Đừng Để bị Lập Khuôn, nhưng Hãy Biến Hóa
Do not Conform, but be Transformed
(Rôma 12:1-2)
“Đừng làm theo (khuôn rập) đời nầy, nhưng hãy biến hóa bởi sự đổi mới của tâm thần (tâm trí) mình, để thử (phân biệt) cho biết ý muốn tốt lành, đẹp lòng và trọn vẹn của Đức Chúa Trời là thể nào.”
(Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.)
I. New Creature/New Goal
> According to the Bible in 2 Corinthians 5:17, all of those who are “born again,” by believing In Jesus Christ… are new creatures – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (Cho những ai đã được “tái sanh,” bởi sự tin nhận Chúa Giê-xu, thì theo Kinh Thánh 2 Côrinhtô 5:17, những người đó là những “tạo vật trở nên mới.”)
> What does this mean? (Đây có nghĩa là sao?)
> It means that we now have a new Lordship of Jesus Christ, and new life guide – the Bible. (Đây có nghĩa là bây giờ c/ta ở dưới quyền của một Chủ mới - là Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, và một tiêu chuẩn mới cho đời sống - là Kinh Thánh.)
> How can the Bible help us? (Lời Kinh Thánh giúp ích cho c/ta điều gì?)
a) First, the Bible helps to increase our knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (Kinh thánh thứ nhất giúp c/ta thêm sự hiểu biết về Chúa, Đấng Christ, và vai trò của Thánh Linh Ngài.)
> When you were born again, no matter how old you were; you started as a spiritual baby that needs the spiritual milk, which is the word of God. (Khi c/ta sanh lại, không cần biết lúc đó c/ta đã được mấy tuổi; c/ta theo phần thuộc linh bắt đầu từ một “em bé” cần sữa thuộc linh là lời ĐCT.)
# 1 Peter 2:2 compares our new birth “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” (Trong 1 Phiêrơ 2:2 diễn tả tình trạng này – “hãy ham thích sữa thiêng liêng của đạo, như trẻ con mới đẻ vậy, hầu cho anh em nhờ đó lớn lên trong sự cứu rỗi.”)
b) Secondly, the Bible also helps us to know God’s will for our life. (Kinh Thánh cũng giúp c/ta biết được ý muốn của Chúa để biết sống thể nào làm đẹp lòng Ngài.)
> The Bible has many instructions of “Do and Don’t” to guide us on how we should live our life to please God. (Kinh thánh có những lời hướng dẫn đời sống của c/ta phải biết những điều nào được làm và không được phép làm, để đẹp lòng Chúa.)
> When you read the Bible, pay attention on the verbs – these often are the specific instructions that God wants us to follow. (Khi đọc Kinh Thánh c/ta nên chú ý đến những động từ, hay bắt đầu bằng những trạng từ: “hãy, chớ, đừng”… đây thường là những mạng lệnh rõ cho c/ta biết điều gì Chúa muốn c/ta phải làm, hay không được phép.)
> The goal of following God’s instructions for all believers while living on this earth is described in Romans 8:29a - “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son,” (Trung tâm điểm làm theo ý muốn của Chúa cho mọi kẻ tin còn sống trên trái đất này là để mỗi ngày càng được đổi mới trở nên giống hình ảnh của Chúa Giê-xu hơn.)
> This is God’s good, pleasing and perfect will. (Đó là ý muốn tốt lành, đẹp lòng và trọn vẹn của ĐCT.)
> This means our life must be transformed to have the same mind, same lifestyle, speaking the same word, and doing the same things, as Christ did and taught while He was still on this earth. (Đây là sự biến hóa trong đời mới của mình để tập có cùng một tâm tình, một lối sống, lời nói, sự suy nghĩ, và hành động, y như những gì Chúa Giê-xu đã làm và dạy khi Ngài còn ở trên đất này.)
> You see - if Christians do not act like Christ, we become another excuses for the unbelievers to reject Christianity? (Nếu c/ta nói mình là Cơ Đốc mà sống chẳng giống Đấng Christ chút nào, thì c/ta lại làm cớ cho những kẻ ngoại càng từ chối Chúa hơn nữa.)
# Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately – do you see yourself assembling MORE and MORE like Christ this week than last week? Do you know Him more this month than last month? (Anh chị em có hay tự soi mặt mình trong gương không và thấy mình giống Chúa Christ tuần này hơn tuần trước không? Mình thông biết rõ Chúa tháng này hơn tháng trước không?)
II. Our Enemies
> Although we know this good will for our life, we should NOT neglect the enemies who always prevent us in achieving this goal. (Tuy biết rõ ý muốn tốt lành, nhưng đừng quên c/ta có những kẻ thù xung quanh đang rình mò và cản trở c/ta đạt được mục đích ưu tiên này.)
> We have basically three enemies: (C/ta có 3 kẻ thù trong cuộc sống:)
1) The first one is the inner enemy – the FLESH as described in 1 John 2:16 – “… the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” (Kẻ thù thứ nhất sống ngay bên trong lòng mỗi người đó là xác thịt và những ham muốn của nó như có chép trong 1 Giăng 2:16 – “… như sự mê tham của xác thịt, mê tham của mắt, và sự kiêu ngạo của đời, đều chẳng từ Cha mà đến, nhưng từ thế gian mà ra.”)
> The powerful flesh living inside each of us continuously entices us to do our own things, rather than obeying God’s will. (Sức mạnh của xác thịt cứ lôi kéo c/ta làm những điều tư dục ham thích, hơn là những điều Chúa muốn.)
2) The second and invisible enemy who is SATAN and his evil forces described in 1 Peter 5:8 as “a roaring lion walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” (Kẻ thù thứ hai là vô hình, quỉ satan và những quyền lực của nó, có chép trong 1 Phiêrơ 5:8 – “Hãy tiết độ và tỉnh thức: kẻ thù nghịch anh em là ma quỉ, như sư tử rống, đi rình mò chung quanh anh em, tìm kiếm người nào nó có thể nuốt được.”)
# In Ephesians 6:12 – the Bible helps us to see this enemy and his forces are not “flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places,” the forces that are greatER than human’s strength. (Kinh Thánh Êphêsô 6:12 giúp cho c/ta hiểu kẻ thù này không phải thế giới thuộc thể - “Vì chúng ta đánh trận, chẳng phải cùng thịt và huyết, bèn là cùng chủ quyền, cùng thế lực, cùng vua chúa của thế gian mờ tối nầy, cùng các thần dữ ở các miền trên trời vậy.”)
3) The third and most influential enemy is the surrounding WORLD system that satan works through, to prevent us from reaching our ultimate goal of being more like Christ. (Kẻ thù thứ ba mà ảnh hưởng c/ta nhiều nhất đang sống xung quanh đó là thế gian mà ma quỉ dùng làm môi trường cám dỗ và cản trở c/ta không đạt được mục tiêu trở nên giống như Đấng Christ.)
# The world influences its philosophies to our life such as: (Đây là những thuyết lý của thế gian)
“There is no God; there is no judgment of hell; there is no hurry to believe in Jesus; (Không có Chúa nào đâu, không có sự phán xét của địa ngục đâu; không có vội tin Chúa làm chi.)
> Jesus is just a myth - so if it feels good, do it now, enjoy it now, why wait; (Chúa Giê-xu chỉ là một câu chuyện huyền thoại, không có thật; như vậy thì điều gì ở trên đời này sướng thì cứ hưởng thụ đi; đợi làm chi.)
> Even if there is a God then He is a merciful One who will end up sending all to enter heaven one day through many different paths – choose one as you please.” (Nếu có Chúa đi nữa thì Ngài là Đấng nhơn từ, cuối cùng rồi cũng cho mọi người vào được nước thiên đàng mà thôi - Đây là những lý thuyết của thế gian đang nhập vào lòng vô số người.)
> That’s why the apostle Paul said: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world,” meaning do not get molded, shaped into these worldly thinking and philosophies, and finally believing & walking in them.” (Vì lý do đó mà sứ đồ Phaolô nói: Đừng để bị lập khuôn theo những thói tục của đời này, nghĩa là đừng để thế gian này nắn c/ta theo những đường lối và lý thuyết của nó, đến chỗ mình bị lừa dối và bước đi theo nó.)
III. Their Influences
> The world infiltrates its philosophies beginning at our mind with a thought, which yields a plan, then later produces an act, it becomes a habit, and finally it determines a person destination. (Thế giới này ảnh hưởng những lý thuyết của nó bắt đầu bằng cách len lỏi một thuyết lý vào trong trí óc của c/ta, dẫn đến một hoặch định, sau này sanh ra thành một hành động, để rồi cuối cùng dẫn đến một định mệnh hư mất.)
> This is the pattern of sinning as describing in James 1:14-15 – “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (Đây là đường lối của sự phạm tội như có chép trong Giacơ 1:14-15 – “Nhưng mỗi người bị cám dỗ khi mắc tư dục xui giục mình. 15 Đoạn, lòng tư dục cưu mang, sanh ra tội ác; tội ác đã trọn, sanh ra sự chết.”)
> The first battle is the battle of the mind, mostly through the eyes where the temptations in the world enter into the heart of a person. (Trận chiến đầu tiên là ở nơi tâm trí mình, thường qua cánh cửa của con mắt khi thấy những cám dỗ và cho phép nó đi vào lòng mình làm tổ.)
> As it enters, it will corrupt the mind, compromise the truths that already established in one’s heart, and motivate the person into evil actions. (Khi nó vào, sẽ nhiễm sự ô uế trong trí óc, sẽ thương lượng với lẽ thật c/ta đã học biết, và sanh ra chủ động thúc dục một người làm những việc ác.)
# We all know computer virus and hacking to steal people’s identities are always the most headache battle we have to deal with in these present days. (Vấn đề máy điện toán bị lẻn vào, phá hoại hay ăn cướp những hồ sơ bí mật của một người luôn là vấn đề làm cho c/ta bị nhức đầu ngày này.)
> The devil always try to “hack” into our minds with lies and myths, to compromise God’s truths. (Ma quỉ luôn tìn mọi cách để nhiễm những lời dối trá và chuyện lãng vào trí óc của c/ta, để rồi từ từ thay đổi lẽ thật của Chúa trong lòng của nhiều người.)
> That’s why the apostle Paul taught to fight this battle, we must begin with the renewing of the mind because this is where attitudes, lifestyle, and behaviors produce. (Vì lý đo đó mà sứ đồ Phaolô khuyên c/ta phải “đổi mới tâm trí” mình, là bởi vì từ chỗ kín ẩn này mà sanh ra mọi thái độ, lối sống và những hành động.)
> There are 3 means that the world influences us away from the truth. (Có 3 môi trường chính thế gian ảnh hưởng đến tâm trí c/ta:)
1) The busy-ness of life. (Sự bận rộn của cuộc sống trong thế gian.)
> We live in a materialistic world that has many demands of our time. (C/ta đang sống trong một thế giới vật chất và nó đòi hỏi rất nhiều thì giờ của c/ra.)
> Most of our life time is dedicated to education and works; some work 7 days a week, even after the retirement year. (Hầu hết thì giờ trong cuộc sống c/ta dành cho sự học vấn, công ăn việc làm, có người làm 7 ngày một tuần, cho đến khi về hưu rồi vẫn còn làm.)
> The busy-ness of life is the trick/distractions, the world uses to lure many away from the spiritual matter, because we are so busy doing material things. (Sự bận rộn là cái mưu kế ma quỉ làm c/ta bị lo ra, để rồi không có cơ hội để nghe đến đạo là nhu cầu cho phần linh hồn của mình.)
# How many times have you gone and visited someone, inviting them to church, and the most common excuse is the busy-ness of works, house chores, gardening, fixing some things? (Có bao nhiêu lần c/ta đi thăm viếng và mời thân hữu đến dự nhóm và lý do kiếu từ chối không đi được thông thường nhất luôn là sự bận rộn công việc làm ăn, công việc nhà, xây cất, hay sắm sửa?)
# The devil uses the procrastinated excuses to hold back so many people from the hearing of the Gospel until it’s due time, when it is too late. (Ma quĩ rất khôn khéo giữ chân nhiều người, bằng tìm lý do bào chữa của sự bận rộn, để không chịu nghe đến tin lành cứu rỗi của Chúa, cho đến lúc cuối thì quá trễ rồi, cơ hội không còn nữa.)
2) The technologies through media such as News, TV shows, movies, music, video games, Internet, Facebook – these can slowly change the way we think correctly, if we use them incorrectly or excessively. (Điều thứ hai thế gian ảnh hưởng c/ta đó là những kỹ thuật truyền thông tối tân ngày nay: như là tin tức thời sự trực tiếp, những chương trình giải trí TV shows, phim ảnh, nhạc lý, trò chơi điện tử, mạng lưới Internet… có thể từ từ thay đổi sự suy nghĩ của c/ta.)
> Each of these can be “a seed/a message” the world can sow in our heart to slowly make us being tolerate to its philosophies. (Mỗi thứ này có thể là một hạt giống nhỏ, gieo vào trí óc của một người những thuyết lý của thế gian, và từ từ làm người đó chấp nhận những điều dối trá đi nghịch với lời Chúa dạy.)
# We should not be surprised that more and more people accept homosexuality, abortion, transgender issues... and less of God with the increase in technologies. (Vì lý do đó c/ta không có ngạc nhiên ngày nay có vô số người chấp nhận vấn đề đồng tính luyến ái, đổi giống hay tự do phá thai là những điều bình thường.)
# We should not be surprised that our kids getting smatter with technologies, but less knowledge about God and His truths. (C/ta cũng không nên ngạc nhiên con cái c/ta càng ngày càng giỏi và thông minh trong những kỹ thuật điện toán, nhưng lại thiếu sự hiểu biết lời của Chúa.)
3) The powerful of friendship. (Sự ảnh hưởng trong mối liên hệ bạn bè.)
> Friendship can be a good thing, but it can be a powerful and influential force that can lead us to go astray, even to disobey our parents, dishonor pastors, and disrespect leaders. (Tình bạn bè là điều tốt cho cuộc sống, nhưng nó cũng có thể là một nguồn lực ảnh hưởng c/ta đi sai đường, bất hiếu với cha mẹ, không kính nể người giảng đạo, và hỗn láo với người lãnh đạo.)
# Our Vietnamese ancestors said something so meaningful about this influence as: “If you play with black ink, your hands will get dirty; but if you stay near the light, you will do the right thing.” Similar to a saying of American: “If you lay with dogs, you will get fleas.” (Đúng y như ông bà c/ta hay nói, “gần mực thì đen, còn gần đèn thì sáng; còn nếu c/ta sống gần với những con chó thì chắc sẽ bị bọ chét cắn.)
# We have a new dog that shreds a lot of hair (Thanks God, not fleas). Almost everyday my wife has to sweep the floor because of dog hair. You live with the dog, you expect this.
> There is a force greater than the gravitational force that we must be careful on whom we will choose to be close friends. (Có một sức mạnh ảnh khủng khiếp còn lớn hơn sức hút của trái đất, đó là bạn bè xấu dễ làm hư nết tốt, cho nên c/ta phải rất cẩn thận chọn bạn tốt mà chơi.)
IV. Our Fixes
> With the knowledge about these powerful influences, how can we avoid of being conformed to the pattern of this world? (Khi đã biết những nguồn lực này rồi thì bây giờ c/ta làm sao tránh khỏi sự lập khuôn của thế gian này?)
1) We need help from the Holy Spirit of God. (C/ta cần sự giúp đỡ của Thánh Linh Chúa.)
> The basic of winning is very simple, we must have an extraordinary power that is stronger than our enemy, the influencer of the world. (Định luật của sự chiến thắng một điều gì rất dễ hiểu đó là c/ta phải có sự giúp đỡ từ một quyền năng mạnh hơn quyền lực của kẻ thù mình.)
# Romans 8:5-6 explains these two forces – “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” (Trong Rôma 8:5-6 có nói về 2 quyền lực này – “thật thế, kẻ sống theo xác thịt thì chăm những sự thuộc về xác thịt; còn kẻ sống theo Thánh Linh thì chăm những sự thuộc về Thánh Linh. 6 Vả, chăm về xác thịt sanh ra sự chết, còn chăm về Thánh Linh sanh ra sự sống và bình an.”)
> Our flesh cannot overcome the force of the world; the only way we can overcome, avoiding the conformity of the world is by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Tư dục của c/ta không thể thắng thế gian được, chỉ có một cách duy nhất đó là c/ta phải nhờ cậy vào quyền năng của Thánh Linh Chúa.)
# 1 John 4:4 – “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greatER than the one who is in the world.” (Sứ đồ Giăng giải thích rõ quyền năng mạnh hơn của Thần Chúa đang sống trong lòng mình – “Hỡi các con cái bé mọn, phần các con, là thuộc về Đức Chúa Trời, đã thắng được họ rồi, vì Đấng ở trong các con là lớn hơn kẻ ở trong thế gian.”)
> Every believer has the Spirit of God living inside us. (Mỗi kẻ tin đều có Thần Linh của Chúa hiện hữu trong lòng.)
> That’s not the problem; the problem is are we being filled with the Spirit of God, or are we yielding our life to Him for control? (Đó không phải là vấn đề, nhưng vấn đề thật là c/ta có được đầu dẫy Chúa Thánh Linh không, có nghĩa là c/ta có sống đang nhường, để Ngài làm Chủ đời sống của mình không?)
# Every mornings we wake up out of our bed, do we commit our life under the leading of the Holy Spirit? (Mỗi buổi sáng thức dậy, c/ta có chịu trao đời sống của mình cho Chúa thánh Linh tể trị không?)
# Every decisions during the day, do we allow the Spirit of God to guide us on what to do? (Trong mọi quyết định hằng ngày, c/ta có để Chúa Thánh Linh hướng dẫn mình không?)
# Every Saturday nights do we prepare our heart with an expectation that tomorrow when we go to worship, we will receive the convictions of the Holy Spirit? (Mỗi tối thứ Bảy c/ta có sửa soạn sẵn sàng tâm trí với sự mong uớc ngày mai đi nhóm được Chúa Thánh Linh nhắc nhở gì không?)
# Every Sunday worships, are we being sensitive to what the Spirit speaking to us and not just come to church as a “check?” (Mỗi buổi sáng Chúa Nhật, c/ta có để ý nghe thấy Thánh Linh Chúa cáo trách mình trong lớp học Kinh Thánh và khi nghe giảng điều gì không?)
> In many years as a Christian, I have learned a lot, and one of the profound truths about Christian growing is this: To grow in faith is not about being inside this building every Sunday, but it’s all about are you being sensitive to the voices of the Holy Spirit convicting you when you study Sunday School, and when you listen to sermons? (Trong nhiều năm làm tín đồ, tôi học được rất nhiều bài học về sự tăng trưởng đức tin: Bí quyết ở đây không phải là mình đi nhà thờ, ở trong căn phòng này, nhưng là tâm trí của mình có để ý, có bén nhạy với những điều Thần Linh Chúa đang muốn nhắc nhở cáo trách chính mình không, mà ra về điều chỉnh lại đời sống.)
> You see - some come to church just for “coming to church,” to gain a “check” that I have done my duty, but without a heart of being convicted of sins by the Spirit, a desire to be changed by God, and a commitment to live a life more like Jesus Christ. (Vô số người đi nhà thờ chỉ là “để đi mà thôi,” để có một dấu “check” là mình có đi nhà thờ làm trọn công việc đạo đức, nhưng tấm lòng chẳng bao giờ bị cáo trách những tội kín mình đang vi phạm, có một ước mơ đời sống được đổi mới, và một sự cam kết ra về điều chỉnh để được giống như Chúa Giê-xu hơn.)
> That’s why there are many people find religions in these walls of the church, and haven’t found true relationship with God, Jesus, or experienced the power of the Holy Spirit. (Vì vậy mà vô số người đến nhà thờ tìm được tôn giáo, nhưng chưa kinh nghiệm được mối liên hệ mật thiết với ĐCT, Chúa Giê-xu và quyền phép Chúa Thánh linh là gì, và cứ ở trong tình trạng em bé thuộc linh hoài.)
> Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit Who has the extraordinary power to overcome the world, but we don’t even know Him, and don’t even care to ask for His help. (Chúa Giê-xu đã hứa ban cho Thánh Linh là Đấng có quyền năng để thắng thế gian, đang ở trong c/ta, mà c/ta không kêu cầu Ngài thì làm sao tránh bị lập khuôn của thế gian đây?)
2) We need to fill our life with the word of God to the point that no “trash” from the world has a room to sneak in. (C/ta phải luôn nuôi lòng mình đầy dẫy lẽ thật của Chúa, đến nỗi không còn chỗ cho những lý thuyết của thế gian xen vào được.)
> Why do Christians act like the world? (Tại sao vô số người cơ đốc sống giống hệt như những người ngoại mà chính họ cũng không biết?)
# A simple answer - because we spend so much time with the worldly things. (Câu trả lời đơn giản là vì c/ta để qúa nhiều thì giờ với thế gian, nhưng lại ít thì giớ với Chúa Giê-xu mà thôi.)
# A survey from ABC? how many hours kids spend on electronic stuffs? Full 9 hours a day. (Thống kê vài tháng trước đây cho biết trung bình một đứa trẻ ở Mỹ này để ra 9 tiếng đồng hồ mỗi ngày với những máy móc điện tử, máy computer, cell phone, Ipad, video games, hay nghe nhạc.)
# 3 Hours watching TV & movies, 1.5 hours on facebook or surfing the Internet, 1 hour texting, 2 hours listening to music, 1/2 hour on cell phone, and 1 hour playing video games.
> Let’s ask a similar question – how many hours do they spend in God’s word a day? (Câu hỏi là còn bao nhiêu thì giờ con em c/ta để dành ra mỗi ngày với Chúa, thì tại sao c/ta lại ngạc nhiên con em c/ta giống hệt như những đứa trẻ ở đời?)
# Then why are we surprised that our kids look more like the worldly people?
> Even sometimes in a Bible study, a sermon, a meeting, a camp, or an activity – are we spending too much time expressing our feelings, to be entertained, and less time to study the truth of God. (Có khi tôi tự hỏi kể cả trong những buổi học Kinh Thánh, những bài giảng, những buổi họp, bao nhiêu thì giờ chú tâm đến lời và lẽ thật của Chúa, còn bao nhiêu thì giờ để chia xẻ cảm nghĩ và nói chuyện thời sự, hay kể chuyện vui?)
# I begin to pray for the summer camp – my simple prayer is this: “Lord! It’s not important how many trophies our church youths going to claim this summer camp, but how many youths coming out of this camp becoming the superheroes of faith, and faithful servants for You at their home, at their churches, their schools. So, please transform all youths into the image of Jesus Christ through this camp.” (Tôi bắt đầu cầu nguyện cho trại Hè trong năm nay mà hội thánh bảo trợ: “Ôi Chúa ơi! Vấn đề quan trọng cho trại năm này không phải là ban Thannh thiế niên sẽ đem về được bao nhiêu giải thưởng, nhưng là sẽ có bao nhiêu em qua trại này sẽ trở thành những người anh hùng đức tin và những người hầu việc Chúa trung tín ở tại gia điình mình, hội thánh mình, trường học mình.”)
> Not just studying the word, but the key is putting them into practice, then the world cannot conform us into its pattern, especially when the heat is on. (Không phải chỉ biết lời Chúa thôi, nhưng c/ta phải thực hành lời Chúa thì mới chắc không bị lập khuôn của nhũng thói tục ở đời này.)
> The basic is this – it is NOT what you know, but what have you done with what you know? (Điều căn bản của lẽ thật đó là không phải c/ta đã biết gì, nhưng c/ta có đã làm gì với sự hiểu biết lời Chúa không?)
> It’s kind of sad to know that many of us have gone to church many years already, from outside we get older; but the inside is still in the form a spiritual baby that still needs to be cared for. > Because so many times we come to church just for “showing up,” and not being sensitive to the conviction of the Holy Spirit with a commitment to follow through when we get out of this building. (Bởi vì họ đi nhà thờ chỉ là để đi mà thôi, nhưng không có sự nhạy bén nghe thấy những sự cáo trách của Thánh Linh Chúa cho mình, và ra về cam kết thay đổi đời sống của mình.)
3) We need to build a strong ally that the world system cannot change our mind of truth. I am talking about an army of good Christian friends. (C/ta cần xây dựng một quân đội, đồng minh có sức mạnh mà thế gian không thể phá đổ và len lỏi những lý thuyết của nó, đó là mối liên hệ gần gũi với các người bạn có cùng một niềm tin.)
# Good friend is hard to find; but finding a good Christian friend is even harder. (Tìm được một người bạn tốt đã là khó rồi, tìm được một người bạn tốt cơ đốc còn khó hơn chừng nào?)
# Proverbs 12:26 – “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” (Kinh Thánh Châm Ngôn dạy c/ta gì? “Người (bạn) công bình dẫn đường cho kẻ lân cận mình; Còn các nẻo kẻ dữ làm sai lạc chúng.”)
> How would you define a good friend, what characteristics do you expect? (Quí vị định nghĩa một người bạn tốt là gì? Có những đặc điểm nào?)
> This is what I recommend – don’t trust them yet, don’t be quick to call them good friends yet, until you deal with troubles in life, then see how your “good” friends react? (Đừng vội gọi bạn tốt, hãy đợi cho đến khi quí vị gặp phải khó nguy thì người bạn đó sẽ xử sự như thế nào thì mới biết?)

# When you did something wrong, do your “good” friends help you to be accountable for it, so you don’t make the same mistake again? (Khi quí vị làm một điều gì sai, người bạn tốt đó có cáo trách mình để không cứ tiếp tục đi xa mãi không?)
# When I was young, I could get really “hot” in a basketball game. (Khi tôi còn trẻ tánh tình nóng nảy, và có khi biểu lộ trong những cuộc chơi thể thao.)
> One time I said something and acted wrongly in a basketball court because I was mad. (Có lần vì giận tôi có những lời nói và thái độ không tốt trong một cuộc chơi bóng rổ.)
> About a week later, I received a note from a Christian friend who respectfully corrected me, and at the same time expecting me to consider changing my attitude. (Khoãng một tuần sau, tôi nhân được một lá thư từ một người bạn cáo trách tôi về việc mình đã làm và khuyên nên sửa đổi lại thái độ.)
> It was hurt, but he is a good friend and still a great friend to this day, because he made me to be accountable for what I did. (Khi đọc xong lòng thấy đau buồn, nhưng biết mình có người bạn tốt, và người đó ngày nay vẫn còn là bạn tốt, bởi vì giúp đỡ mình tránh xa những điều sai lầm.)
# I am not saying this so you can go around and correcting people. Look at yourself first, pray, before you compel to correct someone; but if you are a good friend, you must help others to be accountable to the mistakes they make in a loving way; you must save their life. > May be we need to check to see - How much time do I spend with the worldly friends versus the Christian friends and make adjustments? (Mỗi người c/ta cũng nên tự xét coi xem mình đangg để thì giờ bao nhiêu với những người bạn đời và bạn trong Chúa không?)
> Being at church and making friends with those who have the same faith are a great way to avoid of being conformed to the pattern of this world. (Chịu khó đi nhà thờ thường xuyên, làm bạn với những người trong Chúa là một cách hay nhất để c/ta tránh bị lập khuôn của đời này.)

> Are we being conformed by the pattern of this world or being transformed into the image of Jesus? (C/ta có càng ngày càng bị lập khuôn theo đời, hay được biến đổi giống như Chúa Giê-xu hơn không?)
# My work place promotes the “health conscience” with a voluntarily program to monitor our health. (Chỗ tôi làm việc, dạo này họ cổ động chương trình sống khỏe.)
> First, you have to do a survey to define your lifestyle from eating, sleeping, activity, stress level... (Trươc hết họ làm thông kê về nếp sống hiện tại của mình: cách ăn uống, làm việc, giải trí, sinh hoạt hằng tuần như thế nào.)
> Secondly, you have to complete a biometric test including blood, cholesterols, sugar… (Sau đó cho đi khám sức khỏe, thử máu, check lượng mỡ, cholesterols, đường…)
> Not done yet, they give you a wristband tracker called “Fitbit.” What does this watch do? (Chưa xong, họ còn phát cho mỗi người một cái đồng hồ đeo tay gọi là “Fitbit” - để làm gỉ?)
# It monitors your heart rates. (Nó dò tốc độ tim đập của mình luôn.)
# It monitors how many steps you walk in a day, and the distance you travel. (Nó dò xem coi mình bước bao nhiêu bước mỗi ngày, với mục tiêu là 10,000 bước, đi được bao nhiêu dặm.)
# It estimates how many calories you can intake/burned. (Nó đóan xem bao nhiêu calories mình đang dùng mỗi ngày.)
# It monitors how you sleep – times that you wake up or turn during sleep. (Nó dò xem mình ngủ nghĩ như thế nàp trong ban đêm có trằn trọc không.)
> All of this, so that you can have a quick assessment about your health to improve it: may be walk a little more, or taking less calories. (Tất cả những điều dò xét này là để c/ta có một dự kiện thực tế về sức khỏe của mình để điều chỉnh ngay, có thể cố gắng đi bộ nhiều hơn, ăn ít calorie lại, ngủ cho đủ, hầu cho c/ta sống khỏe mạnh hơn.)
> But you know, I wish that we can have a tracker to monitor how much I look more liked the world or more liked Christ each day? (Tôi ước gì c/ta cũng có cái máy dò giống như vậy, để xem mỗi ngày mỗi người c/ta sống giống Chúa hơn, hay là giống đời hơn ở tại nhà mình, ở chợ, trường học, sở làm, và hội thánh Chúa, để c/ta điều chỉnh ngay.)
> If it is 70% liked the world and only 30% liked Jesus, then I have to make a quick adjustment right away: May be being more kind, more forgiving, and less criticism? (Nếu máy dò chỉ cho thấy c/ta đang giống đời nhiều hơn, thì c/ta phải lo điều chỉnh: có thể sống nhơn từ hơn, cẩn thận trong lời nói mình hơn, tha thứ hơn, để được giống Chúa Giê-xu hơn.)
> We don’t have that kind of tracker; we just need to discipline ourselves by being yielded to the Holy Spirit more daily, having daily devotions, constantly meditating on Gods’ words on how to obey them, be sensitive of the Holy Spirit convictions in all worship and Bible studies, group meetings, and connecting into a good network of Christians friends, then we would avoid being molded into the pattern of this world, but being transformed to know and prove the good, perfect, and pleasing will of God. (C/ta không có máy dò đó, nhưng mỗi người phải có chương trình kỷ luật thuộc linh: Có thì giờ tĩnh tậm mỗi buổi sáng, trưa và tối, học lời Chúa và cầu nguyện thường xuyên trong mọi sự, cùng một lúc tập nhạy bén trong sự cáo trách của Thần Linh Chúa cho chính mình mỗi khi c/ta học Trường Chúa Nhật hay nghe giảng, và xây dựng một mối liên hệ với những người bạn cùng một niềm tin.)
> Get your spiritual life “fitbit” and make adjustments each day to have the same attitude of Jesus and to obey His teachings. (Hãy có cùng một tâm tình với Chúa Giê-xu và sống theo lời Ngài dạy, để tâm linh khỏe mạnh, không bị lập khuôn bởi những lý thuyết của đời này, nhưng biến đổi trở nên giống Con ĐCT hơn mỗi ngày.)

> God loves us so much when He created the first 2 persons: Adam & Eve.
> He created them in His own image with a purpose that their offsprings would have an eternal fellowship with Him, and enjoy all of His creation.
> But sin has entered into the world, corrupts our mind to be rebellious to God.
> This does not change God’s will; He sent His Son to come into the world to die for our sins and His Spirit to transform us into Jesus’ image more each day, in order that one day, we can have that fellowship again with God.
> This is God’s good and perfect will.
# Do you like your sons and daughters look liked you? Why?
> Because they belong to you and because you love them.
> But the enemies of God hate this and they will do all they can to prevent us from reaching this purpose.
> One of enemies is the world system – their philosophies and ideologies, mostly against the laws of God.
>The world has many means to infiltrate our minds with their philosophies to corrupt our thoughts, attitudes, conduct, and behavior until the day we are perish in the lake of fire.
> We must guard ourselves from the world. We cannot be conformed to its patterns.
> We must avoid all its distractions such as: Busy-ness of life, technologies, and friendships that can manipulate us to tolerate the philosophies of the world and go astray.
> These are the ways the world is pulling us slowly and away from the truths of God. They make us doubt God and His promises.
> This morning you learn many different ways we must guard ourselves from these.
> Just take one learning and apply to your life?
# May be practice simple prayers, asking the Holy Spirit of God to guide you all times, in all life decisions, and to help you to always make right choices that glorify God?
# May be start daily devotions with just 5/5/5 minutes in the morning, noon, and night time to know more of Jesus and following Him?
# May be practiced to be sensitive to what you hear in Bible studies and listen to sermons; expecting the Holy Spirit is talking/teaching/convicting you?
# May be involve more in church fellowship and activities with friends that having the same faith?
> Remember – it’s not important what you know, but what will you do with what you know.
> Start today because if you wait until tomorrow, the knowledge will go into an empty space.
> Pray, read the Bible and fellowship with Christian friends will save your bright future in the Lord and help us to be more liked Jesus each day!
> Let’s the world see a “little Jesus” in you and me!
> Let’s behave liked the Son of God at home, at work, in the community and church.
> Let’s make a difference in this world for our Lord! Amen!
Do not Conform, but be Transformed
(Romans 12:2)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
According to the Bible in 2 Corinthians 5:17, all of those who are “born again” are new creatures. This means that we now have a new Lordship of Jesus Christ, and a new life guide – the Bible. How can the Bible help us? First, the Bible helps to increase our knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Secondly, the Bible helps us to know God’s will for our life. The Bible has many instructions of “Do and Don’t” to guide us on how we should live our life to please God. The goal of following God’s instructions for all believers while living on this earth is to be conformed to the image of his Son,” because this is God’s good, pleasing and perfect will. Our life must be transformed to have the same mind, same lifestyle, speaking the same word, and doing the same things, as Christ did and taught while He was still on this earth.
Although we know this good will for our life, we should NOT neglect the enemies who always prevent us in achieving this goal. We have basically three enemies: 1) The first one is the inner enemy – the powerful flesh living inside each of us that continuously entices us to do our own things, rather than obeying God’s will. 2) The second and invisible enemy who is satan and his evil forces. 3) The third and most influential enemy is the surrounding world system that satan works through, to prevent us from reaching our ultimate goal of being more like Christ. The world influences its philosophies such as: “There is no God; there is no judgment of hell; there is no hurry to believe in Jesus; Jesus is just a myth - so if it feels good, do it now, enjoy it now, why wait.” The world infiltrates its ideologies beginning at our mind with a thought, which yields a plan, then later produces an act, it becomes a habit, and finally it determines a person destination. Don’t you know that the first battle is the battle of the mind, mostly through the eyes where temptations of the world enter into the heart of a person? As it enters, it will corrupt the mind, compromise the truths that already established in one’s heart, and motivate the person into evil actions. The devil always try to “hack” into our minds with lies and myths, to twist God’s truths. That’s why the apostle Paul taught to fight this battle, we must begin with the renewing of the mind because this is where attitudes, lifestyle, and behaviors produce.
There are 3 means that the world influences us away from the truth: 1) First, it is the busy-ness of life. We live in a materialistic world that has many demands of our time. Most of our life time is dedicated to education and works; some work 7 days a week, even after the retirement year. The busy-ness of life is the trick/distractions, the world uses to lure many away from the spiritual matter, because we are so busy doing material things. 2) The technologies through media such as News, TV shows, movies, music, video games, Internet, Facebook – these can slowly change the way we think correctly, if we use them incorrectly. Each of these can be “a seed/a message” the world can sow in our heart to slowly make us being tolerate to its philosophies. 3) Friendship can be a good thing, but ungodly friends can be a powerful and influential force that lead us to go astray, even to disobey our parents, dishonor pastors, and disrespect leaders.
With the knowledge about these powerful influences, how can we avoid of being conformed to the pattern of this world? 1) We need help from the Holy Spirit of God. The basic of winning is very simple, we must have an extraordinary power that is stronger than our enemy, the influencer of the world. Our flesh cannot overcome the force of the world; the only way we can overcome, avoiding the conformity of the world is by the power of the Holy Spirit. Every believer has the Spirit of God living inside us. That’s not the problem; the problem is are we being filled with the Spirit of God, or are we yielding our life to Him for control? Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit Who has the extraordinary power to overcome the world, but we don’t even know Him, and don’t even care to ask for His help. 2) We need to fill our life with the word of God to the point that no “trash” from the world has a room to sneak in. Why do Christians act like the world? A simple answer - because we spend so much time with the worldly things. Not just studying the word, but the key is putting them into practice, then the world cannot conform us into its pattern, especially when the heat is on. The basic of growing is this – it is NOT what you know, but what have you done with what you know. 3) We need to build a strong ally that the world system cannot change our mind of truth. I am talking about an army of good Christian friends. Good friend is hard to find; but finding a good Christian friend is even harder.
