1 Côrinhtô 6:19-20
(Walking Temples)
“Anh em há chẳng biết rằng thân thể mình là đền thờ của Đức Thánh Linh đang ngự trong anh em, là Đấng mà anh em đã nhận bởi Đức Chúa Trời, và anh em chẳng phải thuộc về chính mình sao? 20 Vì chưng anh em đã được chuộc bằng giá cao rồi. Vậy, hãy lấy thân thể mình làm sáng danh Đức Chúa Trời.”
(Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.)
I. The Rebuilding of VHBC
> Since last August’s flood, many people have worked so hard to rebuild our church facilities from replacing new floor carpet, the sheetrock walls to installing new doors and equipment. (Từ lúc cơn lụt xảy ra vào tháng 8 năm ngoái, một số anh chị em đã bỏ ra rất nhiều công sức xây dựng lại cơ sở của Hội Thánh, nào là quản lý trong những việc làm thảm mới, sửa tường lại, gắn những cửa mới.)
> We are so blessed to even have available funding to remodel our fellowship room with beautiful ceiling lights. (Hội Thánh c/ta thật được phước vì có đủ tài chánh để sửa sang lại cả phòng thông công với hệ thống đèn đuốc mới mẻ và sáng rực.)
# I don’t know how many times I have walked around the church, and am very thankful for all God’s provisions and workers to rebuild our church buildings looking nicer, and newer. (Tôi đã từng đi qua lại ngắm xem cơ sở mới của Hội Thánh và hết lòng cảm tạ Chúa cho mọi sự cung cấp của Ngài và những nhân công xây dựng lại cơ sở này thật là đep đẽ và khang trang.)
# I often image the time in the Old Testament when king Solomon and God’s people dedicated their first temple to God with exceedingly joy and satisfactory. (Tôi có suy nghĩ đến thời xưa trong thời Cựu Ước, vua Solômôn cùng dân sự Chúa tận hiến đền thờ đầu tiên cho Chúa, chắc là vui mừng và thỏa lòng lắm.)
> But the more I view our new church buildings, the more I think about the real temple that is not this building… but the body and heart in each church member here. (Nhưng càng ngắm và suy nghĩ đến ngôi nhà thờ này, tôi càng nghĩ đến một đền thờ thật, đó không phải là cơ sở này, nhưng chính là thân thể và tấm lòng của mỗi con cái Chúa ở đây.)
> The more the Holy Spirit convicts me that… as we have worked so hard to fix this beautiful church, we should work even harder to rebuild our bodies as the temples where God truly resides. (Đức Thánh Linh càng cáo trách lòng tôi cho biết là nếu c/ta đã bỏ ranhiều công sức để sửa chữa nhà thờ này đẹp đẽ lại, thì c/ta càng phải bỏ công sức nhiều hơn nữa, để sửa chữa lại thân thể của c/ta là đền thờ nơi Chúa ngự.)
# I am not talking about a “cosmetic facelift make-over” of this body, but a new heart dedicated totally to God, just as king David once prayed in Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Tôi không nó nói đến vấn đề thẩm mỹ, sửa sắc đẹp, nhưng là đổi mới tấm lòng tận hiến cho Chúa tất cả đời sống của mình, như ngày xưa Đavít có lần đã tha thiết cầu xin - “Đức Chúa Trời ôi! xin hãy dựng nên trong tôi một lòng trong sạch, và làm cho mới lại trong tôi một thần linh ngay thẳng.”)
II. The Real Temples
> In the Scriptures, we read this morning, the apostle Paul reminded the Christians about the real temple of God and that is our body – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” (Lời Kinh Thánh c/ta đọc sáng nay, sứ đồ Phaolô nhắc con cái Chúa, thân thể của c/ta chính là đền thờ nơi Thánh Linh Chúa đang ngự trị – “Anh em há chẳng biết rằng thân thể mình là đền thờ của Đức Thánh Linh đang ngự trong anh em, là Đấng mà anh em đã nhận bởi Đức Chúa Trời, và anh em chẳng phải thuộc về chính mình sao?”)
> Since the day that we repented of our sins and placed our trust in Jesus Christ, we are saved and the Spirit of God resides in our body and heart, and from there on we become the temples of God. (Từ lúc c/ta ăn năn tội và đặt đức tin của mình nơi Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, c/ta được cứu chuộc và Thần Linh của Chúa ở trong c/ta, mà từ đó mỗi người trở nên là đền thờ của Đức Chúa Trời.)
> Why did the holy God choose to reside in our body? (Tại sao Chúa thánh khiết vẹn toàn lại chọn ngự và sống trong thân thể của c/ta?)
# Simply, because we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. (Lý do là vì c/ta đã được chuộc bởi huyết của Chiên Con.)
# Jesus bought us with a great price of His own sinless blood pouring down from the cross. (Chúa Giê-xu đã trả một gía rất đắt bằng chính huyết vô tội của Ngài đổ ra từ thập tự gía.)
# During Easter, I have explained that Jesus’ blood has the “detergent” power to wash away all our sins once and for all. (Trong mùa Lễ Chúa Phục Sinh vừa qua tôi cũng đã giải thích rõ huyết Chúa Giê-xu mầu nhiệm biết bao, có quyền năng tẩy sạch hết tội lỗi của c/ta.)
> We become righteous before the perfectly holy God because of everything Jesus, God’s Son had done for us on the cross. (C/ta được xưng công bình trước mặt Chúa thánh khiết vẹn toàn bởi tất cả những gì Chúa Giê-xu đã làm cho c/ta ở trên cây thập tự gía.)
> And since we are holy before God because of what Christ did, His Spirit resides in us. God loves us and He wants to live inside of us. (Và từ lúc đó c/ta trở nên thánh sạch trước mặt Chúa bởi tất cả những gì Chúa Giê-xu đã làm cho c/ta, và còn hơn nữa nay Thần Linh của Ngài ngự trong lòng và đời sống của c/ta, vì Chúa yêu thương c/ta.)
> Each Sunday, we come here to this location ‘7133 Greenwell Springs Rd.,’ called the VHBC to worship God, but the true temple where we worship God… is our body, heart and mind. (Mỗi Chúa Nhật c/ta đến địa chỉ đây – 7133 Greenwell Springs Rd., chỗ gọi là VHBC để thờ phượng Chúa, nhưng đền thờ thật để c/ta thờ phượng chính là thân thể, tấm lòng và đời sống của mỗi c/ta.)
> We are God’s mailing address where He dwells in Us, and not limited to this physical address. (C/ta chính là “địa chỉ” của Chúa vì Ngài đang sống ở trong mỗi c/ta, chứ Chúa toàn năng không có bị giới hạn tại một chỗ được.)
III. We are the Walking Temples
1) What is a temple for? (Đền thờ là để làm gì?)
# It is a place of worship where people get connected with God. (Là nơi dân sự Chúa có mối liên hệ với Ngài qua sự thờ phượng.)
# It is a house of prayer where people communicate with God. (Là nơi dân sự Chúa cầu nguyện tương giao với Ngài.)
# It is a location where we serve God and fulfill our duties as priests to God. (Là nơi c/ta là dòng giống của những thầy tế lễ lo công việc của Đức Chúa Trời.)
> In the Old Testament and to the Jewish people, they believe the Holy of holies, the most inner part of their temple which had the ark of covenant with a mercy seat above, it was where God sat? (Trong Cưu Ước, người Do Thái tin rằng nơi chí thánh của đền thờ có hòm giao ước và trên đó có ngôi chuộc tội, và đó là chỗ Đức Chúa Trời ngự.)
# Ordinary human could not approach the Holy of holies without the blood? (Người thường không được đến gần nơi chí thánh này mà không có huyết.)
> But after Jesus died and took His last breath on the cross, the curtain separated the Holy and the Holy of holies places torn apart from top to the bottom; This means now we can access directly and boldly approach the throne of God through Jesus Christ. (Nhưng khi Chúa Giê-xu tắt hơi thở cuối cùng trên cây thập tự, thì bức màn phân rẽ giữa nơi thánh và nơi chí thánh bị xé rách từ trên xuống dưới; Đây có nghĩa là c/ta giờ đây được đến thẳng ngôi ơn phước tương giao với Đức Chúa Trời qua Chúa Giê-xu.)
> Today, we do not have to be bounded to a certain physical location in order to meet and worship God, but we are connected with God everywhere we go, because our body is now the temple of God where His Spirit resides. (Ngày hôm nay, thật ra c/ta không bị ràng buộc phải ở một chỗ nhất định thì mới thờ phượng Chúa được, nhưng c/ta luôn có mối liên hệ với Chúa ở bất cứ nơi nào c/ta đi, vì thân thể của c/ta giờ đây là đền thờ Chúa ngự.)
> We can say that our bodies are the walking temples 24/7, and always have the presence of His Spirit. (C/ta là những đền thờ di động mỗi giây, mỗi phút, vì c/ta luôn có sự hiện diện của Thần Linh Ngài.)
> A church building is never called a “Holy of Holies,” but now the believers’ body is. (Ngôi nhà thờ không còn là “nơi chí thánh” nữa, nhưng thân thể của mỗi kẻ tin.)
# So many Christians have miss-conceptions to still believe that God ONLY resides in the physical buildings called the church, and not in our body, heart, and mind; For that reason, some people can praise God with their lips, sing loudly “Alleluia” inside the church, but when they get out of the church, they live a life as “enemies of the cross,” because they don’t see God out there anymore. (Một số con cái Chúa vẫn còn có sự hiểu biết nông cạn, chỉ nghĩ rằng Chúa chỉ có ở và hiện diện trong nhà thờ mà thôi, nhưng không thật sự ở trong lòng c/ta. Họ vào nhà thờ lớn tiếng ca tung Chúa, hát Halêluia, nhưng khi ra khỏi nhà thờ thì sống như là những “kẻ thù của thập tự gía,” là bởi vì họ không thấy Chúa còn ở ngoài kia nữa.)
> We do not smoke, gamble, get drunk or curse in the church because we believe this is a sacred place; but when we go out there we do them, because we misunderstand our bodies are walking temples. (C/ta không ai hút thuốc, đánh bài, say sưa trong nhà thờ, hết vì c/ta ý thức đây là nơi thánh; nhưng ra ngoài thì c/ta xả làng chỉ vì c/ta không biết mình chính là đến thờ di động của Đức Chúa Trời.)
> Even sometimes we enter the church and do not show any respect for God’s temple, our body to worship? (Kể cả có khi c/ta vào đây nhóm, nhưng chưa biết kính trọng thân thể này là chỗ Thần của Đức Chúa Trời đang ngự chăng?)
# We just visited Washington DC, a famous place with so many important memorials. (Gia đình c/tôi vừa có cơ hội đi tham quang những ngôi đền kỷ niệm những người nổi tiếng.)
> In some of these historic sites such as the grave yard of president John Kennedy family, there are often a sign says: “No gum, no food or drink, and no throwing trash, keep silent” to show respect. (Một trong những chỗ đó là một của tổng thống Kenedy; khi vào những chỗ này luôn có những bản hiệu và người đứng canh ra dấu: “Không được nhai chewgum, không được đem thức ăn hay nước vào, không được nói chuyện lớn tiếng, không được phép xả rác” để bày tỏ sự kính trọng những vị này.)
# But some of us come into the church is the time to do web search, texting friends, checking news and weather, chewing gums, talking to others, drawing pictures, planning what to eat tonight, distracting with other people’s clothes… (Nhưng một số c/ta thì khác, vào thờ phượng Chúa là lúc mình có cơ hội yên lặng để tải Internet, gởi điện tín cho bạn bè, xem xét thời tiết, nhai chew-gum, nói chuyện xì xầm với nhau, vẽ hình người khác…)
> Even secular world, they know how to show respect to a person at a physical location; we are less to show respect to God’s temple, our body? (Người thế gian mà còn biết tôn trọng nhiều chỗ nghiêm trang; chẳng lẽ c/ta không biết tôn trọng chỗ Đức Chúa Trời ngự sao, chính là thân thể của mình?)
> The more we understand that we are the walking temples of God, the more our lifestyle, our words, and our actions would be different than the old ways of the flesh everywhere we go. (C/ta càng có sự hiểu biết mình là đền thờ di động của Chúa thì lời nói, lối sống và hành động của c/ta sẽ khác biệt không đi theo thói quen của con người cũ nữa, ở bất cứ chỗ nào c/ta đi.)
> Christianity does not happen only in the church, but wherever Christians go because they are God’s temples. (Đền thờ của đạo cơ đốc không có chỉ là cơ sở này, nhưng chỗ nào người cơ đốc đi và sống, chỗ đó là đền thờ cơ đốc, vì Chúa sống ở trong thân thể của họ.)
2) Paul also reminded us that our bodies are no longer belong to us, but are free to God. (Sứ đồ Phaolô nhắc nhở c/ta biết rằng thân thể của mình không thuộc của mình nữa, nhưng thuộc của Chúa.)
# In the Bible, Paul’s image about Christianity’s freedom does not picture a slave being sold to be free of doing whatever he wants, but being transferred from one owner to another, to God Who paid a great price. (Trong Kinh thánh, Phaolô khi giải thích sự tự do của cơ đốc nhân không có mang hình ảnh của một người nô lệ được chuộc để bây giờ muốn sống thế nào cũng được, nhưng là hình ảnh cửa sự chuyển quyền sở hữu từ một người này qua một người chủ khác.)
> Freedom does not mean the absence of control or moral absolutes. (Sự tự do không có nghĩa là sống không có sự ràng buộc gì hết.)
# Suppose a skydiver at 10,000 feet announces “I’m not using a parachute this time. I want total freedom.” Will it work? (Tỉ dự như có người có thú nhảy dù chơi và nói: “Hôm nay tôi không cần mang cái dù nữa. tôi muốn được tự do hoàn toàn.”)
> For a short time, that skydiver will know quickly what the law of gravity is. (Thì chẳng mấy chốc người đó nếm mùi của sức hút của trái đất nghĩa là sao.)
> But when the skydiver chooses the “constraint” of the parachute, he will safely enjoy the adventure. (Nhưng nếu người nhẩy dù đó bằng lòng bị kéo lại bởi cái dù thì sẽ an toàn thưởng thức thú vui chơi này.)
> We are free under the Lordship of Jesus Christ because our body is His and not ours; Jesus bought it with His own blood. (C/ta được tự do ở trong Đấng Christ là bởi vì thân thể của c/ta thuộc của Ngài, Chúa Giê-xu đã trả một gía rất đắt rồi.)
> We are no longer the master of our mouth, lips, hands, eyes, feet, heart and mind. (C/ta không còn làm chủ miệng lưỡi, tay chân, tấm lòng và ý tưởng của mình nữa.)
> So, we should not any longer use our body for an instrument of sin, but an instrument to bring glory to God. (Như vậy thì c/ta chớ có tiếp tục xử dụng thân thể đời sống mình là những dụng cụ cho tội lỗi nữa, nhưng là khí cụ để làm sáng danh Chúa.)
> Our body is now for showing off God, to make Him look good.
> Our body is not for satisfying our flesh and its desires, but to magnify God’s characters and goodness because it belongs to God. (Thân thể c/ta phải được dùng như một cái kính hiển vi để làm lớn ra đặc tánh tốt lành của Chúa vì nay c/ta thuộc của Ngài rồi.)
# What do people use a magnifying glass for? (Người ta dùng kính hiển vi để làm gì?)
> So, we can see small things that our normal eyes and heart cannot see. (Để thấy những vật nhỏ bé mà mắt và tư tưởng tầm thường không dễ thấy được.)
# Matthew 5:14-16 What did Jesus say about us? “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Trong Mathiơ 5, Chúa Giê-xu phán gì về c/ta? “Các ngươi là sự sáng của thế gian; một cái thành ở trên núi thì không khi nào bị khuất được: 15 cũng không ai thắp đèn mà để dưới cái thùng, song người ta để trên chân đèn, thì nó soi sáng mọi người ở trong nhà. 16 Sự sáng các ngươi hãy soi trước mặt người ta như vậy, đặng họ thấy những việc lành của các ngươi, và ngợi khen Cha các ngươi ở trên trời.”)
> Our body as a temple of God as a “magnifying glass” illuminates His goodness and holiness to the dark world through our words, actions and the way we behave. (Thân thể của c/ta là đền thờ của Đức Chúa Trời phải tỏa sáng sự tốt lành và thánh khiết của Chúa trong thế gian tối tăm này qua những lời nói và lối sống của mình.)
IV. Keep the Temples Clean
> If our body is the temple of God, then how should we keep it? (Nếu thân thể của c/ta là đền thờ của Chúa, thì c/ta phải giữ gìn nó như thế nào?)
1) First, we must keep it clean for God’s Spirit to reside. (Trước hết, c/ta phải giữ cho đền thờ được luôn sạch sẽ, vì là nơi Thần Linh Chúa ngự.)
# If you bought a brandnew house, how would you take care of it? (Nếu bạn mua một căn nhà mới thì bạn sẽ giữ nó như thế nào?)
a) You choose the perfect colors for the curtains and walls, plus the beautiful decorations in each room must reflect your own tastes? (Chọn những màu sắc của tấm màn và tường cùng những trang trí hợp với sở thích của mình?)
b) The expensive furniture must go with the values of your new house? (Bạn phải mua những đồ đạc đắt tiền xứng với căn nhà mới.)
c) You clean, sweep, mop and dust every day, especially when you have guests come and visit? (Bạn dọn dẹp lau chìu mỗi ngày cho sạch sẽ, nhất là khi có khách quí đến nhà bạn thăm?
# One particulate house, a lady took some plastic sheet to cover her new carpet because she didn’t want it get dirty.
# If you bought a brand-new car, how would you take care of it? (Nếu bạn mua một chiếc xe mới thì bạn sẽ giữ kỹ như thế nào?)
a) You constantly spray your car with air freshener to keep it smell good? (Bạn lúc nào cũng xịt thuốc thơm trong xe, chứ ai lại thích ngửi những mùi hôi hám?)
b) You put on new and expensive wheels to impress others? (Bạn gắn những bộ phận niền xe chói sáng lấy le với mọi người ai cũng phải dòm ngó đến?)
c) You bring your car to Benny Carwash every week? (Bạn đem xe đến ntiệm rửa mỗi tuần?)
d) You often park your car faraway from others to make sure no one scratches it? (Đậu xe bạn cũng không dám đậu gần ai hết, sợ bị trầy?)
> What’s about the temple of your body where God’s Spirit lives? Do you keep it clean and fresh all the times? (Nhưng còn đền thờ của Chúa là thân thể của bạn thì bạn đang giữ gìn như thế nào? Bạn có giữ sạch sẽ và thơm tho luôn không?)
> Is your temple clean under the carpet, in the closets, inside TV cables, in your computer, in the refrigerator… (Có mùi gì hôi hám ở dưới thảm, dưới nệm giường mình không? Có những thứ xấu xa dơ bẩn gì trong máy điện toán, Ipad của mình không?)
> Is any bitterness, lust, greed, jealousy, hatred, unforgiving attitude living in it? (Trong đền thờ này có sự hận thù, ghen tức, dục vọng xấu xa, cay đắng, chưa tha thứ ai không?)
> Is our life fading to shine for the glory of God, because our temples are not cleaned? (Đời sống c/ta chưa tỏa sáng sự vinh hiển của Chúa có phải vì đền thờ ở trong c/ta chưa được thánh sạch?)
# A story of a train conductor at a busy crossing holding a red flag to warn the people to stop because of a train was approaching. (Câu chuyện về một người lo việc phất một lá cờ màu đỏ đứng tại một đường rầy xe lửa làm dấu cho những chiếc xe biết ngừng lại mỗi khi xe lửa đang tiến tới.)
> But one day, there was a big accident happened; and the reason was because the red color on the flag was fading, so one of the car drivers could not see it, kept crossing the railroad tracks. (Nhưng một ngày có một tai nạn xe lửa đụng một chiếc xe; lý do là vì màu đỏ của lá cờ đã bị phai nhạt theo thời gian mà làm cho một người lái xe không thấy, cứ tiếp tục chạy qua đường rầy mà bị xe lửa đụng.)
> The “color light” of our temple is not shining because of sins in it that need to be put to death. (Đèn của đền thờ c/ta không còn chiếu sáng sao, vì đã bị lu mờ bởi tội lỗi mà cần được diệt chết, làm sạch khỏi thân thể c/ta.)
2) Secondly, what are you storing in the temple of your body? (Thứ hai, c/ta đang giữ gì trong đền thờ của mình?)
# Is it full of junkies, or healthy food from the words of God? (Có đầy những thứ ô uế xấu xa hay là lời tốt lành của Chúa?)
# I once visited a Christian leader (not this church), I saw he had shelves after shelves of video Paris by night; it seems as he had spent a lot of money on these video, but not even a Christian book or a Bible? (Có lần đến thăm gia đình của một người lãnh đạo của một Hội Thánh; Nhà ông có đầy những cuộn Video Paris by Night, không thiếu một cuộn nào. Có lẽ ông đã bỏ ra nhiều tiền để thâu trữ những thứ này và rất là hãnh diện, nhưng lại không có trưng bày một cuốn Kinh thánh nào hết?)
> We should not judge people; but to me if you live a life liked that, at least don’t call yourself a church leader? (Đương nhiên c/ta không nên phê bình người ta. Nhưng tối thiểu nếu cứ sống ham thích như vậy thì cũng đừng xưng mình là lãnh đạo Hội Thánh, phải không?)
> You know the term people always said “Garbage in, garbage out?” (Thiên hạ thường có câu nói: ”Rác vào thì rác ra thôi.”)
> If we store these junkies in our temples then how can our life illuminate God’s goodness and holiness? (Nếu c/ta cứ thâu trữ những điều ô uế xấu xa này thì thử hỏi đời sống của c/ta có sẽ tỏa sáng sự tốt lành và thánh khiết của Chúa được sao?)
# Matthew 15:19 - Jesus said – “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.” (Trong Mathiơ 15:9 Chúa Giê-xu phán – “Vì nơi lòng mà ra những ác tưởng, những tội giết người, tà dâm, dâm dục, trộm cướp, làm chứng dối, và lộng ngôn”)
> Why the church of God (His people) has not done much great things for the Lord? (Tại sao Hội Thánh Chúa ngày nay chưa làm được những việc khó và lớn cho Ngài?)
> I am sure because His church lacks His power. (Lý do là vì c/ta thiếu quyền năng của Chúa.)
> Why the church of God lacks of power? (Tại sao lại thiếu?)
# May be because God is not present there? But why? (Vì có lẽ chưa có sự hiện hữu tể trị hoàn toàn của Chúa? Tại sao?)
> May be because our temples have so many junkies that need to be clean out first? (Chưa có là vì trong đền thờ của c/ta còn thâu trữ nhiều những điều xấu xa cần được tẩy sạch?)
V. It’s Clean Up Time
1) It is time for us to cleanse our temples and to regain the full presence and power of God’s Spirit. (Đây là lúc c/ta cần thánh sạch đền thờ lại của mình để có lại sự hiện diện của Chúa và quyền năng của Ngài.)
# People usually do “Spring cleaning” of their houses about this time of the year. (Thiên hạ thường hay có thói quen “Dọn dẹp vào mùa Xuân” trong những ngày này?)
> Do you desire to do a “Soul cleaning” of your temple? (Bạn có đang thật mong được dọn sạch tấm lòng của mình khỏi những sự xấu xa ô uế của trần thế này không?)
> Few questions for each of us to self-exam: (Vài câu hỏi để tự xét:)
· How do we watch TV shows and movies? Are there any uncleaned things in them? (C/ta đang xem những chương trình hay phim ảnh nào? Có những gì xấu xa ở trong đó không?)
· How do I use Internet? (C/ta đang xử dụng Internet như thế nào? Có điều gì ô uế không?)
· What kind of music do I listen to? (Những loại nhạc c/ta đang nghe có giúp tăng trưởng đức tin của mình không? Có giúp c/ta càng gần biết Chúa hơn không?)
· What kind of video games I like to play? How much time I spend with it? (Có những trò chơi điện tử nào mà lấy đi hết thì giờ của mình không?)
· Do I work too much and put off the priority of worship and daily devotion? (Có vì công ăn việc làm quá sức, sự giải trí, thể thao mà lấy đi hết sự ưu tiên của sự nhóm lại và học Kinh Thánh mỗi ngày của mình không?)
· Am I faithfull to my calling to serve God? (Tôi có sốt sắng siêng năng trong chức vụ Chúa gọi mình không?)
· Is any thought of jealousy, bitterness, unforgiving in our mind? (Trong trí óc của c/ta có những ý tưởng ghen tị, cay đắng, không tha thứ ai không?)
· Does our mouth speak evils to anyone? (Miệng c/ta có thường nói xấu về ai không?)
· Are we living in a hyprocrite lifestyle? (C/ta có đang sống gỉa hình không?)
· Are we keeping our promises to God and to His church? (C/ta có giữ những lới hứa với Chúa và với Hội Thánh của Ngài không?)
· Do we behave in opposite ways of what we pledge to do according to God’s words? (C/ta có đang sống ngược với những lời mình đã cam kết không?)
2) After recognizing these sins, we need to confess them to God. (Sau khi tự xét, bước tới c/ta cần xưng tội mình ra với Ngài, từng tội một.)
# 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (Trong 1 Giăng 1:9 có chép – “Còn nếu chúng ta xưng tội mình, thì Ngài là thành tín công bình để tha tội cho chúng ta, và làm cho chúng ta sạch mọi điều gian ác.”)
3) After confessing our sins to God, we need to re-dedicate our body to God, to be separated for God’s use. That is the meaning of holiness. (Sau khi xưng tội rồi thì hãy tận hiến cả đời sống thân thể tấm lòng của m ình biệt riêng ra cho Chúa làm Chủ và xử dụng.)
> Romans 12:1 Paul encourages us – “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Trong Rôma 12:1 sứ đồ Phaolô ra mạng lệnh – “Vậy, hỡi anh em, tôi lấy sự thương xót của Đức Chúa Trời khuyên anh em dâng thân thể mình làm của lễ sống và thánh, đẹp lòng Đức Chúa Trời, ấy là sự thờ phượng phải lẽ của anh em.”)
> Do you have a desire for a new heart, mind and body to dedicate to God? (Bạn có thật đang muốn tận hiến thân thể và đời sống của mình cho Chúa không?)
# Ezekiel 36:25-27 – God once promised what to His people? “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” (Trong Êxêchiên 36:25-27 - Đức Chúa Trời hứa ban cho dân sự Ngài điều gì? “Ta sẽ rưới nước trong trên các ngươi, và các ngươi sẽ trở nên sạch; ta sẽ làm sạch hết mọi sự ô uế và mọi thần tượng của các ngươi. 26 Ta sẽ ban lòng mới cho các ngươi, và đặt thần mới trong các ngươi. Ta sẽ cất lòng bằng đá khỏi thịt các ngươi, và ban cho các ngươi lòng bằng thịt.”)
> This must be what we desire – a cleaned and new heart. (Đây phải là điều c/ta mong có được - một tấm lòng mới và trong sạch.)
> We don’t have an official day of dedicating these repaired buildings of VHBC to God, but why not today, April 30, 2017. (Hội Thánh c/ta klhông có định một ngày nào nhất định để tận hiến nhà thờ mới sửa lại này cho Chúa, nhưng tại sao c/ta không chọn ngay hôm nay đi, tháng Tư ngày 30?)
> Dedicate not just the buildings, but more important our heart, mind and body as the walking temples of God, to illuminate His goodness and holiness everywhere we go and in everything we do. (Nhưng không chỉ tận hiến ngôi nhà thờ này thôi, nhưng chính thân thể, tấm lòng và đời sống của Chúa như những đến thờ di động để tỏa sáng sự tốt lành và thánh khiết của Chúa c/ta.)

# Our body is not a hotel to check in at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and clock out at 12:15 p.m.
> Our bodies are the temples of God where His Spirit resides.
> Do you know that our body is God’s temple where His Spirit resides?
> We take Christ with us wherever we go, and whatever we do.
> So if God’s Spirit lives in our bodies, how must we keep them?
# Keep it clean out of all the junkies of this world.
> If God resides in our bodies, what should we store in our temples?
# Fill them with the words of God.
> We must not use our body to satify the desires of our flesh, but an instrument to bring glory to God, to illuminate His goodness and holiness.
> We can hide things from others, but we cannot hide them from God, because He lives inside of us.
> Don’t you know that our bodies are so precious to God that He has promised to raise them from the dead one day and give us even more perfect bodies?
> Just as much as we take care the buildings of VHBC, we should even put more efforts to take care the temple of God – our bodies.
> Let’s make this day – April 30th, 2017 as the day we dedicate our new repaired buildings to God, and at the same time, we re-dedicate our heart, mind, body, and our life to Him as “as a living sacrifice, holy walking temples and pleasing to God.”
> Let’s do it today. We come to the altar this morning toask the Holy Spirit revealing and convicting our sins, we come to the altar to confess our sins, and we come to the altar this morning to re-dedicate our temples to God this morning.

> We are about to leave this church, but the temple inside each of us will go with us.
> So help us Lord to let Your temples, our body and life illuminate Your goodness and holiness in us through every word we say and every acts we do.
Walking Temples
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
Since last August’s flood, many people have worked so hard to rebuild our church facilities from replacing new floor carpet, the sheetrock walls to installing new doors and equipment. We are so blessed to even have available funding to remodel our fellowship room with beautiful ceiling lights. But the more I view our new church buildings, the more I think about the real temple that is not this building, but the body and heart in each church member here. The more the Holy Spirit convicts me that as we have worked so hard to fix this beautiful church, we should work even harder to rebuild our bodies as the temples where God truly resides. I am not talking about a “cosmetic facelift make-over” of this body, but a new heart dedicated totally to God, just as king David once prayed in Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
In the Scriptures we read this morning, the apostle Paul reminded the Christians about the real temple of God and that is our body. Since the day that we repented of our sins and placed our trust in Jesus Christ, we are saved and the Spirit of God resides in our body and heart, and from there on we become the temples of God. Why did the holy God choose to reside in our body? Simply, because we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Jesus bought us with a great price of His own sinless blood pouring down from the cross. We become righteous before the perfectly holy God because of everything Jesus, God’s Son had done for us on the cross. And since we are holy before God, His Spirit resides in us, God lives inside of us. Each Sunday, we come here to this location ‘7133 Greenwell Springs Rd.,’ called the VHBC to worship God, but the true temple where we worship God is our body, heart and mind.
What is a temple for? It is a place of worship where people get connected with God. It is a house of prayer where people communicate with God. It is a location where we serve God and fulfill our duties as priests to God. In the Old Testament and to the Jewish people, they believe the Holy of holies, the most inner part of their temple which had the ark of covenant with a mercy seat above, it was where God sat. But after Jesus died and took His last breath on the cross, the curtain separated the Holy and the Holy of holies places torn apart from top to the bottom; This means now we can access directly and boldly approach the throne of God through Jesus Christ. Today, we do not have to be bounded to a certain physical location to meet and worship God, but we are connected with God everywhere we go, because our body is now the temple of God where His Spirit resides. We can say that our bodies are the walking temples 24/7, and always have the presence of His Spirit. So many Christians have miss-conceptions to still believe that God ONLY resides in the physical buildings called the church, and not in our body, heart, and mind; For that reason, some people can praise God with their lips, sing loudly “Alleluia” inside the church, but when they get out of the church, they live a life as “enemies of the cross,” because they don’t see God out there anymore. But the more we understand that we are the walking temples of God, the more our lifestyle, our words, and our actions would be different than the old ways of the flesh everywhere we go.
Paul also reminded us that our bodies are no longer belong to us, but are free to God. In the Bible, Paul’s image about Christianity’s freedom does not picture a slave being sold to be free of doing whatever he wants, but being transferred from one owner to another, to God Who paid a great price. We are free under the Lordship of Jesus Christ because our body is His and not ours; Jesus bought it with His own blood. We are no longer the master of our mouth, lips, hands, eyes, feet, heart and mind. So, we should not any longer use our body for an instrument of sin, but an instrument to bring glory to God. Our body is now for showing off God, to make Him look good and not for satisfying our flesh and its desires. Our body as a “magnifying glass” illuminates His goodness and holiness to the dark world through our words, actions and the way we behave.
If our body is the temple of God, then how should we keep it? First, we must keep it clean for God’s Spirit to reside. If you bought a brand-new house, how would you take care of it? You choose the perfect colors for the curtains and walls, plus the beautiful decorations in each room must reflect your own tastes? The expensive furniture must go with the values of your new house? You clean, sweep, mop and dust every day, especially when you have guests come and visit? What’s about the temple of your body where God’s Spirit lives? Do you keep it clean and fresh all the times? Is our temple clean under the carpet, in the closets, inside TV cables, in your computer, in the refrigerator…? Is any bitterness, lust, greed, jealousy, hatred, unforgiving attitude living in it? Secondly, what are you storing in the temple of your body? Is it full of junkies, or healthy food from the words of God? If we store these junkies in our temples, then how can our life illuminate God’s goodness and holiness?
Why the church of God (His people) has not done much great things for the Lord? I am sure because His church lacks His power. Why the church of God lacks of power? May be because God is not present there? But why? May be because our temples have so many junkies that need to be clean out first? It is time for us to cleanse our temples and to regain the full presence and power of God’s Spirit. People usually do “Spring cleaning” of their houses about this time of the year. Do you desire to do a “Soul cleaning” of your temple? Few questions for each of us to self-exam:
· How do we watch TV shows and movies? Are there any uncleaned things in them?
· How do I use Internet?
· What kind of music do I listen to?
· What kind of video games I like to play? How much time I spend with it?

· Is any thought of jealousy, bitterness, unforgiving in our mind?
· Does our mouth speak evils to anyone?
· Are we living in a hypocrite lifestyle?
