(Seeking Wisdom)
(Giacơ 1:5-6)
“Ví bằng trong anh em có kẻ kém khôn ngoan, hãy cầu xin Đức Chúa Trời, là Đấng ban cho mọi người cách rộng rãi, không trách móc (quở trách/phiền trách) ai, thì kẻ ấy sẽ được ban cho. Nhưng phải lấy đức tin mà cầu xin, chớ nghi ngờ; vì kẻ hay nghi ngờ giống như sóng biển, bị gió động và đưa đi đây đi đó."
(If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.)
I. Wisdom
> It’s very natural for everyone of us lives in this world wanting to have a good life, being prosperous, happy and successful. (Điều rất tự nhiên là ai trong c/ta sống trên đời này cũng mong có một đời sống tốt lành, thịnh vượng, sung sướng và thành công.)
> To achieve these goals, it depends on how wise you make all your decisions in life. (Nhưng để đạt được những mục đích tốt lành này nó sẽ tùy thuộc vào mọi sự quyết định của mình có khôn ngoan không?)
# A broker can become rich quickly, if he makes wise investments in the stock exchanges. (Một thương mại gia buôn bán công khố phiếu nếu chọn đúng chỗ để đầu tư thì sẽ trở nên giàu có rất nhanh.)
# By wisely choosing a good professional degree, a student can easily find a good job with high pay and a lot of benefits for his future. (Một sinh viên khôn ngoan chọn đúng ngành học, ra trường đúng thời, dễ kiếm được việc, với lương cao và có nhiều quyền lợi.)
# If you make wise decisions in buying the right insurance at the right time (flood), to purchase lands, or to save for retirement, you would achieve a good life for many years to come. (Nếu quí vị khôn ngoan chọn mua đúng loại bảo hiểm, đất đai, hay đầu tư để dành đúng cho các ngân quỹ về hưu, thì quí vị sẽ hưởng những phước lợi lâu dài.)
> Wisdom is something important that we all need to obtain a good and meaningful life. (Sự khôn ngoan là điều rất quan trọng mà ai trong c/ta cũng cần, để có thể gặt hái một đời sống tốt lành và phước hạnh.)
II. Source of All Wisdom
> Where does wisdom come from? (Sự khôn ngoan đến từ đâu?)
# From exercising the knowledge you gain through education or textbooks, experiences in certain fields, or receiving counsels from the experts or professionals. (Đến từ sự hiểu biết cao qua học vấn, hay kinh nghiệm bản thân trong nghề nghiệp lâu năm, hay đến từ những người cố vấn chuyên môn.)
> But we need to recognize that wisdom of this world can be limited… because the future is so uncertain. (Nhưng c/ta phải ý thức rằng mọi sự khôn ngoan ở đời này đều có giới hạn, vì tương lai mù mịt; c/ta không ai biết rõ chuyện gì sẽ xảy ra.)
> You can make all wise decisions today, but if your life ends shortly tomorrow… then what is the use of them for eternity? (Qúi vị có những sự chọn lựa hay, nhưng nếu cuộc sống mình bị rút ngắn bởi một căn bệnh hay tại nạn thì những điều khôn đó có ích lợi gì cho c/ta trong cõi đời đời không?)
# The parable story about a wise broker (stock dealers) asking God to give him a gift of seeing the future… by sending him each day a newspaper that showed current events already happened ahead for a month (Có một tờ báo mỗi ngày trước một tháng). He got his wish - the newspaper one month ahead… every day.
> He could see the future market of stocks (thị trường công khố phiếu trước một tháng), invested in the highest paid-out stocks (có lợi tức cao), and made a lot of money in no time.
> He was so happy and content… until one day he received a newspaper and ready to made stock deals (mua bán) for that day, and he saw his name was in the obituary section (mục chia buồn) among some of the dead due to a car accident that he will be involved (gặp phải) in next month.
> True value of wisdom should not just be good knowledge for making decisions today, but to walk in the right paths that produce a happy and content life for a long time. (Sự khôn ngoan thật không chỉ có gía trị tạm thời mà thôi, nhưng phải đem đến cho c/ta sự vui mừng, bình an và thỏa lòng lâu dài.)
> So where can I find this kind of wisdom? (Như vậy làm sao tìm được sự khôn ngoan?)
> The true wisdom comes from the eternal God “I AM” - Who created the world from the beginning and sets eternity. (Sự khôn ngoan nhất đến từ “Trên Cao,” Đấng quyền năng biết mọi sự, kể cả đã định đoán tương lai đời đời.)
> Not just setting the eternity, in His wisdom, God already has a good plan for each of us… as said in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Không phải đã định tương lai đời đời mà thôi, nhưng Chúa còn có chương trình tốt lành cho mỗi con cái của Ngài, như có chép trong Giêrêmi 29:11 mà chính Chúa đã phán: "Vì chính Ta biết rõ chương trình Ta hoạch định cho các ngươi. Ta có chương trình bình an thịnh vượng cho các ngươi, chứ không phải tai họa. Ta sẽ ban cho các ngươi một tương lai đầy hy vọng.”)
> The purpose of God’s wisdom is to set us on the right paths that lead to the eternal blessing. (Sự khôn ngoan của Chúa ban cho là để đặt trước mặt c/ta những con đường… dẫn đến sự tốt lành/phước hạnh đời đời.)
> So to gain God’s wisdom, we must seek Him… to have a good and meaningful life. (Cho nên c/ta cần tìm kiếm sự khôn ngoan thật bằng cách tìm kiếm Chúa để có một đời sống thật có ý nghĩa.)
III. Hear God
> How can one gain God’s wisdom? (Làm sao một người nhận được sự khôn ngoan từ Chúa?)
> There are 2 basic steps: 1) we should learn to hear God, and 2) to obey His instructions. (Có 2 bước căn bản: 1) Phải tập biết lắng nghe tiếng Chúa, và 2) Vâng giữ làm theo những mạng lệnh Chúa đã phán cùng mình.)
1) We can hear God because we are His children through Christ Jesus. (C/ta có thể nghe được tiếng Chúa vì c/ta là con cái của Ngài.)
# John 1:12 – “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (Giăng 1:12 – “Nhưng hễ ai đã nhận Ngài, thì Ngài ban cho quyền phép trở nên con cái Đức Chúa Trời, là ban cho những kẻ tin danh Ngài.”)
> If you believe in Jesus, you are a child of God… then you have the ability to hear God. (Nếu bạn đã tin nhận Cứu Chúa Giê-xu… thì bạn có khả năng để nghe được tiếng Chúa.)
2) But sometimes, we cannot hear God’s voice… because we have not isolated ourselves from the noises of this world. (Nhưng đôi khi c/ta không thể nghe được tiếng Chúa… là vì c/ta chưa tách ra khỏi những tiếng động của thế giới hỗn độn này.)
> There are so many noises in this world that can distract us from hearing God. (Có quá nhiều những tiếng động trong thế giới này đang làm c/ta bị lo ra, bị rè… mà không chú tâm nghe tiếng Chúa phán cùng mình.)
a) First, the noise of busy-ness that robs us from having no time to hear God. (Tiếng động của sự bận rộn hằng ngày trong công ăn việc làm… mà c/ta không còn thì giờ để lắng nghe tiếng Chúa.)
# The parable of the great banquet in Luke 14 described some of the excuses people used to reject the invitation? (Ẩn dụ trong Luca 14, Chúa Giê-xu nêu ra vài thí dụ a của những người bào chữa không muốn nghe và nhận lời mời của chủ tiệc.)
# “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ 19 “Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ 20 “Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.” (“Khi đến giờ ăn, sai đầy tớ mình đi nói với những kẻ được mời rằng: Hãy đến, mọi sự đã sẵn rồi. 18 Song họ đồng tình xin kiếu hết. Người thứ nhất nói rằng: Tôi có mua một đám ruộng, cần phải đi coi; xin cho tôi kiếu. 19 Kẻ khác rằng: Tôi có mua năm cặp bò, phải đi xem thử; xin cho tôi kiếu. 20 Kẻ khác nữa rằng: Tôi mới cưới vợ, vậy tôi đi không được.”)
> Busy-ness is the no. 1 tactic that the devil uses today to distract so many people to hear God. (Đây là một trong những mưu kế hữu hiệu nhất ma quỉ đang xử dụng để làm nhiều người bị lo ra… không nghe được tiếng Chúa.)
b) Secondly, the noise of wordly pleasures that we enjoy so much that we cannot stop to listen to God. (Tiếng động thứ hai cản trở nhiều người nghe được tiếng Chúa là vì những thú vui chơi trên trần gian này.)
# A football game including tail gate parties can take a whole day from early in the morning to late into the night. People are so exhausted that they cannot wake up on Sunday morning to go worshipping God and hear His voice. (Vui chơi xem những trận đấu banh football từ sáng sớm đến khuya, thì làm sao đến buổi sáng Chúa Nhật còn sức nữa để đến nhà thờ nghe tiếng Chúa phán dạy.)
3) So to hear God, we must learn to be still to hear God speaks. (Muốn nghe tiếng Chúa, c/ta phải tập yên lặng và chờ đời để nghe tiếng Chúa phán.)
# A tourist visited a farm and unfortunalety lost his expensive watch.
> Everyone is busy (lăng xăng) to run about trying to help, until a boy said: “Why don’t we all just be quiet to hear the tic-tac of the watch and know where it is?”
> It works and they were able to find the watch quickly.
# Psalm 46:10 – God said - “Be still, and know that I am God…” (Thi Thiên 46:10 có chép – “Hãy yên lặng và biết rằng ta là Đức Chúa Trời…”)
> Waiting could be a very difficult thing to do since this world is more and more gear to “instant and quick services.” (Điều này thật khó làm vì bản năng tự nhiên của con người là không ai thích chờ đợi, cái gì cũng phải có ngay lập tức, từ thức ăn lẹ cho đến sự nhóm lại thờ phượng Chúa.)
# But to hear God, you must be still and wait - Didn’t Moses wait for 40 years alone in the desert… until he could hear God speaking to him at the burning bush? (Muốn nghe tiếng Chúa c/ta phải yên lặng và chờ đợi – không phải ông Môise đã chờ đời Chúa trong đồng vắng 40 năm trước khi nghe tiếng Chúa ở cây bụi gai cháy không tàn, phải không?)
a) The best time to be still to hear God is our daily devotion time? (Lúc c/ta yên lặng để nghe tiếng Chúa hay nhất là thì giờ tĩnh tâm mỗi buổi sáng.)
# And when we read the Bible, how many of you study the Bible each day with an expectation wanting God speaks to you? (Có bao nhiêu người ở đây mỗi khi đọc lời Chúa thầm cầu nguyện mong mỏi Chúa sẽ phán cùng mình?)
> Do we have an attitude of reading the Bible as “So, what do You want me to do today, Lord? Is this the right time that You want me to do, Lord?” (Khi đọc Kinh Thánh, c/ta có thái độ hỏi Chúa – Ngài muốn con làm gì hôm nay và khi nào Chúa muốn con làm?)
> Share my testimony - Most of my sermon topics have come from the quiet devotional times in the morning or driving alone in the car.
# I often ask God to show me what messages I need to study for myself and share with His church and He is faithful to show it to me many many times.
# Sometimes, the message comes from the words of God’s servants that I listen through a Christian radio channel just being alone in the car, stop and take notes.
> Why don’t you try this – instead of listening to worldly music every time you get into your car, just be quiet and think about the Bible lesson you just studied or sermon you have listened to last Sunday and meditate on what God wants you to do?
> Why did Jesus pray? Did He need to? (Tại sao Chúa thường đến chỗ riêng tư một mình và cầu nguyện?)
# Jesus prayed (as in human body) to hear from the Father on what He needed to do, and when He needed to do it. (Chúa cầu nguyện trong thân xác con người để nghe tiếng Chúa Cha muốn mình làm gì và làm khi nào?)
> That was why sometimes Jesus said “My time has not yet fully come,” because He checked with His Father and the Father said “It’s not time yet.” (Vì vậy mà đôi khi Chúa nói cùng các môn đồ mình “Thì giờ Ta chưa trọn, chưa đến lúc,” vì Ngài có hỏi Cha mình và Chúa Cha nói thì giờ chưa tới lúc.)
b) God speaks when His word is preached and taught. (C/ta nghe được tiếng Chúa khi lời của Chúa được giảng dạy ra.)
> God’s word contains the greatest wisdom. (Lời Chúa chứa đầy những điều khôn ngoan nhất.)
# The world is in chaos everywhere; everday we hear on the news about someone gets shot – so where is the wisdom to fix all of these problems? (Thế giới đang sống trong sự hỗn loạn khắp nơi; mỗi ngày c/ta thức dậy, nghe tin tức thì đều thấy có những người bị bắn chết, những tội ác – như vậy sự khôn ngoan ở đâu để giải quyết những nan đề này?)
> The wise solution is from the word of God – the 10 commandments; let’s just say if the 10 commandments be preached and taught to everyone – “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house,” and everyone follows these instructions – would the worldly problems be disappeared and replaced with peace and prosperity? (Sự khôn ngoan ở trong lời Chúa - tỉ dụ như 10 điều răn của Chúa được cổ động, giảng dạy khắp nơi – “Ngươi chớ giết người. Ngươi chớ phạm tội tà dâm. Ngươi chớ trộm cướp. Ngươi chớ nói chứng dối cho kẻ lân cận mình. Ngươi chớ tham nhà kẻ lân cận ngươi,” và mọi người vâng lời làm theo, thì thử hỏi những nan đề có sẽ biến mất và thế vào đó sự bình an và thịnh vượng không?)
> If God’s word is the wisdom when it is preached & taught… then we should “not give up meeting together (on Sunday to study the Bible and worship), as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Nếu như vậy thì c/ta “chớ bỏ sự nhóm lại (học Kinh Thánh thờ phượng mỗi Chúa Nhật) như mấy kẻ quen làm, nhưng phải khuyên bảo nhau, và hễ anh em thấy ngày ấy hầu gần chừng nào, thì càng phải làm như vậy chừng nấy.”)
# How many of us have an attitude that before you come into the worship service, you already pray silently that: “Father! I want to hear your voice today. Please speak to me at this worship service. And may Your Holy Spirit help me to carry out Your will according to Your timing,” or we just come here as a routine and religious thing we have to do every Sunday? (Bao nhiêu người trong c/ta mỗi lần trước khi vào nhóm đã cầu nguyện thầm: “Cha ơi! Con muốn được nghe tiếng Cha hôm nay. Xin Cha phán dạy con. Xin Thánh Linh Ngài giúp con có thể vâng trọn ý Cha theo đúng lúc Ngài muốn?)
c) God also speaks through circumstances in life. (Chúa phán qua những hoàn cảnh xảy ra xung quanh c/ta.)
> Few weeks ago, through the historic flood circumstance, I believe that God has spoken to each of us in many different ways through the generosity and love of God’s people, the temporary value of the material things, our weakness, the imperfect condition of this world, the hope of the kingdom of God… (Qua trận lụt lớn vừa xảy ra, tôi tin rằng Chúa đã phán cùng mỗi c/ta qua nhiều cách: Cảm thông được sự rộng lượng giúp đỡ của những ân nhân, gía trị tạm thời của vật chất, sự yếu đuối của con người, tình trạng không vẹn toàn của thế giới này, và sự trông cậy của nước thiên đàng…)
# Don’t complain, but just pray: “I want to hear from You, Lord. Please teach me what is your will for my life through these difficult times?” (Đừng phàn nàn, nhưng chỉ hãy cầu xin Chúa cho mình nghe biết được ý Chúa qua những lúc khó khăn này.)
> If we come to church and we do not hear anything from God then it’s kind of wasteful? (Nếu c/ta đến đây nhóm mà chẳng nghe Chúa phán gì cho mình thì có lẽ luống công chăng?)
IV. Obey God’s Instructions
> Hearing God is not enough to achieve a good and successful life, but we must obey His instructions. (Nghe biết tiếng Chúa chưa đủ để có một đời sống thành công và phước hạnh, c/ta phải vâng lời làm theo những sự chỉ dẫn của Ngài.)
> The aim of our Christian life can be focused on few simple words: Hear God and obey. (Mục tiêu của người cơ dốc rất đơn giản: Nghe tiếng Chúa và vâng lời làm theo.)
# Sometimes we cannot hear God because He knows we are not ready to obey. (Có nhiều khi c/ta chưa nghe được tiếng Chúa, vì c/ta chưa sẵn sàng vâng lời Ngài.)
> Sometimes God does not reveal to us His new instructions today, because we haven’t done what we already received yesterday. (Có khi Chúa không khải thỉ ý của Ngài cho c/ta biết ngày hôm nay, là vì c/ta chưa chịu làm những điều Chúa đã phán cùng c/ta ngày hôm qua.)
> Do you know why king David was “a man after God’s own heart” as said in Acts 13:23 – “After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” (Quí vị có biết tại sao Đavít là người làm Chúa rất hài lòng không, như có chép trong Công Vụ 13 – “Ngài (Chúa) loại Sau-lơ và đặt Đa-vít lên ngôi, là người được Ngài chứng nhận: "Ta đã tìm thấy Đa-vít, con Gie-sê, người mà Ta hài lòng, Người sẽ thực hiện tất cả ý định của Ta.”)
> David was “a man after God’s own heart” because of Gods’ mercy and because David often sought to hear from God and to do His will with all of his heart. He wanted God to control his life in every things. (Đavít sống hài lòng Chúa vì sự nhơn từ của Ngài, và vì Đavít luôn cầu vấn Chúa để biết rõ ý Ngài mà làm theo.)
# In 1 Chronicles 14:8-16 as an example to note – “When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. 9 Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; 10 so David inquired of God: “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, I will deliver them into your hands.” 11 So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand.” So that place was called Baal Perazim... / 13 Once more the Philistines raided the valley; 14 so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, “Do not go directly after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. 15 As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” 16 So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.” (Khi dân Phi-li-tin hay rằng Đa-vít đã được xức dầu làm vua trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì hết thảy người Phi-li-tin đều đi lên đặng tìm người; Đa-vít hay đều đó, bèn đi ra đón chúng nó. 9 Vả dân Phi-li-tin đã loán đến, tràn ra trong trũng Rê-pha-im. 10 Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời rằng: Tôi phải đi lên đánh dân Phi-li-tin chăng? Chúa sẽ phó chúng nó vào tay tôi chăng? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp lời cùng người rằng: Hãy đi lên, ta sẽ phó chúng nó vào tay ngươi. 11 Người Phi-li-tin kéo lên Ba-anh-Phê-rát-sim, rồi tại đó Đa-vít đánh chúng nó; đoạn, Đa-vít nói rằng: Đức Chúa Trời có dùng tay ta đã đánh phá các thù nghịch ta, như nước phá vỡ vậy; bởi cớ ấy người ta gọi chỗ đó là Ba-anh-Phê-rát-sim. / 13 Người Phi-li-tin lại bủa khắp trong trũng. 14 Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời nữa; Đức Chúa Trời đáp với người rằng: Ngươi chớ đi lên theo chúng nó; hãy đi vòng chúng nó, rồi đến hãm đánh chúng nó tại nơi đối ngang cây dâu. 15 Vừa khi ngươi nghe tiếng bước đi trên ngọn cây dâu, bấy giờ ngươi sẽ kéo ra trận; vì Đức Chúa Trời ra trước ngươi đặng hãm đánh đạo quân Phi-li-tin. 16 Đa-vít làm y như lời Đức Chúa Trời đã phán dặn; họ đánh đuổi đạo quân Phi-li-tin từ Ga-ba-ôn cho đến Ghê-xe. 17 Danh của Đa-vít đồn ra trong khắp các nước; Đức Giê-hô-va khiến cho các dân tộc đều kính sợ Đa-vít.)
> You want to be successful? Practice a habit of inquiring of God in everything, and obey His instructions. (Bạn có muốn sống thành công không? Hãy tập thói quen cầu vấn Chúa luôn trong mọi việc… và sẵn sàng vâng phục làm theo y như lời của Ngài.)
> The key point here is not just about being successful in life, but living a life pleasing God with the help of His wisdom. (Điểm chính ở đây không phải là được thành công trong cuộc đời, nhưng là sống làm hài lòng Chúa, bởi sự hướng dẫn của sự khôn ngoan của Ngài.)
# How many things we do today that we first inquire of God: “Lord! I won’t buy that until I can hear from you clearly; I won’t marry that person until you speak to me Lord because I want to please You. I won’t choose that professional career until I can hear from You because I only want to do Your will.” (Có bao nhiều quyết định trong cuộc sống của c/ta mà trước khi quyết định bạn đã thầm cầu nguyện: “Xin Chúa cho con được nghe biết ý Ngài trong việc mua sắm này; Con sẽ không lập gia đình với người đó hay chọn học ngành đó cho đến khi con nghe được tiếng Chúa phán cùng con?”)
# Or we tend to make our own decision, if it goes well – we say “I did it;” if it goes sour, we blame God – “Why me?” (Thường thì c/ta tự ý làm trước cái đã; nếu tốt thì khoe là “mình khôn,” còn nếu thất bại thì phàn nàn với Chúa là tại sao Ngài lại để mình bị khổ như vậy?)
> We need to always pray for our church leaders to have God’s wisdom. (C/ta cần cầu nguyện cho những người lãnh đạo Hội Thánh luôn có sự khôn ngoan của Chúa trong mọi quyết định.)
> Since the historic flood happened, I am non-stop praying for our church leaders, especially the property committee, because of so many decisions they have to make from rebuilding the church to helping our affected families. (Từ lúc trận lụt lớn xảy ra, mỗi ngày tôi không quyên cầu nguyện Chúa cho những lãnh đạo luôn có sự khôn ngoaon của Chúa, nhất là ban địa ốc, vì họ có biết bao những quyết định từ sự sửa chữa nhà thờ cho đến việc giúp đỡ những gia đình gặp khó khăn.)
V. God’s Generosity – Just Ask
> In v. 5b - The greatest thing about wisdom is that God gives it freely, because He is generous. (Trong c. 5b, c/ta thấy Chúa là Đấng rộng lượng, Ngài không có hà tiện như c/ta, Ngài hứa ban cho sự khôn ngoan một cách không điều kiện.)
> His wisdom is never run out; You can ask as much as you want, many times as you wish – “All you can eat!” (Sự khôn ngoan của Ngài không hề “cạn,” bạn có thể xin Ngài bất cứ lúc nào và bao nhiêu lần cũng được.)
> God gives wisdom without finding any fault, He would not count your sins and reject you. (Chúa sẵn ban cho mà không phiền trách, không bắt chẹt, không moi móc những qua khứ, không làm chúng ta bị xấu hổ, và từ chối c/ta.)
> In v. 5a – The only thing we need is to believe in God and to agree that we are lack of wisdom. (Trong c. 5a – Chỉ có điều là mình có dám tin lời hứa của Chúa và nhận thức mình là kẻ thiếu kém sự khôn ngoan mà cầu xin Ngài.)

> Just humble yourself and say to God – “I lack of wisdom, I humbly ask you to give me Your wisdom as You have promised to give it freely. Amen!” (Chỉ hãy hạ mình, nhận biết mình kém khôn ngoan mà cầu xin Chúa.)
> Even God promises to give wisdom freely, but humility is “the door” you must be willing to bend yourself down to open it… because the door knob is low. (Mặc dầu Chúa hứa ban cho sự khôn ngoan một cách rộng lượng, nhưng c/ta phải hạ mình, cong người xuống mà nhận là vì ổ nắm của cách cửa khôn ngoan ở rất dưới thấp.)
VI. For His Glory
> And when you become successful, and prosperous - do not forget God Who is the One gave you His wisdom. (Và khi c/ta được thành công, đừng bao giờ quên Chúa là Đấng đã ban cho mình sự khôn ngoan.)

a) When we forget to give thanks and praises to God. (C/ta quên dâng lời cảm tạ và ngợi khen Chúa.)
b) When we neglect worship with sacrifices. (C/ta bắt đầu bỏ bê sự nhóm lại.)
c) When we start making plans without taking God into consideration. (C/ta xếp đặt chương trình hoặc định của mình mà không muốn Chúa dự phần.)
d) When we neglect His commandments. (C/ta xem thường những điều răn, mạng lệnh của Ngài.)
e) When we ignore our commitments. (C/ta bỏ đi những lời cam kết mình đã hứa với Chúa.)
f) When we make friends with the world. (Khi c/ta làm bạn với thế gian và đẩy Chúa ra khỏi đời sống mình.)
> Don’t you know the secret of being blessed, prosperous and successful all the times is in the attitude of gratitude always to the Blesser. (Quí vị có biết bí quyết để có một đời sống phước hạnh, thành công luôn là gì không? Là thái độ luôn biết ơn Đấng đã hằng chúc mọi phước lành cho mình mỗi ngày.)
> The journey of a Christian is a personal relationship with God, knowing Him, having His wisdom to do His will, enjoy the blessings and express the gratitude through praises and worship. That’s a life worthy to live – a good life. (Hành trình của đời sống người cơ đốc là mối liên hệ cá nhân với Chúa, thông biết Ngài, có sự khôn ngoan của Chúa để sống trong ý Ngài, hưởng những phước lành và sống biết ơn Chúa qua sự thờ phượng và ca ngợi. Đó chính là một đời sống phước hạnh, thỏa lòng – đáng sống!)

> God is good… and He wants all of His children to live a good life.
> The Bible said He has a good plan for each of us into eternity through Jesus Christ.
> At the same time, living in this fallen world, the devil always wants to trick and to trap us in making bad decisions, so that we cannot enjoy God’s good plan for our life.
> That’s why God promises to give us His wisdom freely.
> God’s wisdom is in His word – through His word, God speaks His wisom to us.
> That’s not the problem, but do you pay attention to hear Him?
> We have allowed the world controlling us with so much busyness and many pleasures that we cannot hear God.
> Not just hearing, but we must be ready to obey His instructions.
> We need to develop a practice to inquire of God first in everything we plan to do before we do it.

# How many of us have inquired of God to speak to you before you enter into the worship service this morning?
> We don’t ask God – that’s why we make so many decisions according to our flesh and the results are not good.
> Just be humble and inquire of God in everything – He wants to bless you.

> But the first thing you need is to have faith in God, meaning to believe what God said is true.
# God said that He loves you and doesn’t want you to perish but to have the eternal life, so God sacrfices His Son Jesus on the cross to die for your sins, and God said if you believe in Jesus, you will have the eternal life with Him in heaven one day.
> Do you believe that and are willing to obey by accepting Jesus as your Lord & Savior today?
> God does not just bless you in this world with His wisdom, but He wants to bless you eternal in His kingdom of heaven.
> All you need is to be humble, accepting that you are a sinner, cannot do anything to save yourself and just invite Jesus in your heart to be your Lord & Savior.
> Everyone who was born will die; the greatest wisdom of God is to allow His only Son to die… so you and I can live eternally.
Seeking Wisdom
(James 1:5-6)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
It’s very natural for every one of us lives in this world wanting to have a good life, being prosperous, happy and successful. To achieve these goals, it depends on how wise you make all your decisions in life. Wisdom is something important that we all need to obtain a good and meaningful life. Where does wisdom come from? From exercising the knowledge you gain through education or textbooks, experiences in certain fields, or receiving counsels from the experts or professionals. But we need to recognize that wisdom of this world can be limited… because the future is so uncertain. You can make all wise decisions today, but if your life ends shortly tomorrow… then what is the use of them for eternity? True value of wisdom should not just be good knowledge for making decisions today, but to gain the right paths that produce a happy & content life for a long time. So where can I find this kind of wisdom? The true wisdom comes from the eternal God “I AM” - Who created the world from the beginning and sets eternity. Not just setting the eternity, in His wisdom, God already has a good plan for each of us… as said in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The purpose of God’s wisdom is to set us on the right paths that lead to the eternal blessing. So to gain God’s wisdom, we must seek Him… to have a good and meaningful life.
How can one gain God’s wisdom? There are two basic steps: 1) we should learn to hear God, and 2) to obey His instructions. We can hear God because we are His children through Christ Jesus. If you believe in Jesus, you are a child of God… then you have the ability to hear God. ) But sometimes, we cannot hear God’s voice… because we have not isolated ourselves from the noises of this world. a) The noise of busy-ness that robs us from having no time to hear God. b) The noise of worldly pleasures that we enjoy so much that we cannot stop to listen to God. So to hear God, we must learn to be still to hear God speaks. Psalm 46:10 – God said - “Be still, and know that I am God…” Waiting could be a very difficult thing to do since this world is more and more gear to “instant and quick services.” The best time to be still to hear God is our daily devotion time. And when we read the Bible, how many of you study the Bible each day with an expectation wanting God speaks to you? God speaks when His word is preached and taught. God’s word contains the greatest wisdom. The world is in chaos everywhere; every day we hear on the news about someone gets shot – so where is the wisdom to fix all of these problems? The wise solution is from the word of God – the 10 commandments. Let’s just say if the 10 commandments be preached and taught to everyone – “You shall not murder. “You shall not commit adultery. “You shall not steal. “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house,” and everyone follows these instructions – would the worldly problems be disappeared and replaced with peace and prosperity? If God’s word is the wisdom when it is preached & taught… then we should “not give up meeting together (on Sunday to study the Bible and worship), as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” God also speaks through circumstances in life. Few weeks ago, through the historic flood circumstance, I believe that God has spoken to each of us in many different ways – the generosity and love of God’s people, the temporary value of the material things, our weakness, the imperfect condition of this world, the hope of the kingdom of God… Don’t complain, but just pray: “I want to hear from You, Lord. Please teach me your will for my life through these difficult times.”
Hearing God is not enough to achieve a good and successful life, but we must obey His instructions. The aim of our Christian life can be focused on few simple words: Hear God and obey. Sometimes we cannot hear God because He knows we are not ready to obey. Sometimes God does not reveal to us His new instructions today, because we haven’t done what we already received yesterday. Do you know why King David was “a man after God’s own heart” as said in Acts 13:23 – “After removing Saul, he made David their king? God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” David was “a man after God’s own heart” because of Gods’ mercy and because David often sought to hear from God and to do His will with all of his heart. He wanted God to control his life in every thing. You want to be successful? Practice a habit of inquiring of God in everything, and obey His instructions. The key point here is not just about being successful in life, but living a life pleasing God with the help of His wisdom. We need to always pray for our church leaders to have God’s wisdom. Since the historic flood happened, I am non-stop praying for our church leaders, especially the property committee, because of so many decisions they have to make from rebuilding the church to helping our affected families.
The greatest thing about wisdom is that God gives it freely, because He is generous. His wisdom is never run out; you can ask as much as you want, many times as you wish – “All you can eat!” God gives wisdom without finding any fault; He would not count your sins and reject you. The only thing we need is to believe in God and to agree that we are lack of wisdom. Sometimes, we don’t get wisdom because of our prideful that we don’t accept that our wisdom is limited.
