêu mến Chúa và tha nhân thường không, để nhận biết nó đang nguội dần?)
IV. Reasons to Grow Cold
> What cause the love to grow cold? (Tại sao lòng yêu mến bị nguội dần?)
> I think of at least two scenarios. (Có thể vì tối thiểu 2 trường hợp như sau)
a) When we face pains and suffering in life. (Khi c/ta đối diện với hoạn nạn và sự đau khổ trong cuộc sống.)
# Because we do not understand the plan of God through suffering, we begin to doubt God – “Why me, Lord? It is not fair! May be You don’t love me? Is God real, if yes, then why evils triumph?” (Vì không hiểu rõ chương trình của Chúa qua tại họa và đau thương, c/ta đâm ra nghi ngờ Ngài, cảm thấy như Chúa là Đấng bất công, chẳng còn yêu thương mình nữa.)
> When we doubt God and not praying, our faith becomes weaken. (Khi c/ta nghi ngờ Chúa, đức tin của c/ta trên lời hứa của Chúa sẽ bị yếu dần.)
> When our faith becomes weak, we obey Him less. (Khi đức tin bị yếu dần thì đương nhiên c/ta sẽ không còn thích giữ những điều răn hay mạng lệnh của Chúa nữa.)
> When we obey God less, our love grows cold. (Và khi c/ta xem thường, không làm theo điều răn Chúa thì tự nhiên lòng yêu mến Ngài sẽ nguội dần – có gì là khó hiểu không?)
> When our love gets cold, we begin to trust other idols, then we face even worse problems. (Có khi còn tệ hơn nữa đó là c/ta bắt đầu trở lại tìm cầu ở nơi các tà thần khác, và rồi gặp phải những tai họa còn dữ hơn nữa.)
# Some Christians are leaving church because they doubt God when dealing with life suffering. (Biết bao nhiêu con cái Chúa đã “bỏ đạo” cũng vì nghi ngờ Chúa khi đối diện với những khổ đau trong cuộc sống, hay là vì họ chưa thật sự tin cậy hoàn toàn ở nơi Ngài.)
> What should I do to restore the “right temperature” of our love for God when facing pains and suffering? (C/ta nên làm gì khi đối diện với những tai hoạ và khổ đau để lòng yêu mến Chúa của mình không bị nguội dần?)
i) Have a serious self-examination of your life daily. (Hãy trước hết cẩn thận tự xét lấy chính đời sống của mình mỗi ngày.)
> Is there any unconfessed sin? Is there anyone I still cannot forgive? (Có tội kín nào mình chưa xưng ra với Chúa không? Có ai mình chưa bằng lòng tha thứ không?)
> Is there any hidden instrument of sins I still keep under the carpet, in the closet, or in the computer? Is there any door that I am opening to invite the devils accessing into my heart? (Có những cánh cửa nào mình còn đang dấu ở dưới giường, trong máy điện toán mà để ma quỉ bước vào tâm linh của mình là ô uế không?)
> Is there anything God is calling you to do, but you just ignore? (Có điều chi Chúa đang sai mình làm, nhưng mình cứ phớt tỉnh, chẳng chịu nghe không?)
# We should have an attitude as David in Psalm 139:23-24 – “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (C/ta phải có thái độ tự xét luôn như Đavít có trong Thi Thiên 139:23-24 – “Đức Chúa Trời ơi, xin hãy tra xét tôi, và biết lòng tôi; Hãy thử thách tôi, và biết tư tưởng tôi; 24 Xin xem thử tôi có lối ác nào chăng, Xin dắt tôi vào con đường đời đời.”)
> A serious problem for the churches in America today is lacking of heart preparation for worship. As a result, God could not touch, we experience no healing, and worship slowly becomes just a routine and religious thing to do. (Một nan đề cho các hội thánh Mỹ ở đây trong sự thờ phượng đó là thiếu sự chuẩn bị tự xét tấm lòng trước khi vào nhóm. C/ta để ý xem chỗ mình ngồi có sạch không, phòng có mát mẻ thoải mái không, trang trí có đẹp không, nhưng trong lòng còn đầy những điều xấu xa cần phải tẩy sạch trước khi vào nhóm. Vì vậy mà ĐCT không đụng đến c/ta, c/ta không kinh nghiệm sự chữa lành, và sự thờ phượng trở nên nhàm chán, và cứ xảy ra như vậy mỗi tuần.)
# How many of us before coming into the worship today that have first examed our life and confessed sins to God? (Thử hỏi có bao nhiêu người trong c/ta sáng nay trước khi vào đây nhóm đã tự xét lòng như Đavít đã làm và xưng tội cùng Chúa?)
> If God the Holy Spirit convicts your heart then do 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (Nếu Chúa cáo trách lòng mình điều chi thì hãy xưng tội mình ra ngay mà thờ phượng Chúa phải lẽ, để lòng yêu mến Ngài không bị nguội dần.)
ii) Do not doubt God even if you have confessed your sins and have not yet received any healing. (Đừng nghi ngờ Chúa, cho dù sau khi c/ta ăn năn, tự xét và xưng tội cùng Ngài, nhưng vẫn không thấy sự chữa lành.)
> Just keep on praying for strength to endure, because God works mysteriously through the suffering to bring our love for Him back to a normal temperature, to know Him better. (Chỉ hãy cứ kiên nhẫn cầu nguyện tìm kiếm Chúa luôn, xin Chúa cho sức mạnh để chịu đựng những sự khổ đau, vì Ngài có chương trình trong sự đau khổ này để không làm cho nhiệt độ của lòng yêu mến c/ta cho Ngài bị nguội lần.)
b) The second scenario is not about pains and suffering, but pleasures that pull us away from the love for Him. (Trường hợp thứ hai thường làm cho lòng yêu mến bị nguội dần đó là những thú vui trần thế kéo c/ta xa Ngài.)
# Not all pleasures are bad, but they are life blessings – like enjoying a good meal. (Không phải tất cả những thú vui nào cũng là xấu, chẳng hạn như ăn một bữa cơm ngon mình cảm tạ Chúa)
> God does not teach us to go up in the mountain, be isolated from the world, harm yourself and do not enjoy eating good food. (Chúa không có dạy mình phải lên núi ép xác tu trì, đánh mình khổ sở, đừng ăn ngon, đừng mặc đẹp.)
> But the greediness of pleasures will surely cool down the love for God. (nhưng khi lòng tham của những thú vui chế ngự lòng mình thì sự yêu mến của Chúa sẽ nguội lần.)
> How do you know when this happens, stepping over the greediness limit? (Khi nào thì mình mới biết mình tham lam những thú vui này?)
# When that pleasure takes over the priority of a Christian’s duty to obey God’s commandments. (Khi những thú vui này trở thành những điều ưu tiên trong cuộc sống của mình, chứ không còn những điều răn và mạng lệnh của Chúa dạy.)

Now, if you check - who or what is sitting on that chair of your heart? Why not Jesus anymore? Because you have loved something else more in this world than Jesus. I also understand that the way to restore the temperature of my love for you is coming back to the cross where you once died for my sins. (Nay con ý thức được rằng con phải quay trở về gần với thập tự gía là nơi đã một lần Chúa chết cho chính con.) But you know my flesh cannot do that. V. Will We Stand Firm?
> Will we stand firm until the day of Jesus’ return? (C/ta có sẽ còn đứng vững đến ngày Chúa Giê-xu trở lại không?)
> The devils attack us from both sides: The increase in wickedness and the temptations using wordly pleasures that make our love for God growing cold. (Ma quỉ hành động trong thời kỳ cuối cùng đến từ hai phía: Càng thêm tội ác, và qua sự cám dỗ của nhiều thú vui để làm lòng yêu mến của c/ta cho Chúa nguội dần.)
# Many things outside in the world we have no control; but we can control our heart, our love for God inside. Don’t let it growing cold. (Nhiều thứ bên ngoài trong thế gian tự c/ta không điều khiển được, nhưng c/ta có thể giữ tấm lòng bên trong của mình luôn yêu mến Chúa, đừng để nó bị nguội dần.)

> Will you make a commitment to do what God says in His words eveytime you come to church to study the Bible?
> Will you make a commitment to prepare your heart daily and especially on Sunday before entering into worship?
> Do you want to love Jesus liked never before?
Avoiding to let Your Love for God getting Cold
Matthew 24:12
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”
As Christians, how are we different from the unbelievers when looking forward into the future? We all have a living hope, waiting for the return of Jesus Christ Who promised to give us the kingdom of heaven. So when will Jesus return? Let’s first settle one clear issue and that is “no one can know the time or the hour” of His return. Since we don’t know – should we be ignorant to prepare for His return? Absolutely Not. Jesus taught His disciples about many signs that will happen before the last days, so that if we heed His words, then His return will not be liked a “thief in the night.” In Matthew 24:12, there are at least 2 important signs leading to the last days.
First sign is the increase of wickedness. Do you recognize the increase of wickedness? May be you pay no attention because you don’t really understand “wickedness” mean? As Christians, we define them as things that are against God’s will, violate God’s commandments and forbidden by God. When you read the Bible and come to the word “do not,” then you know the following of it is the wickedness that is forbidden by God. An example that just happened last June when the US Supreme Court allows and protects the marriage of homosexual. What’s wrong with it? If the Supreme Court allows, then it should be ok, right? But what did God say – the One who created marriage from the beginning? In Leviticus 18:22, the Bible says – “Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” It is clear that homosexual is NOT God’s will, forbidden by God; it’s not natural, it is an abomination before God, it is shameful. The Bible in Genesis 2:24 also helps us to know what marriage should be, according to God’s way – It is a joining of a man & a woman for the purpose to multiply on earth, that homosexual cannot do. Homosexual issue is a great sin because it changes the human history from the beginning. For more than 6,000 years, marriage is defined as one man & one woman; America just redefined it. Does God know what’s going on? Of course, because He is omniscient. Will God judge? Absolutely, by His timing and His way – it’s not our business to do.
Not just the increase in wickedness, but Jesus said that the love will grow cold is another sign of the time leading to the last day. This is not about the love for the country, love of sports, or love of nature; but the love for God and for others. So what does it mean the love for God will grow cold? Jesus defined the love for Him in John 14:15 as - “If you love me, keep my commands.” But where can I find God’s commandments? When you read the Bible pay attention to the verbs at the beginning of a sentence; those are commandments that we should keep. The real problem is not that we do not know, but do we keep His commandments? So what cause the love to grow cold? I think of at least two scenarios.
a) When we face pains and suffering in life. Because we do not understand the plan of God through suffering, we begin to doubt God. When we doubt God, our faith becomes weaken. When our faith becomes weak, we obey Him less. When we obey God less, our love grows cold. When our love gets cold, we begin to trust other idols, and then we face even worse problems. What should I do to restore the “right temperature” of our love for God? Have a serious self-examination of your life daily. Is there any un-confessed sin? Is there any hidden instrument of sins I still keep under the carpet, in the closet, or in the computer? Do not doubt God even if you have confessed your sins and have not yet received any healing. Just keep on praying for strength to endure, because God works mysteriously through the suffering to bring our love for Him back to a normal temperature.
b) The second scenario is not about pains and suffering, but pleasures that pull us away from the love for Him. Not all pleasures are bad, but the greediness of pleasures will surely cool down the love for God. How do you know when this happens? When that pleasure takes over the priority of a Christian’s duty to obey God’s commandments. The more you love pleasures of this world, the more you love God less; It’s that simple.
So what can you do to restore the love for God? You must let go, you must de-throne the pleasures in your heart, and re-invite Jesus back to be the Lord of your heart. You must come nearer to the cross daily, so your love does not get cold. We must restore our love for God/Jesus by obeying Jesus’ commandments, and stand firm until the day of Jesus returns to receive full rewards of the heavenly kingdom.
