(Peace on Earth)

Luca 2:4-14

 

[Many people celebrate Christmas… without understanding its true meaning.

Christmas is simply the birthday of the Savior Jesus Christ, and not about Santa Claus.

Jesus’ birthday is recorded in the Bible.

This morning we will listen to this amazing birth event of the Savior Jesus in the Gospel of Luke, then I will share with you a message… on the reason why Jesus was born.]

 

 

“Lúc ấy, Sê-sa Au-gút-tơ ra chiếu chỉ phải lập sổ dân trong cả thiên hạ. 2 Việc lập sổ dân nầy là trước hết, và nhằm khi Qui-ri-ni-u làm quan tổng đốc xứ Sy-ri. 3 Ai nấy đều đến thành mình khai tên vào sổ. 4 Vì Giô-sép là dòng dõi nhà Đa-vít, cho nên cũng từ thành Na-xa-rét, xứ Ga- li-lê, lên thành Đa-vít, gọi là Bết-lê-hem, xứ Giu-đê, 5 để khai vào sổ tên mình và tên Ma-ri, là người đã hứa gả cho mình đang có thai. 6 Đang khi hai người ở nơi đó, thì ngày sanh đẻ của Ma-ri đã đến. 7 Người sanh con trai đầu lòng, lấy khăn bọc con mình, đặt nằm trong máng cỏ, vì nhà quán không có đủ chỗ ở. 8 Vả, cũng trong miền đó, có mấy kẻ chăn chiên trú ngoài đồng, thức đêm canh giữ bầy chiên. 9 Một thiên sứ của Chúa đến gần họ, và sự vinh hiển của Chúa chói lòa xung quanh, họ rất sợ hãi. 10 Thiên sứ bèn phán rằng: Đừng sợ chi; vì nầy, ta báo cho các ngươi một Tin Lành, sẽ làm một sự vui mừng lớn cho muôn dân; 11 ấy là hôm nay tại thành Đa-vít đã sanh cho các ngươi một Đấng Cứu thế, là Christ, là Chúa. 12 Nầy là dấu cho các ngươi nhìn nhận Ngài: Các ngươi sẽ gặp một con trẻ bọc bằng khăn, nằm trong máng cỏ. 13 Bỗng chúc có muôn vàn thiên binh với thiên sứ đó ngợi khen Đức Chúa Trời rằng: 14 Sáng danh Chúa trên các từng trời rất cao, Bình an dưới đất, ân trạch cho loài người!”

(So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”.)

 

 

I. Seek Peace

 

> What is your dreamed Christmas present… that you have been anxiously waiting for… until this morning? (Món quà mà các bạn đang mơ tưởng hồi hộp chờ đợi cho Giáng Sinh năm nay là gì?)

# During this Christmas season, there are countless car sale advertisements on TV from Lexus to Honda companies… that are inviting people to buy gifts for each other. (Rất nhiều hãng bán xe hơi, như là Lexus và Honda đang lợi dụng quảng cáo mời mọc nhiều người hãy mua xe mới tặng quà Giáng Sinh cho nhau.)

# If you are not being content yet, then add to that a diamond ring, pricing from 1,700 to 26,000$. (Nếu bạn chưa thỏa lòng thì cộng thêm vào đó một hột xoàn, gía từ 1,700 cho đến 26,000$ để tặng cho nhau?)

> But we all know that these things will not last forever; even if they do, you will not. (Cho dù c/ta có nhận được những món quà đắt tiền này đi nữa, ai trong c/ta cũng biết mọi thứ ở trên đời này rồi cũng sẽ trôi qua, trở nên cũ kỹ hay lỗi thời; Cho dù những thứ này không hư hại đi nữa thì chắc chắn bạn cũng sẽ không sống mãi để mà hưởng.)

 

> A present that you and I must seek for Christmas… must be a present that has an eternal value; and whever you go, it goes with you. (Bạn phải tìm một món quà Giáng Sinh nào có gía trị trường tồn; bạn đi đâu, nó sẽ luôn ở với bạn mãi.)

> That eternal present… is PEACE. (Món quà Giáng Sinh quí gía đó chính là sự bình an.)

> In fact, that is the reason of the Christmas season, when Jesus came and gave peace on earth. (Đó chính là ý nghĩa của Giáng Sinh, khi Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu vào đời, đem sự bình an đến cho nhân loại.)

> We read the Christmas story – when Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago, a host of angels sung their song, bringing the message of peace to the world – “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” (C/ta đọc câu chuyện Chúa Giê-xu Giáng Sinh, sanh ra hơn 2,000 năm trước đây thì có muôn vàn thiên sứ đến tôn vinh bài hát đem hòa bình đến cho nhân thế - “Sáng danh Chúa trên các từng trời rất cao, Bình an dưới đất, ân trạch cho loài người!”)

 

 

II. Consequences of No Peace

 

> First, it is NOT easy to find peace in this world. (Sự bình an không dễ tìm kiếm được ở trên đời này.)

 

1) Today, look around you and read the daily news, there are chaos, corruptions, wars and rumors of wars everywhere. (Ngày hôm nay, bạn đọc tin tức hằng ngày thì thấy chiến tranh và những ngòi nổ chậm của nó đang xẩy ra khắp nơi trên thế giới.)

# Wars in the Middle East by the ISIS group, persecuting Christians with the policy of chopping the heads of all who do not submit to Islam. (Chiến tranh xâm lăng bạo tàn của nhóm ISIS (nhóm hồi giáo cực đoan) trong chiến dịch “chém đầu” những người không chịu bắt phục theo đạo Hồi ở bên nước Iraq, và Syria.)

# Russia already involves in the wars of Syria. (Liên sô đang liên hệ đến chiến tranh trong nước Syria.)

# The constant conflict between North and South Korea. (Xung đột liên tục giữa Bắc Hàn muốn tẩy chay Nam hàn, đe dọa bằng vũ khí nguyên tử.)

 

2) Even in the most prosperous and safe country liked US, there are daily shooting and murdering. (Kể cả tại nước Hoakỳ ngày nay, những tội ác xảy ra và tăng lên nhiều hơn mỗi ngày.)

a) Last week, an NFL player named Joe McKnight got shot in Terrytown, Louisiana just because of an argument at a traffic light. (Tuần trước đây một lực sĩ thể thao nổi tiếng tên là Joe McKnight bị bắn chết tại chỗ ở Terrytown, LA cũng chỉ vì cãi cọ với một người khác tại một đèn xanh đỏ mà thôi.)

 

b) After 911, America finds a new enemy, called homegrown Islamist terrorism that constantly cause fears of bomb attacks; Now, they use big trucks as weapons to run over and kill people. (Sau biến cố 9-11, nước Mỹ đối diện với một kẻ thù mới, đó là những kẻ khủng bố bỏ bom của bọn hồi giáo cực đoan, sanh trưởng lớn lên ngay tại trong nước; Nay họ xử dụng những chiếc xe truck lớn như là vũ khí, cán chết nhiều người.) 

 

c) Bitter conflicts between Democrats and Republicans parties, making many people worry about the future of this country. (Ngay chính trong nội bộ của nước Mỹ, cũng đang có những sự xung đột/tranh chấp dữ tợn giữa đảng Cộng Hòa và Dân Chủ, làm nhiều người lo lắng cho tương lai của nước Mỹ.)

 

d) Racism issues of white policemen shot black people incidents just cause divisions in our country. (Những vụ xung đột kỳ thị chủng tộc của cảnh sát da trắng bắn người da đen, gây ra nhiều cuộc nổi loạn ở nhiều nơi trong nước Mỹ và đang gây sự chia rẽ trong nước.)

 

e) Conflits between US and Russia on computer hacking wars. (Chiến tranh lạnh giữa Nga Sô và nước Hoakỳ trong vấn đề len lỏi xâm phạm và phá hoại qua hệ thống điện toán.)

 

f) Conflicts between US and China on the trading wars. (Sự tranh chấp giữa Hoakỳ và Trung Hoa trong trận chiến buôn bán, thương mại các sản phẩm.)

 

g) Not to mention many broken homes, even among our Vietnamese society. (Biết bao nhiêu gia đình đang ở trong tình trạng “trong héo ngoài tươi,” đang có những sự xung đột, nhiều đổ vỡ, nước mắt và chia tay.)

 

# A survey shows that for the last 4,000 years, the world only has about 300 years of peace. (Có người đã làm một thống kê và cho biết trong vòng 4,000 năm qua, thế giới chỉ thật sự có hòa bình là khoãng 300 năm mà thôi.)

 

3) Even if you are wealthy… you may not have real peace. (Kể cả khi con người sống sung sướng, đầy đủ, giàu có, trong nhung lụa, nhưng chưa chắc có sự bình an của tâm hồn.)

 

a) Many rich people who won lottery live comfortably, but constantly worry about losing their possesions, because of thieves are everywhere, waiting to steal their stuffs. (Những người giàu sang, trúng số độc đắc đi nữa, họ đang sống sung sướng, nhưng cũng lo lắng nhiều, vì có biết bao nhiêu những kẻ trộm đang ở xung quanh rình mò để cướp lấy tài sản tiền bạc của mình.)

 

b) Many famous people appear to be happy, but constantly worry about someone will get ahead of them. (Biết bao nhiêu người nổi tiếng đang sống có vẻ sung sướng, nhưng lúc nào cũng lo sợ không biết có ai đó sẽ nổi lên và trổi hơn mình không?)

 

c) Many powerful people live pridefully, but constantly worry about the future, because they all know their life will end one day, and could happen unexpectedly. (Những người có nhiều quyền chức đang sống oai nghi, nhưng biết rõ trong lòng là một ngày quyền thế mình sẽ bị chấm dứt, khi hơi thở này của mình ngừng lại.)

 

 

III. Three Kinds of Peace

 

> Why can’t we have peace? (Tại sao c/ta khó kiếm được sự bình an thật?)

 

> First, we need to understand that there are 3 kinds of peaces: 1) Peace among men, 2) inner Peace, and 3) Peace given from above. (Điều đầu tiên để có sự bình an, c/ta phải nhận biết có 3 loại bình an và sự thứ tự của nó: đó là bình an với người (bên ngoài), bình an nội tâm (bên trong), và bình an với Chúa (bên trên).

 

> The reason the world cannot find true peace among each other, because we do not have the inner peace. (Lý do thế giới chưa tìm được sự bình an thật giữa người với nhau, là vì c/ta chưa có sự bình an bên trong, bình an nội tâm của tâm hồn.)

> And the reason we do not yet have the inner peace, because there are still conflicts between men and God; or no peace from Above. (Lý do c/ta chưa có sự bình an nội tâm của tâm hồn là vì mối liên hệ giữa người và Trời chưa được hòa thuận lại.)

> So, to find true peace, a person must first have the peace from Above, that produces an inner peace, and from that you can experience the peace among men with each other. (Như vậy để tìm được sự bình an thật, một người phải trước hết nhận được sự bình an từ bên trên, từ đó sanh ra sự bình an bên trong, và rồi kinh nghiệm được sự bình an bên ngoài với nhau.)

> That’s why we have Christmas, when Jesus, God’s Son came into this world to bring peace from Above between God and men on earth. (Vì đó mà c/ta có Giáng Sinh, là khi Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, Con Đức Chúa Trời giáng thế đem đến sự hòa bình giữa người và Trời.)

 

 

IV. How to Have Peace with God    

 

> You may wonder – so what is the cause… that mankind does not have peace with God? (Có thể bạn đang thắc mắc lý do gì mà đã làm tổn hại mối liên hệ giữa người với Trời?)

# This cause can be summarized in one word only – “Sin.” (Lý do này có thể tóm tắt trong 2 chữ “tội lỗi.”)

> Sin separates us from God and makes us becoming His enemies, breaking the bond of peace between mankind and God. (Tội lỗi đã phân rẽ loài người với Đức Chúa Trời, làm c/ta trở nên nghịch thù cùng Chúa, sống không có sự bình an thật.)

 

1) The Bible said sin begun at the first man and woman, named Adam & Eve. (Kinh Thánh chép tội lỗi bắt đầu từ 2 người đầu tiên, tổ phụ của loài người là Ađam và Êva.)

> They disobeyed God in the beautiful garden of life… by eating the forbidden fruits. (Trong vườn sự sống ngày xưa, họ đã không vâng lời Chúa, đi ăn trái cấm)

> Since that day, the whole mankind became the enemies of God. (Sau khi tổ phụ loài người là Ađam & Êva phạm tội, cả dòng giống con người trở nên loài giống thù nghịch cùng Chúa Thánh Khiết.)

 

2) But “sin” does not stop there, it produces all kinds of evil acts. (Nhưng tội lỗi không ngừng ở đó, tự nó sanh ra mọi tội ác.)

# We see this from the beginning, after Adam & Eve sinned, their children – Cain (older brother) killed Abel (younger brother) because of his jealousy, as recorded in Genesis 4:8. (C/ta thấy rõ điều này, từ lúc ban đầu, khi 2 đứa con trai của Ađam và Êva là Ca-in đi giết em mình là Abên vì lòng ghen tức, như có chép trong Sáng Thế Ký 4:8.)

> Today, many of these evil acts happen in front of our eyes… because the root of sin, because mankind no longer has peace with God. (Ngày nay, những tội ác cứ tiếp tục diễn tiến trước mắt c/ta trong thế giới này, do chính cội rễ của tội lỗi, và vì loài người không có sự hòa bình với Chúa.)

 

3) Worse than that, the terrible consequence of sin is the eternal death. (Còn kinh khủng hơn nữa vì hậu quả của tội lỗi đem đến sự chết đời đời.)

> Mankind will not have peace because their greatest enemy of death always chases after them. (Con người không thể nào tìm được sự bình an, vì c/ta có một kẻ thù dữ nhất, đó là sự chết, lúc nào cũng đeo đuổi ngay sau gót chân mình.)

# A story about death… who sent a warning message to a small village ahead… saying that it will come tomorrow to take away 100 lives. (Câu chuyện của thần chết có lần gởi một tin xấu đến cho một cái làng nhỏ, đó là ngày mai nó sẽ đến và lấy đi mạng sống của 100 người.)

> The next day, there was 1,000 died in the village. (Nhưng sáng hôm sau thì có đến 1,000 người chết trong làng đó.)

> The reason 900 more people died… because some people were frightened after they heard the bad news; they got in a dreadful mode and died… because they didn’t know who death would chase after. (Lý do có thêm 900 mạng chết nữa trong làng, là vì một số người sau khi nghe tin tức, họ quá sợ hãi, vì không biết thần chết sẽ gọi tên ai.)

> The fear of death itself steals away our peace. (Chính nỗi lo sợ của sự chết sẽ đến với mọi người đã cướp lấy đi sự bình an của tâm hồn c/ta.)

 

> One thing for sure, every one of us will die one day; doesn’t matter how intelligent, rich, or healthy we are. (Một điều chắc chắn đó là ai cũng biết - cuộc sống của mỗi c/ta sẽ chấm dứt một ngày; không cần biết bạn và tôi khôn ngoan, giàu có, nổi tiếng hay khỏe mạnh đến mức nào.)

# Watching the daily news, we see famous people, driving luxurious cars, living in expensive homes, eating good food do die as well. (Xem tin tức mỗi ngày, c/ta thấy kể cả những người nổi tiếng, ăn ngon mặc đẹp cũng chết.)

# Statistic shows 1 out of 100,000 people lives pass 100 years old; if the Lord is willing, I still have 43 years more to go, but then that would be the end of my life. (Thống kê cho biết trong vòng 100,000 người sống thì chỉ có một người là sống trên 100 tuổi, nhưng rồi cũng chết; nếu Chúa thương tôi, thì tôi còn 43 năm nữa mà thôi, rồi cũng phải trở về với bụi đất.)

 

4) We all have no peace because the Bible said after death, there comes judgment of the eternal punishment in the lake of fire. (Con người sống không có sự bình an, vì Kinh Thánh chép rõ, sẽ có sự phán xét của hồ lửa địa ngục cháy không ngừng theo sau sự chết.)

# Hebrews 9:27 – “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,” (Hêbêrơ 9:27 chép – “Theo như đã định cho loài người phải chết một lần, rồi chịu phán xét,”)

 

5) But God is gracious and loving, He promised to send a Savior, and God fulfilled His promise, at the right time, a Child was born from a virgin on the first Christmas. (Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng yêu thương, Ngài đã hứa ban cho Đấng Cứu Thế, và đúng thời điểm trong Giáng Sinh đầu tiên, Con Trời đã sanh ra đời y như lời Chúa đã hứa, để cứu loài người ra khỏi sự phán xét của tội lỗi.)

# Galatians 4:4-5 – “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” (Trong Galati 4:4-5 có chép – “Nhưng khi kỳ hạn đã được trọn, Đức Chúa Trời bèn sai Con Ngài bởi một người nữ sanh ra, sanh ra dưới luật pháp, để chuộc những kẻ ở dưới luật pháp, và cho chúng ta được làm con nuôi Ngài.”)

 

6) Through God’s Son, Jesus Christ, we can have peace from Above again, because we are reconciled to God, no longer His enemies, as said in Romans 5:1 – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Qua chính Con Đức Chúa Trời, Cứu Chúa Giê-xu mà c/ta có lại sự bình an từ bên trên, không còn là kẻ thù nghịch với Chúa, nhưng “… được hòa thuận với Đức Chúa Trời, bởi Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ chúng ta,”)

# The Bible said… after Adam & Eve sinned, they hid away from God because they were afraid; but after Jesus was born and when the angels appeared to the shephereds, the first thing they said: “Do not be afraid”… because the Savior was born to bring peace on earth. (Ngày xưa sau khi Ađam và Êva phạm tội thì thấy mình lõa lồ, họ đi trốn trong bụi vì sợ sự thánh khiết của Chúa; nhưng khi Chúa Giê-xu sanh ra đời thì các thiên sứ hiện ra và phán cùng các mục đồng điều gì đầu tiên? “Đừng sợ,” vì Đấng Cứu Thế đã sanh ra đem bình an đến cho nhân loại.)

 

> What does this peace reconciliation mean? (Sự hòa thuận với Đức Chúa Trời nghĩa là sao?)

a) First, all your sins are forgiven, washed away, erased forever, because Jesus took, swapped and paid in full for your sins on the cross almost 2,000 years ago. (Trước hết nghĩa là mọi tội của những kẻ tin được xóa hết, rửa sạch, bởi vì Chúa Giê-xu đã đem trả trên cây thập tự gía rồi.)

 

b) Secondly, you are redeemed, meaning that you are now set free from the judgment and punishment of sin, and you now have the power becoming the children of God; no longer His enemies. (Hòa thuận với ĐCT nghĩa là nay c/ta được trả tự do khỏi sự phán xét của tội lỗi; và nay có được quyền phép biến đổi trở nên làm những con trai, con gái của Đức Chúa Trời, không còn là kẻ thù nghịch với Ngài nữa, không còn bị đòi nợ nữa.)

 

c) Thirdly, you are now waiting for your eternal inheritance – a home in heaven that has been secured and prepared by Jesus Who will return one day to bring us there with Him. (Hòa thuận với Chúa để hưởng cơ nghiệp nước thiên đàng của Ngài một ngày, mà Chúa Giê-xu đã sống lại, đi trước sửa soạn cho c/ta và sẽ trở lại để c/ta được ở trong nước của Đức Chúa Trời đời đời.)

 

7) You cannot find true, inner and eternal peace without the reconciliation with God in Christ Jesus, His Son. (Bạn sẽ không thể kinh nghiệm được sự hòa bình thật cho đến khi chúng ta trước tiên có lại sự hòa thuận với ĐCT, Đấng Tạo Hóa của mình, có sự bình an từ bên trên.)

> You cannot find true peace until you have the “Prince of Peace” Who lives inside you, making peace between you and the holy God, and between you and others. (Bạn không thể nào kinh nhiệm được sự bình an thật cho đến khi nào bạn có Chúa Bình An, Đấng đó ở trong lòng bạn, làm bạn được hòa thuận lại với Đức Chúa Trời thánh khiết, và với mọi người xung quanh mình.)

> So what do you seek this Christmas? (Bạn đang tìm kiếm gì trong mùa Giáng Sinh năm nay?)

# Christmas was the beginning of time… when God, in the Person of Jesus Christ, Who came and  offers peace to the world, making reconciliation between Himself to every one of us. (Giáng Sinh là thời điểm Chúa đã hiện thân thành người… trong hình hài Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu, để ban sự bình an từ bên trên xuống đến nhân loại, bằng cách làm c/ta được hòa thuận lại với Ngài.)

> Do you want a Christmas of peace? (Bạn có muốn kinh nghiệm sự bình an của Giáng Sinh không, giữa những xáo trộn và tranh chấp trong cuộc sống này?)

> Come to the “Prince of Peace,” and invite Jesus into your heart today. (Hãy đến với “Vương Tử của Hòa Bình,” và mời Cứu Chúa Giê-xu vào đời sống của bạn ngay hôm nay.)

 

> If you are willing to trust Jesus, you will experience Christmas peace that surpasses all problems surrounding you? (Nếu bạn bằng lòng tin cậy Chúa Giê-xu, bạn chắc chắn sẽ kinh nghiệm được sự bình an thật và không còn sợ hãi chi nữa?)

> That’s why David, the author of one of the famous Psalm 23:6 said – “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Vì lý do đó mà Đavít ngày xưa, tác gỉa của Thi Thiên 23:6 đã nói – “Dầu khi tôi đi trong trũng bóng chết, Tôi sẽ chẳng sợ tai họa nào; vì Chúa ở cùng tôi; Cây trượng và cây gậy của Chúa an ủi tôi.”)

> You can know God’s peace by knowing Jesus Christ to overcome even the fear of death. (Bạn có thể biết và có sự bình an vượt khỏi nỗi lo sợ của sự chết khi bạn có sự bình an từ bên trên qua chính Cứu Chúa Giê-xu.)

 

> I truly wish all of us will experience a Christmas of Peace from Above this year, because we have been reconciled with God in Christ. (Tôi thành thật mong mọi người c/ta sẽ kinh nghiệm một Giáng Sinh tràn đầy sự bình từ bên trên, vì c/ta đã được hòa thuận lại với Chúa trong Đấng Christ.)

-------------------------- Lời Mời Gọi

> Christmas is probably the most joyful time of the year with music, decorated lights, and giving presents.

> But it can also be be the most stressful time: you fight traffics, worry about buying the right gifts, not missing anyone, where to shop, got frustrated because the presents you want to buy are sold-outs, what to cook, who to invite; in addition to other thousand chores you have to take care at the end of year.

> But don’t forget that Christmas was the beginning of time… when God, in the Person of Jesus Christ, Who came and offers the greatest gift of peace to the world, making reconciliation between Himself to every one of us.

 

# Don’t you know that the world has 97 Nobel peace prizes since 1901 to 2016, but she is still searching for peace – why? (Thế giới đã có 97 lần phát những giải thưởng hòa bình từ năm 1901 đến 2016, nhưng thế giới vẫn chưa có sự hòa bình thật - tại sao?) 

> The reason is because people are seeking peace in the wrong order, and wrong person. (Cũng vì loài người đang tìm kiếm sự hòa bình không đúng thứ tự, và không đúng đối tượng)

> You cannot find true peace without having the inner peace; and you cannot have an inner peace without the gift of peace from Above, with God in Christ Jesus.

> That is why we have Christmas – tat is why the Savior Jesus was born and died to take away our sins, to set us free from the punishment of sins, to give us the power of becoming Gods; children, and to promise us the eternal heaven.

> You must first seek the peace of God from Above… in Jesus Christ.

> This is the Christmas present that we all need today.

 

> Do you have peace?

> Do you want it?

# Just repent your sins, and place your faith in Christ Jesus – the Prince of Peace.

> You cannot have peace without all your sins are forgiven; you cannot have peace without the reconciliation with God trough His Son; you cannot have peace without knowing where you will spend eternity.

> But Jesus was born, died and raised from the death so that you can have all of these blessings.

> Just trust Him this morning.

> Just pray: “Lord Jesus! Please forgive my sins. This morning I now understand what Christmas is all about. It’s your birthday to be born and to die for my sins on the cross. I understand your death  on the cross had made the reconciliation for me and the perfectly holy God. You came to give me the power of beconing God’s children, and to give me hope of the eternal heaven. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for the gift of peace from Above. I today place my faith in You, and commit to follow You, until the day I will enter the heaven and be with You where You are. Amen”

Peace on Earth

What is your dreamed Christmas present… that you have been anxiously waiting for until this morning? May be a new Lexus? If you are not being content yet, then add to that a diamond ring. But we all know that these things will not last forever; even if they do, you will not. A present that you and I must seek for Christmas… must be a present that has an eternal value; and wherever you go, it goes with you. That eternal present is PEACE. In fact, that is the reason of the Christmas season, when Jesus came and gave peace on earth. We read the Christmas story – when Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago, a host of angels sung their song, bringing the message of peace to the world – “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

 

First, it is NOT easy to find peace in this world. Today, look around you and read the daily news, there are chaos, corruptions, wars and rumors of wars everywhere. Wars in the Middle East by the ISIS group, persecuting Christians with the policy of chopping the heads of all who do not submit to Islam. Russia involves in the wars of Syria. The constant conflict between North and South Korea. Even in the most prosperous and safe country liked US, there are daily shooting and murdering. After 911, America finds a new enemy, called homegrown Islamist terrorism that constantly cause fears of bomb attacks; Now, they use big trucks as weapons to run over and kill people. Bitter conflicts between Democrats and Republicans parties, making many people worry about the future of this country. Racism issues of white policemen shot black people incidents just cause divisions in our country. Conflicts between US and Russia on computer hacking wars. Conflicts between US and China on the trading wars. Not to mention many broken homes, even among our Vietnamese society. Why can’t we have peace? First, we need to understand that there are three kinds of peace: 1) Peace among men, 2) inner Peace, and 3) Peace given from Above. The reason the world cannot find true peace among each other, because we do not have the inner peace. And the reason we do not yet have the inner peace, because there are still conflicts between men and God. So, to find true peace, a person must first have the peace from Above, that produces an inner peace, and from that he can experience the peace among men with each other. That’s why we have Christmas, when Jesus, God’s Son came into this world to bring peace from Above between God and men on earth.

 

You may wonder – so what is the cause that mankind does not have peace with God? This cause can be summarized in one word – “Sin.” Sin separates us from God and makes us becoming His enemies, breaking the bond of peace between mankind and God. The Bible said sin begun at the first man and woman, named Adam & Eve. They disobeyed God in the beautiful garden of life by eating the forbidden fruits. Since that day, the whole mankind became the enemies of God. But “sin” does not stop there, it produces all kinds of evil acts. Today, many of these evil acts happen in front of our eyes because the root of sin, and because mankind no longer has peace with God. Worse than that, the terrible consequence of sin is the eternal death. Mankind will not have peace because their greatest enemy of death always chases after them. The fear of death itself steals away our peace. We all have no peace because the Bible said after death, there comes judgment of the eternal punishment in the lake of fire. But God is gracious and loving, He promised to send a Savior, and God fulfilled His promise, at the right time, a Child was born from a virgin on the first Christmas. Through God’s Son, Jesus Christ, we can have peace from Above again, because we are reconciled to God, no longer His enemies, as said in Romans 5:1 – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” What does this peace reconciliation mean? First, all your sins are forgiven, washed away, erased forever, because Jesus took, swapped and paid in full for your sins on the cross almost 2,000 years ago. Secondly, you are redeemed, meaning that you are now set free from the judgment and punishment of sin, and you now have the power becoming the children of God; no longer His enemies. And thirdly, you are now waiting for your eternal inheritance – a home in heaven that has been secured and prepared by Jesus Who will return one day to bring us there with Him. You cannot find true, inner and eternal peace without the reconciliation with God in Christ Jesus, His Son. You cannot find true peace until you have the “Prince of Peace” Who lives inside you, making peace between you and the holy God, and between you and others.

 

So what do you seek this Christmas? Christmas was the beginning of time when God, in the Person of Jesus Christ, Who came and offers peace to the world, making reconciliation between Himself to every one of us. Do you want a Christmas of peace? Come to the “Prince of Peace,” and invite Jesus into your heart today. I truly wish all of us will experience a Christmas of Peace from Above this year, because we have been reconciled with God in Christ Jesus, our Lord!
