Does Our Faces Glow?
(Xuất Hành 34:1-5/28-35)
“Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy đục hai bảng đá như hai bảng trước; rồi ta sẽ viết trên hai bảng nầy các lời đã ở nơi hai bảng kia, mà ngươi đã làm bể. 2 Ngày mai, hãy chực cho sẵn, vừa sáng lên trên đỉnh núi Si-na-i, đứng trước mặt ta tại đó. 3 Không ai nên lên theo cùng ngươi hết, khắp núi không nên thấy có người, và chiên, bò cũng chẳng nên ăn cỏ nơi núi nầy nữa. 4 Môi-se bèn đục hai bảng đá, y như hai bảng trước; dậy sớm, cầm theo tay hai bảng đó lên trên núi Si-na-i, y như lời Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn. 5 Đức Giê-hô-va ngự xuống trong đám mây, đứng gần bên Môi-se và hô danh Giê-hô-va… 28 Môi-se ở đó cùng Đức Giê-hô-va trong bốn mươi ngày và bốn mươi đêm, không ăn bánh, cũng không uống nước; Đức Giê-hô-va chép trên hai bảng đá các lời giao ước, tức là mười điều răn. 29 Khi Môi-se tay cầm hai bảng chứng đi xuống núi Si-na-i, chẳng biết rằng da mặt mình sáng rực bởi vì mình hầu chuyện (thưa chuyện) Đức Giê-hô-va. 30 Nhưng A-rôn cùng cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên nhìn Môi-se thấy mặt người sáng rực, sợ không dám lại gần. 31 Môi-se bèn gọi họ, A-rôn cùng các hội trưởng đến gần; rồi nói chuyện cùng họ. 32 Kế sau, cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đến gần, người truyền dặn các điều của Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn mình nơi núi Si-na-i. 33 Môi-se thôi nói chuyện cùng họ, liền lấy lúp (màn) che mặt mình lại. 34 Khi Môi-se vào trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va đặng hầu chuyện Ngài, thì dở lúp lên cho đến chừng nào lui ra; đoạn ra nói lại cùng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên mọi lời Ngài đã phán dặn mình. 35 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên nhìn mặt Môi-se thấy da mặt người sáng rực, thì Môi-se lấy lúp che mặt mình cho đến khi nào vào hầu chuyện Đức Giê-hô-va.”
(The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai. Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain. 3 No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.” 4 So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands. 5 Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord… 28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments. 29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.)
I. The Worldly Influence
> Have you wondered about - how much of the media and communication technology have influenced our world today? (Bạn có bao giờ suy nghĩ coi xem tin tức thế giới và những kỹ thuật máy móc điện tử để liên lạc… đang ảnh hưởng đời sống của c/ta như thế nào ngày hôm nay không?)
# For sure, we spent a chunk of money every month on electronic stuffs and cable services? (Chắc rằng nhiều người trong c/ta đang tốn rất nhiều tiền để xử dụng những máy móc điện tử?)
# According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statics, the average annual expenditures for entertainement related to internet, cables, video games, and Iphone per family is more than 3,000$. (Theo thống kê của cơ quan lao động cho biết mỗi gia đình ở Mỹ hiện nay đang tốn trung bình khoãng trên 3,000$ mỗi năm cho các hệ thống máy móc như Iphone, các đài TV cables, phim ảnh - Netflix, trò chơi điện tử, và sử dụng hệ thống Internet.)
> How much our daily decisions are depending on these electronic stuffs? Or how much time do these stuffs control our life? (Sự quyết định của c/ta mỗi ngày đang bị ảnh hưởng bởi những thứ này là bao nhiêu? Hay nói cách khác, những máy móc điện tử đang điều khiển cuộc sống của c/ta như thế nào?)
II. Christianity Influence
> What’s about Christianity – how much is it influencing the world today? (Còn đạo cơ đốc thì sao? Đang ảnh hưởng thế giới và xã hội là bao nhiêu?)
> Do Christians make a big impact in the United States today? (Cơ đốc nhân có còn tác động mạnh trên đời sống của những người sống trong nước Hoakỳ ngày nay không?)
> Or is Christianity in decline in America? (Hay là đạo cơ đốc đang trên đà xuống dốc?)
# Over the past few decades, the % of Christians in America has been steadily declining, especially been true among young people – they are leaving churches. (Những thống kê cho thấy trong vài thế kỷ qua, số người cơ đốc giảm xuống nhanh chóng ở Mỹ, nhất là cho giới trẻ, nhiều em thanh niên và sinh viên đại học đang rời bỏ Hội Thánh.)
> One survey conducted by the Barna Group on the 6 following Biblical statements: (Một thống kê của nhóm Barna với 6 điều tín lý căn bản sau đây:)
1) Believing that absolute moral truth exists; (Tin có những lẽ thật tuyệt đối không?)
2) Believing that the Bible is completely accurate in all of the principles it teaches; (Có tin Kinh Thánh là lời lẽ thật chính xác từ Chúa ban không?)
3) Believing that Satan is considered to be real, not merely symbolic; (Có tin quyền lực của thế giới ma quỉ satan là có thật không?)
4) Believing that a person cannot earn his way into Heaven by trying to be good or by doing good works; (Có tin rằng một người chỉ vào được nước thiên đàng không phải bởi vì là một người tốt, hay bởi làm những việc lành, nhưng bởi đặt niềm tin nơi Chúa Giê-xu không?)
5) Believing that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth; (Có tin rằng Chúa Giê-xu đã sống một cuộc đời vô tội, thánh sạch vẹn toàn khi Ngài ở trên đất không?)
6) Believing that God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world Who still rules the universe today. (Có tin rằng Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng quyền năng và vẫn đang tể trị thế giới và vũ trụ không?)
> Less than 1 % of the participants agreed with all of these 6 statements. (Điều ngạc nhiên là trong vòng những người được phỏng vấn chỉ dưới 1% số người đều tin 6 điều trên là đúng mà thôi.)
> If the same survey is conducted for our church Bible teachers and leaders today, I wonder what % we will have? (Tôi suy nghĩ nếu cùng một thống kê làm ngay trong VHBC với những người lãnh đạo và thầy cô hướng dẫn dạy Kinh Thánh thì là mấy %?)
> The results of one survey conducted by LifeWay Christian Resources show: (Thống kê nữa của cơ quan Lifeway cho biết:)
# 38 % of Americans never pray by themselves; (38% người sống ở Mỹ chưa bao giờ biết cầu nguyện riêng)
# 46 % never think about whether they will go to heaven or not; (46% dân số Mỹ không biết chắc mình sẽ lên thiên đàng hay không)
# 65 % rarely or never attend worship services of any kind. (65% không đi nhóm một nhà thờ nào hết)
# 67 % don’t read the Bible on a regular basis. (67% người ở Mỹ không thường đọc Kinh Thánh.)
> Without a doubt, in the US - churches are shrinking; America is becoming a less “Christian” nation. (C/ta thấy rõ đạo cơ đốc đang bị thu nhỏ lại, và nước Hoakỳ này càng ngày càng trở thành một nước vô thần chăng?)
> Another concerned survey found that 23 % of all American Christians claim to believe in astrology, and 22 % believe in reincarnation. (Những điều lo lắng nữa là 23% những người xưng mình là cơ đốc cũng nói rằng họ tin vào thuật chiêm tinh, bói toán, và 23% tin rằng họ cũng sẽ đầu thai kiếp khác.)
> Why? What has happened? How can we reverse these trends? (Tại sao tình huống như vậy? Làm thế nào để c/ta có thể quay ngược những chiều hướng này đây?)
> What can each of us as a Christian do? (Mỗi người là cơ đốc nhân phải làm gì đây?)
> How can we continue to influence Christianity to the world, to our community? (Làm thế nào để c/ta có lại sự ảnh hưởng của đạo Chúa trên thế giới, và xã hội mình đang sống đây?)
III. Source of Influence
> We must understand where is the power of influence comes from. (C/ta trước hết phải ý thức sự ảnh hưởng của đạo đến từ đâu.)
1) First, the positive influence of Christianity depends on individuals, each Christian, each family and each church. (Sự ảnh hưởng mạnh của đạo cho thế giới đến từ mỗi cá nhân, mỗi gia đình cơ đốc, và mỗi Hội Thánh Chúa.)
# Never forget when the first cell phone came out to the market, there was a great commercial advertisement on TV showing in a middle of a football game, the stadium experienced a black out.
> The game stopped for a moment and everyone looked worried; but then one person in the audience opened his flap cell phone to shine a little light, then everyone else in the stadium did the same thing – they lighted up the whole stadium and the game started again.
> Each of us is a light shining for Jesus in this dark world. (Mỗi người c/ta có những tia ánh sáng chiếu rọi Chúa Giê-xu trong thế giới đen tối này.)
> That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-15 – “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Vì lý do đó Chúa Giê-xu đã một lần phán: “Các ngươi là sự sáng của thế gian; một cái thành ở trên núi thì không khi nào bị khuất được: cũng không ai thắp đèn mà để dưới cái thùng, song người ta để trên chân đèn, thì nó soi sáng mọi người ở trong nhà.”)
> Sometimes we feel that “my little me” doesn’t make any difference; but without many “little lights” that shine for Jesus together, we cannot change the world for God. (Nhiều khi c/ta tự nghĩ “tia ánh sáng nhỏ nhoi của tôi” không có ảnh hưởng chi hết, nhưng chưa hiểu rằng nếu không có sự hiệp tác của những tia sáng nhỏ này lại với nhau, cơ đốc nhân không thể thay đổi thế giới cho Chúa được.)
2) Secondly, the individual influencial power comes from the personal relationship of that person with God, just as a little battery cell that gives energy to the smart phone. (Sức mạnh ảnh hưởng của mỗi cơ đốc nhân lệ thuộc vào mối liên hệ tương giao của cá nhân đó với Chúa; giống như là năng lực của cục pin nhỏ đem đến năng lượng cho máy Iphone.)
> An illustration that exhibits this truth is the personal encounter of Moses with God recorded in Exodus 34. (Một hình bóng minh họa lẽ thật này là sự kiện khi Môise được thưa chuyện riêng với Đức Chúa Trời có chép trong sách Xuất Hành 34.)
> What is the background in Exodus 34? (Bối cảnh của đoạn này là khi nào?)
> The Israelites were travelling in the dessert – the time that God tested and trained His people to be faithful. (Đây là lúc dân sự của Chúa bị lưu lạc trong đồng vắng, là lúc Chúa đang thử thách và rèn luyện họ.)
> God gave them the 10 commandments, so the Israelites could know how to live in respect to God and with one another as God’s own people. (Đức Chúa Trời đã một lần ban cho họ 10 điều răn của Ngài để hướng dẫn dân sự sống theo ý của Chúa.)
# The first 4 commandments are the basic principles related to the vertical relationship between God and His people. (4 Điều răn đầu tiên là những yếu tố trong mối liên hệ bề dọc với Chúa.)
# The next 6 commandments are commandments for maintaining a harmony horizontal relationship among Gods’ people on how they should live. (6 Điều răn tới là những mạng lệnh họ phải sống liên hệ với nhau như thế nào.)
> When Moses received the 10 commandments written down on the two tablets of stone the first time, he broke them because Moses was angry when he came down from the mountain, and saw God’s people worshipped the golden cow. (Khi Môise đã nhận 2 bảng điều luật đầu tiên thì ông đã lỡ đập bể khi xuống núi, vì giận dữ khi thấy dân sự mình thờ con bò vàng.)
> So in Exodus 34, God called Moses to come up to mount Sinai the second time; so, He could give him the 10 commandments again. (Trong đoạn 34 này, Đức Chúa Trời gọi Môise lên núi Si-nai lần nữa để Ngài ban lại 10 điều răn.)
> Moses prepared two new tablets of stone, woke up early, and came up to the mountain to meet God. (Môise đục 2 bảng đá mới, thức dậy sớm, và lên núi thưa chuyện cùng Chúa.)
> Moses was on the mountain with God alone for 40 days and 40 nights, without eating or drinking. (Môise ở đó với Chúa 40 ngày, 40 đêm, không ăn cũng như không uống nước.)
a) This was an amazing phenomenon that when you are near to God, you would no longer care about everything around you, including food and water; you don’t even care if your favorite football team has won or lost, if your stocks are doing good, how many “liked” you received with your posted pictures on Facebook or U-tube, or how much discount you can get for an Iphone8 at Best Buy. (Đây là một hiện tượng phi thường khi c/ta gần Chúa, c/ta sẽ không còn lo lắng những điều thuộc thế gian này - kể cả vấn đề ăn uống, không lo lắng coi xem đội thể thao của mình thắng hay thua, công khố phiếu của mình đang lên hay xuống, bao nhiêu người thích những hình c/ta đã đăng trên facebook, hay là mua Iphone8 được rẻ hơn bao nhiêu ở BestBuy?)
# It’s so sad to hear that couple weeks ago, a drunken 27-year-old man from Florida reportedly caught himself fire with third-degree burns after his favorite Dallas Cowboys team lost to the Green Bay Packers.
> It was amazing that when Moses was near to God, His glory sustained the physical body of Moses that he didn’t need food or water to survive. (Điều lạ thường là khi Môise ở gần Chúa, phần thuộc thể của ông không cần gì nữa để tồn tại, vì sự vinh hiển của Chúa nuôi sống mọi phần trong đời sống của ông.)
> I wish that I could be there to experience what Moses felt when he was near to God. (Tôi ước gì có lúc Chúa đem tôi lại và kinh nghiệm điều mà Môise đã có ở trên núi đó với Chúa.)
> But don’t you know that this will happen when all of us one day enter into heaven where God resides as Revelation 22:4-5 said: “They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Nhưng bạn có biết rằng điều này sẽ xảy đến cho mỗi kẻ tin nhận Chúa Giê-xu không, mà Khải Huyền 22:4-5 có chép: “chúng sẽ được thấy mặt Chúa, và danh Chúa sẽ ở trên trán mình. Đêm không còn có nữa, 5 và chúng sẽ không cần đến ánh sáng đèn hay ánh sáng mặt trời, vì Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời sẽ soi sáng cho; và chúng sẽ trị vì đời đời.”)
> The energy of living and glorious light will come from God alone, and that’s all we will need to last forever, even longer than “Energizer” bunnies batteries. (Năng lực lạ lùng từ sự sáng vinh hiển của Chúa mà thôi là điều duy nhất c/ta sẽ có để sống đời đời và tồn tại mãi mãi.)
b) What happened to Moses when he came down of the mountain after encountering with God? (Chuyện gì xảy ra khi Môise xuống núi, sau khi hầu chuyện với Đức Chúa Trời?)
> His face was glowing that Moses didn’t even know. (Da mặt của Môise sáng rực mà chính ông cũng không biết.)
> Our new transformed life does not change overnight, but it will surely change slowly at a pace that we didn’t even notice it. (Sự biến đổi dần trong đời sống thuộc linh của c/ta không chỉ qua một đêm là có, nhưng là một tiến trình từ từ mỗi ngày, mà nhiều khi c/ta không để ý.)
# Suddenly our vocabulary, the words that we now use are different? (Bỗng nhiên nhìn lại thấy những chữ và lời c/ta sử dụng bây giờ từ khi tin nhận Chúa đã thay đổi?)
# Our reasoning has been transformed to the Bible standards? (Sự suy luận của c/ta cũng biến đổi dần dần theo những tiêu chuẩn của lời Chúa lúc nào mà mình không biết?)
> We start thinking liked the Son of God because we begin to have the mind of Christ? (Nhiều sự định đoán của c/ta trở nên giống như Chúa, vì c/ta có một tâm thần mới của Con Ngài là Chúa Giê-xu.)
# Our behaviors now are not the same as the old ways, and our friends and neigbors begin to take notice? (Cách cư xử, thói quen của c/ta cũng không còn như cũ nữa, không còn giống như những người hàng xóm hay kiểu cách của người bạn đời nữa?)
> In the sense that our “face” is glowing, reflecting God’s attributes of love, peace and joy. (Theo nghĩa bóng - Gương mặt của c/ta tỏa sáng, đời sống của c/ta phản ảnh những đặc tánh của Đức Chúa Trời.)
# A guy used to drink and got drunk a lot, but after a Sunday service – the message touched his heart.
> He decided to stop drinking and to change the way he used to treat his wife from that day on.
> After work on the next Monday, he passed by a flower shop to buy a bouquet of rose, plus a bag of chocolate candies and was really excited to come home to surprise his wife.
> He rang the bell with a big smile.
> His wife opened the door, saw him and screamed: “Oh heaven sake, I already had a bad day, dinner is burned, Tommy got a fight in school, baby spilled foods on the floor, the laundry washer is broken, and here you coming home, drinking and got drunk again!”
> Has our new Christian life surprised or shocked anyone? (Đời sống biến đổi của c/ta tỏa sáng sự vinh hiển của Chúa có đang làm ai ngạc nhiên không?)
> The glowing on Moses’ face did not come from himself, but the reflection of the glory of God when Moses was near Him. (Sự tỏa sáng trên da và gương mặt của Môise không đến từ chính ông, nhưng phản chiếu từ sự vinh hiển của Chúa, vì Môise ở gần Ngài 40 ngày và đêm.)
> When we are nearer to the Lord Jesus, our face like mirrors that reflect Gods’ glory, as explained by Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:15-16 – “Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (Khi c/ta gần gủi Chúa Giê-xu thì Thánh Linh làm cho mặt c/ta sẽ như tấm gương phản chiếu sự vinh hiển của Ngài; còn hơn nữa, Ngài biến đổi cuộc đời của c/ta càng trở nên giống như hình bóng của Con Đức Chúa Trời là Chúa Giê-xu Christ.)
> How will our life be, wordly or godly; it will depend on WHO are we staying near to. (Cuộc sống của c/ta theo lối người thế gian hay giống Chúa sẽ tùy thuộc vào ai là người, là Đấng c/ta đang ở gần mỗi ngày.)
> If we daily focus only on the worldly things then we will walk and talk like the world; but if we are near God, we will walk and talk liked His Son, Jesus Christ. (Nếu cả ngày c/ta chỉ chú tâm đến những việc của đời này mà thôi thì c/ta sẽ sống giống như người đời, còn nếu c/ta gần Chúa mỗi ngày qua sự cầu nguyện và học lời Chúa thì chắc rằng c/ta sẽ giống Con Ngài.)
# Our old Vietnamese saying correctly: “If you live near the light, you will act righteously; but if you stay in the dark, your thoughts and actions will be wicked.” (Ông bà của c/ta cũng đã nói: “Gần mực thì sao, còn gần đèn thì sao?” bộ c/ta quên rồi à?)
> I always believe that if a person is truly draw closer to God and His words through praying, studying and obeying, that person cannot look like the world. (Tôi luôn tin rằng nếu một người luôn gần gũi với Chúa, xa lánh những thói tục của đời này thì mọi lời người nói, mọi việc người làm sẽ “ngược đời,” mà đem vinh hiển đến cho Chúa.)
# Do you ever wonder why Paul said in Philippians 3:18-19 – “For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.” (Bạn có bao giờ hiểu tại sao sứ đồ Phaolô có nói trong Philíp 3 như sau: “Vì tôi đã thường nói điều nầy cho anh em, nay tôi lại khóc mà nói nữa: lắm người có cách ăn ở như là kẻ thù nghịch thập tự giá của Đấng Christ. Sự cuối cùng của họ là hư mất; họ lấy bụng mình làm chúa mình, và lấy sự xấu hổ của mình làm vinh hiển, chỉ tư tưởng về các việc thế gian mà thôi.”)
> Some of people may call themselves Christians, even going to church, but had lived liked the enemies of the cross. (Bạn có biết rằng có những người xưng mình là cơ đốc nhân trong Hội Thánh Philíp, nhưng chính họ lại sống như kẻ thù của thập tự gía, vì bên trong không hề có sự gần gũi với chính Chúa.)
> They could do a lot of good works and have praises with their lips, but their heart is far from God. (Họ có thể đang làm nhiều việc tốt lành bên ngoài, nhưng bên trong tấm lòng đang xa Chúa.)
> They could even perform many miracles in the name of Jesus as said in Matthew 7, but on the last day He plainly said “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Kể cả họ có thể làm phép lạ trong danh Chúa Giê-xu, nhưng rồi Chúa Giê-xu phán với họ trong ngày sau rốt: “Hỡi kẻ làm gian ác, ta chẳng biết các ngươi bao giờ, hãy lui ra khỏi ta!”)
> Moses’ face was glowing that caused a fear from Aaron and God’s people. (Da mặt tỏa sáng của Môise làm cho Arôn và dân sự Chúa sợ không dám đến gần.)
> So Moses had to put on a veil, when he came in to speak with God, he opened it up; when Moses spoke with God’s people, he closed it down. (Cho nên Môise phải làm một cái màn che đi, mỗi khi nói chuyện với dân sự Chúa, ông lấy màn che mặt mình liạ, còn khi vào thưa chuyện với Chúa, Môise dở cái màn lên.)
IV. Is our Face Glowing for Jesus?
> Do you really want to have a great influence of God to all people you meet everyday? (Bạn có thật muốn đời sống của nmình phản chiếu sự vinh hiển của Chúa đến cho mọi người xung quanh không?)
> Your face must glow of the glory of God. (Gương mặt của bạn phải tỏa sáng sự vinh hiển của Chúa.)
# I am not talking about the “shining” liked many of Korean singer stars who have “glassy skin” on their faces, because they wear some kind of face masks all the time? (Tôi không có nói đến sự sáng sủa trên gương mặt giống như những tài tử ca sĩ đại hàn là vì họ dùng những mặt nạ thẩm mỹ.)
> I don’t mean physically, but through the words, positive attitudes, and godly characters reflecting the glory and attributes of God, that are loving, forgiving, compassionate, understanding, humble, serving, liked the Son of God – Jesus Christ. (Nhưng tôi nói đến sự phải chiếu của những lời tốt lành c/ta nói, thái độ khích lệ, tinh thần cảm thông, hay tha thứ, khiêm nhường, thói quen phục vụ người khác, giống như Con Đức Chúa Trời.)

> We many times glorify ourselves with our accomlishments, our degrees hang on the wall, our trophies, our expensive cars, our big houses, our bank accounts, our diamond sizes, our hair styles, brandname clothes, our religious activities, even our knowledged of the Bible. (Nhiều khi c/ta khoe sự vinh hiển của mình qua những thành công đạt được, bằng cấp treo trên tường, loại xe đắt tiền c/ta lái, nhà cao cửa rộng, ngân quỹ trong nhà bank, hột xoàn lớn cỡ nào, kiểu tóc c/ta có, loại quần áo hiệu c/ta mặc đắt tiền hơn người khác, những việc đạo đức c/ta đã làm được, hay kể cả sự hiểu biết rộng lời của Chúa?)
# Sometimes you talk to people and heard how they brag about their children, being doctors, lawyers, engineers… but the Bible teaches us that if we want to brag then brag about how much you know God, as said in Jeremiah 9:23-24 – “This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.” (Nhiều khi nghe những người hay khoe về con cáimình, nào là học bác sĩ, luật sư, kỹ sư, nhưng Kinh Thánh lời Chúa dạy c/ta muốn khoe thì khoe gì? “Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Người khôn chớ khoe sự khôn mình; người mạnh chớ khoe sự mạnh mình; người giàu chớ khoe sự giàu mình. Nhưng kẻ nào khoe, hãy khoe về trí khôn mình biết ta là Đức Giê-hô-va, là Đấng làm ra sự thương xót, chánh trực, và công bình trên đất; vì ta ưa thích những sự ấy, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.)
> Sometimes we borrow other people’s glory, so we can look good before men. (Có khi c/ta khoe về những người khác mà c/ta biết đến để lấy chút uy tín cho riêng mình – “tôi biết ông đó, bà nọ...”)
> But every glories in this world never last long, they will be fading away quickly through time, in fire, by hurricanes, by earthquakes, and even death. (Mọi vinh quang thuộc đời này không tồn tại mãi đâu, nhưng sẽ phai nhạt trôi qua theo thời gian, trong lửa, cuốn đi bởi bão tố, phá đổ bởi động đất, kể cả bị tiêu huỷ trong sự chết.)
> We focus so much on our performances that we lose sight of God’s power, presence and glory. (Biết bao nhiêu lần c/ta dựa trên những kỳ công của mình làm được, mà không thấy quyền năng, sự hiện diện và vinh hiển của Chúa.)
> How do we know God? How can we have the understand of God? (Làm sao c/ta biết Chúa được?)
# Very simple, by spending time with God and His words. (Rất đơn giản, bằng cách để thì giờ với Chúa mỗi ngày.)
> The best time of a day should be the time we encounter with God through praying and reading His words. (Thì giờ đẹp nhất mỗi ngày của c/ta phải là lúc c/ta tương giao với Ngài qua sự cầu nguyện và học lời Ngài.)
> Then our faces will shine joy, peace, contentment; and our mouth will speak healing words, even in difficult situations. (Và rồi da mặt của c/ta sẽ rạng chói sự vui mừng, bình an, thỏa lòng; và miệng c/ta sẽ nói toàn là những lời lành, có quyền phép của Chúa để chữa lành mọi bệnh tật, cho dù có lúc khó khăn đi nữa.)
# Acts 4:13 – When Peter and John before the Sanhedrin, how did the Jewish leaders recognize them? “… they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus,” (Trong Công Vụ 3, khi Phiêrơ và Giăng đứng trước toà Công Luận của người Do Thái thì họ nhận biết gì? “Khi chúng thấy sự dạn dĩ của Phi-e-rơ và Giăng, biết rõ rằng ấy là người dốt nát không học, thì đều lấy làm lạ; lại nhận biết hai người từng ở với Đức Chúa Jêsus.”)
> People around us – do they know that we belong to Jesus and have been with Him everyday? Or will they surprise when we said that we are Christians? (Những người xung quanh có nhận biết c/ta thuộc của Chúa Giê-xu không, và đang từng ở gần với Ngài? Hay là khi họ biết c/ta là cơ đốc nhân thì họ rất lấy làm ngạc nhiên?)
> Our life must be the reflecting mirrors for God, radiates His spiritual presence, power and glory. (Đời sống của mỗi c/ta phải là những tấm gương tỏa sang/phản ảnh sự hiện hữu, quyền năng và vinh hiển của Chúa.)
> May we all can be drawn nearer to God by spending time with Jesus daily. (Nguyện xin Chúa kéo mỗi người c/ta lại gần với Ngài luôn mỗi ngày.)
> May the Holy Spirit purify our heart and mind daily. (Xin Thánh Linh Ngài thánh sạch đời sống của c/ta mỗi ngày.)
> May God’s glory shine through us into this dark world daily. (Xin Chúa rạng chiếu sự vinh hiển của Ngài qua đời sống của c/ta mỗi ngày.)
> So many people daily can be drawn to Your salvation through your Son, Jesus Christ. (Để mỗi ngày nhiều người được thấy sự vinh hiển của Chúa qua c/ta, và nhận biết được cứu rỗi trong Con Ngài là Cứu Chúa Giê-xu Christ. Amen!)

> Maybe it needs some checks & adjustment because it doesn’t really shine the glory of Jesus?

> Are you committing to spend time to be nearer to God and His words, or your life is so busy?
> Are you “facing time” with Jesus?
> Do you have His phone as your no. 1 favorite number?
> Do you want to know God’s presence and experience His power?
> Do our actions reflect the glory of His words in the Bible, or they are the same weeks after weeks?
> Do our words we say in our homes, church, work places, schools, in markets shine the glory of God’s attributes of love, forgiving, humility, peace, joy, and holiness?
> Do you want to be a better Sunday school teacher?
# Spending time with Jesus Who can teach you how.
> Do you want to be an effective leader for God’s church?
# Spending time with Jesus Who can give you clear vision of how you should lead His church.
> Do you want to be bold in sharing God’s love at school, or at work?
# Spending time with Jesus to know God and have His power.
> As Christians, we all have the glory of God because we have the Holy Spirit living in our heart.
> But we must allow Him to control and guide our life, words, and actions.
# We are liked full-oil lamps, but we must allow the Holy Spirit to light up our lamps so we can shine for Jesus.
> We must have a desire to draw nearer to God every day in quiet times, to make a difference in this world, and to shine His glory to the ends of this earth… until Jesus returns.
> We must look at Jesus, be with Jesus everyday… for He will change our mind, purify our heart and shine His glory through our life.
> Start a devotion time by spending time with Jesus.
> Faithfully doing it everyday.
> If you need help, ask any of the leaders that they can help you – because they should already do it everyday and know how.
> Would you make that commitment to God right now?
> The church of God is strong or weak does not depend on how many programs we have, but how many Christians often spend time with Jesus.
