There is Power in Jesus’ Name

(Công Vụ 3:1-10)

 

“Buổi cầu nguyện giờ thứ chín, Phi-e-rơ với Giăng cùng lên đền thờ. 2 Vả, có một người què từ lúc sanh ra, cứ hằng ngày người ta đem đặt tại cửa đền, gọi là Cửa Đẹp, đặng ăn mày những người vào đền. 3 Người thấy Phi-e-rơ và Giăng vào, thì xin hai người bố thí. 4 Phi-e-rơ với Giăng ngó chăm người, rồi nói rằng: Hãy nhìn xem chúng ta. 5 Vậy, người bèn nhìn chăm chăm hai người, tưởng sẽ được chút gì. 6 Nhưng Phi-e-rơ nói với người rằng: Ta chẳng có vàng bạc chi hết, song điều ta có thì ta cho ngươi: nhân danh Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ ở Na-xa-rét, hãy bước đi! 7 Phi-e-rơ nắm tay hữu người đỡ dậy. Tức thì bàn chân và mắt cá người trở nên cứng vững; 8 người liền nhảy, đứng lên và bước đi cùng hai người vào đền thờ, vừa đi vừa nhảy, vừa ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời. 9 Cả dân chúng đều thấy người bước đi và ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời. 10 Người ta nhận là chính người đó đã ngồi tại Cửa Đẹp đền thờ đặng xin bố thí; nên đều bỡ ngỡ và sững sờ về việc đã xảy đến cho người.”

(One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.)

I. Our Limitations

 

> Our human life is full of troubles and suffering. (Cuộc sống con người c/ta có đầy dẫy những khó khăn và trở ngại.)

> Not just troubles because we have to confront with many disasters, misfortunes, tragedies, and failures… coming from hurricanes, floodings, firestorms, earthquakes; but many of us have to deal with the suffering of sicknesses. (Trở ngại không phải chỉ vì c/ta phải đối diện với những xui xẻo, họan nạn, mất mát, thất bại… từ những thiên tai biến cố như lụt lội, bão tố, động đất, cháy rừng; nhưng c/ta còn phải đương đầu với sự khổ sở của bệnh tật nữa.)

> Sickness is something that each of us has to face with, especially when we get older, because we all know that our bodies are not perfect. (Bệnh tật, đau ốm là điều mà chắc chắn mỗi người c/ta phải đối diện với, nhất là khi c/ta lớn tuổi, gìa nua, bởi vì thân xác của c/ta không toàn hỏa mãi.)

> Even worse than that if you were born with a chronic disease or handicap malady, you would be depressed, cannot find the meaning of life - why you are here on this earth? (Còn khó khăn khổ sở hơn nữa, nếu c/ta sanh ra đời mắc phải một sự tàn tật, một căn bệnh kinh niên nào đó, thì càng làm cho đời sống của mình thiếu ý nghĩa, chẳng còn muốn sống nữa?)

 

> Let me rephrase my early statement: our human life is full of limitations that steal the joy out of life. (Cho tôi nói lại - cuộc sống con người của c/ta có đầy dẫy những giới hạn, mà chính những điều hạn chế này đã cướp lấy đi niềm vui cho đời sống.)

 

 

II. The Lamed Man

 

> The story we read this morning told about a lamed man – his limitation was that he could not walk; He was physically disabled because the illness affecting his legs and feet. (Câu chuyện c/ta đã đọc sáng nay về một người bị qùe – sự giới hạn của ông là không đi đứng được bình thường tự do như những người khác, vì ông bị tàn tật ở nơi chân của mình.)

> This disease was with this man for a long time since birth. (Bịnh què này ông đã kinh nghiệm lâu năm từ lúc mới sanh ra đời cho đến khi trưởng thành.)

> Everyday, he waited and depended on others to help carrying him to one of the temple gates called Beautiful; so, he could beg for money to survive. (Mỗi ngày, ông phải đợi và nhờ vả vào những người khác khiêng ông ra, đặt ở trước cổng vào đền thờ gọi là “Cửa Đẹp,” để xin tiền, làm việc ăn mày hầu có thể sống sót.)

# I wonder how he could take care of his hygene, using restrooms, getting food to eat everyday while laying there. (Tôi đọc đến đây suy nghĩ đến vấn đề vệ sinh, ăn uống của ông mỗi ngày, khi nằm ở đó thì người què này tự lo làm sao đây?)

> The place he laid was quite a strategic location because it was a vivid picture, that could convict those who coming to the temple to worship should also love the poor, the handicap by giving alms. (Chỗ ông nằm là một địa điểm rất thích hợp, nhất là cho những người đang vào đền thờ để thờ phượng Chúa, thì chắc lương tâm họ cũng phải bị cáo trách khi thấy những người nghèo đói, tàn tật, ăn xin nằm đó, thì phải lấy tiền ra bố thí mà thôi.)

> Everyday, he was carried there to beg for money, and this lamed man didn’t know anything else to life other than doing that to survive. (Mỗi ngày ông được người ta khiêng đến đó để ăn mày, ngoài ra cuộc sống của ông không còn biết gì nữa.)

> He could lay there and often doubt about the existence of God that many people come to worship – because if God is real than why this disability happens to his life? (Ông nằm đó có lẽ sẽ có lúc suy nghĩ và nghi ngờ về Chúa có thật không, vì nếu Ngài có thật thì tại sao ông lại bị tàn tật từ lúc mới sanh ra?)

> Many times laying there, he saw many people coming to worship in the temple, and thought can religion help my limitation? And the answer was always “hopeless.” (Có lẽ nhiều lần ông thấy vô số người đến đền thờ và tự suy nghĩ về tôn giáo mà họ đang đeo đuổi có giúp gì cho sự giới hạn của ông không; nhưng rồi câu trả lời cho ông chỉ là sự thất vọng mà thôi.)

 

> Until one day, there was two men coming to the temple to pray at around 3 p.m. (Cho đến một ngày kia có 2 người đàn ông đến đền thờ lúc 3 giờ trưa là giờ cầu nguyện.)

# The Jewish people pray 3 times daily: at 9 a.m., 12 noon, and 3 in the afternoon.

> The Bible said the names of two men were Peter and John. (Tên của 2 người đó Kinh Thánh chép là Phiêrơ và Giăng)

> As usually, the lamed man would beg and expect these two men could throw him some money and then walk away. (Cũng như mọi thường, người què này mong 2 người đàn ông này sẽ bố thí quăng vài đồng tiền cho mình rồi bỏ đi như mọi người khác.)

> But this time was different; one of the men came near, commanded him to stare at them and then said: “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Nhưng kỳ này lạ hơn, một người đàn ông bảo với người bị què hãy nhìn vào họ và rồi nói: “Ta chẳng có vàng bạc chi hết, song điều ta có thì ta cho ngươi: nhân danh Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ ở Na-xa-rét, hãy bước đi!”)

 

1) Why did Peter (and John) ask the lamed man to look at them? (Tại sao Phiêrơ cùng Giăng bảo người què phải chăm nhìn họ?)

> Maybe because the lamed man was distracted of something else, maybe he was looking at other people who dressed in nicer clothes that potentially could give him more money? (Có thể vì người què đang bị lo ra chăm chú ở những người khác đang mặc quần áo sang trọng hơn, mà có thể bố thí cho ông được nhiều tiền hơn?)

# Do you recognize that there are many people in this world today who are distracting by so many worldly things, such as fame, pleasures, popularity, power, money, jobs… and not focusing on Jesus to experience healings? (Bạn có để ý thấy ngày hôm nay cũng có vô số đông người ở trong tình trạng bị lo ra giống như vậy, đang chỉ lãng trí trong những việc đời này, lo tìm kiếm danh vọng, thú vui, bằng cấp, được nổi tiếng, thêm quyền chức… mà họ chưa chịu điều chỉnh lại cái nhìn, sự chú tâm của mình hướng về Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu để tìm được sự chữa lành?)

# It can happen right here, when someone comes to church and sits on that pew, but focuses/get distracted by Iphone, Facebook, Group Chat, texting messages or worries… and completely miss the message of healings that God wants to bless that “someone.” (Thật ra điều này cũng có thể xảy ra ở ngay trong phòng này, khi có những người vào nhóm, ngồi trên những bục ghế, nhưng lại để tâm trí bị lo ra vào cái Iphone, xem Facebook, đọc texting, hay suy nghĩ đến những lo lắng của đời sống, làm mình không nghe được tiếng Chúa muốn phán cho riêng mình.)

> W focus on so many things that not of God. (C/ta đang bị lo ra bởi quá nhiều thứ không thuộc về Chúa.)

> But don’t you know - Focus is the first step to experience all kinds of healings. (Nhưng c/ta có biết - sự chú tâm là việc đầu tiên phải có, để một người bắt đầu kinh nghiệm mọi sự chữa lành không?)

> The lamed man must focus on Peter to hear the healing word from Jesus Christ. (Người què phải chú tâm nghe lời Phiêrơ nói, để biết đến quyền năng chữa lành của danh Cứu Chúa Giê-xu.)

 

2) After hearing that, the lamed man probably thought – “Who is this Jesus? Do I know Him? Is He just like any god of myths that people worship? Can he give me some money today? I don’t need to know this Jesus guy, if he doesn’t bless me with some silver coins so I can buy food to eat?” (Có lẽ khi nghe Phiêrơ phán như vậy, người què này tự hỏi: “Ông Giê-xu là ai? Tôi có biết Ngài không? Giê-xu này có phải giống như những chúa thần thoại mà người ta đang thờ lạy không? Giê-xu này có cho tôi tiền được không, nếu không thì tôi đâu cần biết đến Ngài làm chi?”)

> But suddenly the man took him by the right hand, helped him up, and instantly and amazingly the lamed man begun to feel something very strange that he never felt before in his life – His feet and ankles became strong, he could stand up by himself for the first time in his life; more than that he could jump to his feet and began to walk. (Nhưng bất ngờ, người đàn ông đó nắm tay phải của người què, đỡ ông dậy, và ngay tức khắc người què kinh nghiệm sự mầu nhiệm mà ông chưa bao giờ cảm nhận – hai mắt cá và bàn chân của ông trở nên cứng cáp, ông có thể đứng dậy được mà chưa bao giờ biết từ lúc mới sanh ra; hơn nữa bây giờ ông còn nhẩy múa được, và đi đứng lại như bình thường.)

# Oh! this never happened to his life; he never expected this; He probably shouting and said: “What is in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, what is in the power of this name of Christ who strengthen my feet and ankles! I want to know more about Him.” (Lạ lùng thay việc xảy ra trong đời sống của người què mà chưa bao giờ ông kinh nghiệm; có lẽ người què được đi đứng và la lớn tiếng: “Lạ lùng thay danh của Chúa Giê-xu ở Nazarét; lạ lùng thay quyền năng của Đấng Christ đã làm cho mắt cá và chân tôi được mạnh mẽ; tôi tạ ơn Ngài, tôi muốn được biết Chúa Giê-xu Christ này càng hơn.”)

 

> What we should learn next about healing is this - Not just about “focus,” but to experience all kinds of miraculous healings, we must response by faith to believe in the power of the name of Jesus Christ. (Điều nữa c/ta học biết ở đây về sự chữa lành, đó là không phải chỉ chú tâm để nghe biết đến quyền năng của Chúa mà thôi, nhưng c/ta phải đáp lời với Chúa bởi đức tin trong danh của Cứu Chúa Giê-xu mà kinh nghiệm được sự chữa lành.)

# Many people today miss salvation not because they don’t know the Gospel, but rejecting the invitation to come in repentance and to place their faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth. (Biết bao nhiêu người chưa được cứu ngày nay, không phải là vì họ chưa bao giờ nghe Tin Lành, nhưng là vì họ đã từ chối không đáp lời mời gọi, dẫn đến sự ăn năn tội và đặt niềm tin cậy nơi Chúa Giê-xu Christ ở Nazarét.)

> Same thing with many Christians today - they come to church, their ears hear Jesus’ invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,” but they still cannot find rest, because they are not willing to cast all their burdens and worries to Him. (Biết bao nhiêu con cái Chúa ngày nay cũng vậy, họ đi nhà thờ nghe Chúa Giê-xu phán – “Hỡi những kẻ mệt mỏi và gánh nặng, hãy đến cùng Ta, Ta sẽ cho các ngươi được yên nghỉ,” nhưng vẫn chưa tìm được sự yên nghỉ, vì chưa chịu dâng cho Ngài tất cả những gánh nặng lo âu của mình cho Chúa.)

> What had happened if the lamed rejected the help of Peter and didn’t want to stand up? Miracle would not happen; but He did obey; he did response to the pull of Peter; he did believe in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. (Chuyện gì xảy ra nếu người què này không chịu làm theo sự giúp đỡ của Phiêrơ mà đứng dậy? Phép lạ chữa lành này sẽ không xảy ra; nhưng người què đã vâng lời, đã đáp lại sự kéo của Phiêrơ; ông đã tin cậy vào quyền năng của danh Cứu Chúa Giê-xu ở Nazarét.)

# Many years ago, I visited a family that had a sick boy; and I asked the parents that I wanted to pray for the boy to be healed. But the parents said no? They said if the boy got well, they may lose some government benefits. (Cách đây nhiều năm tôi đi thăm viếng một gia đình có một đứa con trai đau nặng. Tôi ngỏ ý muốn cầu nguyện cho cháu được lành, thì người mẹ nói rằng: “Thôi Mục Sư? Vì nếu con trai tôi được khỏe thì gia đình tôi có thể mất những quyền lợi của chính phủ đang cho.)

> Many people miss healings because they are satisfied with what the world offers them. (Vô số người không biết sự chữa lành lạ lùng của Chúa là gì, vì họ đang thỏa mãn với những gì thế gian đang cho.)

> But not the lamed man, he responsed to Peter’s lift and now could walk. (Nhưng người què thì không như vậy, anh đáp lại sự giúp đỡ của Phiêrơ và bắt đầu bước đi được.)

> “Focus and respose by faith” are the keys of many healings. (Chú tâm đến Chúa Giê-xu, lời Ngài hứa và bằng lòng đáp lại bởi đức tin nơi Ngài, dám bước đến là chìa khóa của mọi sự chữa lành.)

 

3) In this event, do you recognize a greater miracle? (Trong sự kiện này, các bạn có nhận biết một phép lạ lớn hơn nữa không?)

> Not just the disability of the lamed man was gone, but more than that he now experienced a new life of knowing God in this Jesus Christ of Nazareth. (Không phải sự giới hạn tàn tật của ông đã không còn nữa; nhưng còn hơn thế nữa, nay ông kinh nghiệm một đời sống mới, biết được Đức Chúa Trời có thật trong danh Cứu Chúa Giê-xu ở Nazarét.)

> He was no longer a beggar in front of the temple, but he was now a son of God through the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ; the Bible said that he along with Peter and John didn’t go to casino to celebrate after that, but went inside the temple courts, jumping, and praising God. (Ông không còn là một kẻ ăn mày nằm ở trước cửa đền thờ nữa; nhưng bầy giờ ông trở nên làm con trai của Đấng Lớn; Kinh Thánh chép người què đã đi lại được không có đến sòng bài ăn mừng, nhưng cùng với Phiêrơ và Giăng đi vào bên trong đền thờ mà thờ phượng ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời.)

 

> The man wanted money, Peter and John gave him something more valuable – Physical healing and the eternal life in Jesus Christ. (Trước đó người què chỉ mong được tiền bạc, nhưng Phiêrơ và Giăng cho ông điều quí gía hơn, đó là sự chữa lành phần thể xác, còn hơn nữa - sự sống đời đời trong danh Chúa Giê-xu.)

> Human tends to focus only on the physical healings because we can see; but our great God blesses us even more of the eternal life in heaven. (Còn người thì thường chỉ chú tâm đến sự chữa lành phần thuộc thể, vì mắt c/ta thấy được, nhưng Chúa còn chúc phước cho c/ta hơn nữa sự sống đời đời trong nước thiên đàng của Ngài một ngày.) 

> Not just the lamed man that now could walk, but the crowd that knew this lamed man was also filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him, and also praising God. (Không phải chỉ người què kinh nghiệm được sự chữa lành, nhưng đám đông người ở đó đã từng biết tình trạng tàn tật của người què này cũng đều bỡ ngỡ, sửng sờ, kinh ngạc về quyền năng của danh Chúa Giê-xu, và họ cũng lớn tiếng ngợi khen Chúa.)

> All healings must bring glory to God, and not to any man, simply because it comes from the powerful name of God’s Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth. (Mọi sự chữa lành phải đem đến sự vinh hiển cho Chúa, chứ không một người nào, vì đến bởi quyền năng của Con Đức Chúa Trời, là Cứu Chúa Giê-xu ở Nazarét.)

 

 

III. The Name of Jesus Christ

 

> What is the power in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth? (Danh Chúa Giê-xu có năng quyền gì?)

 

1) First, the name of a person is the person himself. (Thứ nhất, c/ta phải hiểu khi nói đến danh của một người là nói đến chính người đó.)

> In the Old Testament, when someone spoke of the name of God, he was speaking on behalf of God Himself. (Trong Cựu Ước, khi một người nói trong danh Chúa là nhân danh chính Ngài mà nói.)

In Exodus 15, after the Almighty God rescued His people at the Red sea, Moses and the Israelites sang a song to the Lord praising: “I will sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted. Both horse and driver (of the Egyptians) He has thrown into the sea. 2 “The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. 3 The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name.” (Trong Xuất Hành 15, sau kgi Chúa giải cứu dân sự của Ngài tại biển đỏ thì Môise làm một bài hát ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời như sau: “Đoạn, Môi-se và dân Y-sơ-ra-ên hát bài ca nầy cho Đức Giê-hô-va, rằng: Tôi ca tụng Đức Giê-hô-va, vì Ngài rất vinh hiển oai nghiêm. Ngài đã liệng xuống biển ngựa và người cỡi ngựa. 2 Đức Giê-hô-va là sức mạnh và sự ca tụng của tôi: Ngài đã trở nên Đấng cứu tôi. Ngài là Đức Chúa Trời tôi, tôi ngợi khen Ngài; Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ tôi, tôi tôn kính Ngài. 3 Đức Giê-hô-va là một chiến sĩ; Danh Ngài là Giê-hô-va.”)

# When you sign your name on a contract; it means you yourself is bounded by the contract. (Khi bạn ký vào một giao kèo nào tên của mình, nghĩa là chính bạn bị buộc vào giao kèo đó, phải không?)

 

> When Peter called on the name of Jesus Christ, he called on Jesus, the Son of God Himself. (Khi Phiêrơ nhân danh Chúa Giê-xu Christ ở Naxarét nghĩa là ông gọi chính Chúa Giê-xu, Con của Đức Chúa Trời quyền năng.)

> The Name of Jesus Christ is the name “I AM” of God, Who is (Danh Chúa Giê-xu chính là danh của “Đấng Tự Hữu và Hằng Hữu” là Đấng:)

i) Self-existed, Self-sufficient and Independence – This means nothing creates God, and He does not need anything or anyone in order to exist and survive. (Đấng Tự Có, Tự lập – nghĩa là không có gì sáng tạo ra Chúa và ngài không cần một ai, hay một thứ gì để hiện hữu và tồn tại đời đời.)

ii) is All-powerful – that means there is nothing impossible that God cannot do. (Chúa là Đấng đầy quyền năng, có nghĩa là không có gì Ngài không làm được.)

# In 1 Samuel 17 – the shepherd boy David defeated the giant goliath, not by human weapons, but in the name of the Lord All-powerful. (Đức Giêhôva Vạn Binh quyền năng)

iii) is All-present (Chúa hiện diện ở khắp nơi.)

iv) is All-knowing; this means He never learns new things or forgets anything. (Vì ở khắp mọi nơi, Chúa biết mọi điều, nghĩa là Chúa không cần học một điều nào mới hết, và cũng không bao giờ quên chi hết.)

v) is Unchangeable (Chúa không hề thay đổi)

vi) is eternal, not subjecting to any limitations. (Chúa là đấng Hằng Hữu đời đời, cho nên Ngài không bị giới hạn, ràng buộc bởi không gian hay thời gian.)

 

2) Peter had the power and authority of God to heal when he called upon the name of Jesus Christ. (Phiêrơ có mọi uy quyền chữa lành của Chúa trên người què, khi ông nhân danh Cứu Chúa Giê-xu Christ.)

> In Jesus’ name, Peter had the authority of God Who was once born as a baby boy in Bethlehem by a virgin, grew up in Nazareth, the Jesus that by His hands had done many miracles (at least 34 recorded in the Bible), the God by His mouth came the living words of life and hope, the Savior who died on the cross at Gogotha, the Messiah who was raised to life after 3 days, the Lord who appeared to Peter and many other disciples, the Blesser who gave the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentacost that 3,000 people were saved, and the Christ Who made the lamed man walked. (Trong danh Chúa Giê-xu mà Phiêrơ nhờ cậy, ông có quyền năng của Chúa là Đấng đã một lần sanh ra trong lòng của một người nữ đồng trinh ở Bếtlêhem, lớn lên trong xứ Naxarét, là Chúa Giê-xu toàn năng mà qua chính bàn tay Ngài đã làm trên 34 phép lạ ghi chép trong Kinh Thánh, là Đức Chúa Trời thành nhân mà qua Ngài lời của sự sống đến cho nhân loại, là Đấng Cứu Chuộc đã chết trên cây thập tự gía, là Đấng Xức Dầu đã sống lại sau 3 ngày, là Cứu Chúa đã hiện ra với các môn đồ mình sau khi sống lại, là Đấng Chúc Phước ban cho Thánh Linh trong ngày lễ Ngũ Tuần, và là Chúa Christ bởi danh Ngài mà người què được bước đi.)

> But the power of that name did not stop here, but the Bible said His powerful name will continue to live in us, shine through His church, until the end time that “… at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11) (Nhưng quyền năng của danh Chúa Giê-xu không có ngừng ở đây; Kinh Thánh chép danh uy quyền của Ngài tiếp tục sống trong mỗi c/ta, chiếu sáng qua Hội Thánh của Ngài, cho đến cuối cùng – “hầu cho nghe đến danh Đức Chúa Jêsus, mọi đầu gối trên trời, dưới đất, bên dưới đất, thảy đều quì xuống, và mọi lưỡi thảy đều xưng Jêsus Christ là Chúa, mà tôn vinh Đức Chúa Trời, là Đức Chúa Cha.”)

 

3) That’s why Jesus commanded us to pray in His name, as taught in John 14:13-14, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it?” (Vì vậy mà Chúa Giê-xu trao mạng lệnh cho c/ta phải cầu xin mọi điều trong danh của Ngài – “Các ngươi nhân danh ta mà cầu xin điều chi mặc dầu, ta sẽ làm cho, để Cha được sáng danh nơi Con. Nếu các ngươi nhân danh ta xin điều chi, ta sẽ làm cho.”)

> Praying in Jesus’ name means praying with His authority and asking God the Father to act upon our prayers, because we come in the name of His Son, Jesus. > But don’t ever think that just saying the words “in Jesus’ name” at the end of a prayer is a magic formula to get what we want. (Đừng lẫn lộn đây không có nghĩa là cứ mỗi lần c/ta cầu nguyện, nói những chữ “trong danh Chúa Giê-xu;” là tự động c/ta sẽ được điều mình muốn.)

> Praying in Jesus' name means to pray according to the will of God as taught in 1 John 5:14-15 as “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.” (Cầu nguyện trong danh Chúa Giê-xu nghĩa là cầu xin theo ý muốn tốt lành của Ngài, như lời Chúa dạy – “Nầy là điều chúng ta dạn dĩ ở trước mặt Chúa, nếu chúng ta theo ý muốn Ngài mà cầu xin việc gì, thì Ngài nghe chúng ta. Nếu chúng ta biết không cứ mình xin điều gì, Ngài cũng nghe chúng ta, thì chúng ta biết mình đã nhận lãnh điều mình xin Ngài.”)

> Praying in Jesus’ name is praying for things that will honor and glorify Jesus. (Cầu nguyện trong danh Chúa Giê-xu là hiểu mọi điều c/ta cầu xin được đáp ứng sẽ đem đến sự vinh hiển cho Ngài mà thôi.)

> If what we ask for or say in prayer is NOT for God’s glory and according to His will, then saying “in Jesus’ name” is meaningless. (Nếu tất cả những điều c/ta xin mà không làm sáng danh Chúa thì dù cho có nói “nhân danh Chúa Giê-xu” nhiều lần đi nữa cũng không có ý nghĩa gì hết.)

 

> There are healings both physically and spiritually in the name of Jesus, because in Matthew 28:18-20 said – “… All power is given unto Jesus in heaven and in earth.” (Có sự chữa lành trong danh Chúa Giê-xu vì Kinh Thánh chép: “... Hết cả quyền phép ở trên trời và dưới đất đã giao cho Chúa Giê-xu.”)

> The church’s duty is to help people to focus on Jesus; Their part is to response to His invitation; and God’s part is doing the healings through the power of His Son’s name – Jesus Christ.

 

 

IV. Bring Your Limitations to the Lord Jesus

 

> What are your limitations? (Bạn có những sự giới hạn gì trong cuộc sống của mình không?)

> Do you believe in the name of Jesus of Nazareth Who can deliver you through all of your limitations today? (Bạn có dám tin cậy danh Chúa Giê-xu Christ ở Nazarét là Đấng có thể giải thoát mọi sự hạn chế rang buộc này trong đời sống của bạn không?)

 

> The greatest limitation we all face is the judgment and punishment of sins. (Sự giới hạn lớn nhất của mỗi người c/ta chính là sự đóan xét và trừng phạt của tội lỗi.)

> Because we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Lý do là vì “mọi người đều đã phạm tội, thiếu mất sự vinh hiển của Đức Chúa Trời.”)

> We like the lamed man, we could not do anything to get rid his disability and the sin of unbelief, and avoid of being perish eternally in the lake of fire called hell that would never stop burning. (Giống như người què, ông đã không tự làm gì được để chữa lành sự tàn tật và tội lỗi không tin của mình, để tránh khỏi sự hư mất đời đời trong hồ lửa địa ngục, cháy không hề tắt.)

> We have tried everything: religions, chanting, going to church, giving alms to the poor, “self-discipline” and even if we surrender our body to be burned, all of these have no affect in rescuing us out of hell into heaven. (C/ta cũng vậy đã từng nhờ cậy vào tôn giáo, công đức tụng kinh, công lao đi nhà thờ, làm việc thiện, tu thân tích đức, đánh mình ép xác, kể cả ý tưởng đốt mình chết cho lý tưởng cao đẹp, nhưng mọi sự là hư không - không thể nào giải cứu c/ta ra khỏi điạ ngục mà được vào nước thiên đàng.)

> Only by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we are saved. (Chỉ bởi danh Chúa Giê-xu Christ ở Naxarét, c/ta được cứu và chữa lành.)

# That was why when Luke wrote in Acts 4:12, he declared – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Vì vậy mà Luca khi viết sách Tin Lành đã khẳng định – “Chẳng có sự cứu rỗi trong đấng nào khác; vì ở dưới trời, chẳng có danh nào khác ban cho loài người, để chúng ta phải nhờ đó mà được cứu.” chỉ có danh Giê-xu Christ mà thôi.)

 

> Why are you still struggling by yourself in vain? (Tại sao bạn cứ gắng công tranh đấu vô ích hoài vậy?)

> Why don’t you come to Jesus? (Tại sao bạn không bước đến với Chúa Giê-xu đi?)

> Let Him lift you up above all limitations then you will know Him like never before. (Hãy để Chúa nâng bạn ra khỏi những giới hạn và rồi bạn thật biết Ngài như chưa bao giờ biết.)

# God promised in Romans 10:13 – “for, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jesus) will be saved.” (Lời Chúa hứa – “Vì ai kêu cầu danh Chúa (Giê-xu) thì sẽ được cứu.”)

> Why do you keep coming to dead people that cannot save? (Tại sao bạn cứ tìm kiếm sự sống ở nơi những người chết vậy?)

> Come to Jesus Who in the Revelation 1:18 said – “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Hãy đến với Chúa Giê-xu là Đấng đã một lần tuyên bố: “Ta là Đấng Sống, Ta đã chết, kìa nay Ta sống đời đời, cầm chìa khóa của sự chết và âm phủ.”)

 

> Do you want to experience a joyful and meaningful life? (Bạn có muốn kinh nghiệm một cuộc đời có ý nghĩa không?)

# Focus, response to His invitation, and call upon the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth today. (Hãy chú tâm, hãy đáp lại lời mời gọi của Chúa, hãy nhân danh Chúa Giê-xu Christ ở Naxarét ngay giờ phút này.)

> I will have two different invitations this morning:

1) Invite you to come and place your faith in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, if you have never done this.

# Believe that Jesus has died for you on the cross – all your sins are forgiven, cleansed in His blood.

# Believe that Jesus gives you the hope of the eternal life in heaven when He returns the second time.

 

2) Second invitation – anyone here dares to come and bring all your limitations – whatever they are to Jesus Christ of Nazareth today?

> Do you expect healings?

# Expect and ask for His healing – either physically, emotionally or spiritually.

# Restore the lost of joy as a Christian?

# Need power to overcome some of the temptations?

# An addiction of lust that has shackled or bounded your life so long?

# Give back the happiness in the homelife between husbands and wives, parents and children?

# To heal the bitterness due to a broken relationship?

# To forgive, to love your enemies and pray for them?

# A self-will that you don’t want to give up?

# More strength to serve God?

# More boldness to be an effective witness for Jesus?

# A better Sunday school teacher?

# A more faithful leader of God’s church?

# A chronic sickness that bothers you for so long?

 

> We will come in the front, response to Jesus’ invitation, place every limitations before God and we will pray in the powerful name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

 

The Powerful Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth

(Acts 3:1-10)

 

·   Our human life is full of __________ and suffering.
