Chúa Là Đấng Lớn Hơn

(Luca 18:18-27)

“Bấy giờ có một quan hỏi Đức Chúa Jêsus rằng: Thưa thầy nhân lành, tôi phải làm gì cho được hưởng sự sống đời đời? 19 Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Sao ngươi gọi ta là nhân lành? Chỉ có một Đấng nhân lành, là Đức Chúa Trời. 20 Ngươi đã biết các điều răn nầy: Ngươi chớ phạm tội tà dâm; chớ giết người; chớ trộm cướp; chớ nói chứng dối; hãy hiếu kính cha mẹ. 21 Người ấy thưa rằng: Tôi đã giữ các điều ấy từ thuở nhỏ. 22 Đức Chúa Jêsus nghe vậy, bèn phán rằng: Còn thiếu cho ngươi một điều; hãy bán hết gia tài mình, phân phát cho kẻ nghèo, thì ngươi sẽ có của cải ở trên trời; bấy giờ hãy đến mà theo ta. 23 Nhưng người ấy nghe mấy lời thì trở nên buồn rầu, vì giàu có lắm. 24 Đức Chúa Jêsus thấy người buồn rầu, bèn phán rằng: Kẻ giàu vào nước Đức Chúa Trời là khó dường nào! 25 Lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu vào nước Đức Chúa Trời! 26 Những người nghe điều đó, nói rằng: Vậy thì ai được cứu? 27 Ngài đáp rằng: Sự chi người ta không làm được, thì Đức Chúa Trời làm được.”

“A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” 21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said. 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

> How big is your faith? (Đức tin của bạn là loại lớn cỡ nào – small, medium or X-large?)

> The size of your faith depends on how big is the God you trust. (Lớn hay không tùy thuộc vào đối tượng nào bạn đang tin cậy mà thôi.)

> The bigger the God you trust the stronger the faith you have. (Đấng c/ta tin cậy càng vĩ đại bao nhiêu thì sức mạnh của đức tin c/ta càng lớn bấy nhiêu.)

# Some people’s faith is still small, because they still have a limited concept of God, rather than knowing Who He really is. (Ngược lại, đức tin c/ta nhỏ, là vì c/ta chỉ thấy Chúa bằng một khái niệm giới hạn của mình, thay vì có sự hiểu biết Chúa y như chính Ngài là ai.)

> So, it is very important for us to have a correct view of God. How do I have this? (Điều rất quan trọng cho c/ta là phải có một cái nhìn đúng về Chúa, Đấng c/ta đang tin cậy là ai.)

I. The Gigantic Size of Heaven

> First, look up into heaven to see how big God is. (Trước hết, hãy nhìn lên bầu trời vũ trụ mênh mông để thấy được sự vĩ đại của Chúa.)

# Psalm 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Thi Thiên 19:1 có chép – “Các từng trời rao truyền sự vinh hiển của Đức Chúa Trời, bầu trời giải tỏ công việc tay Ngài làm.”)

> How big is heaven? (Bầu trời lớn cỡ nào bạn có biết không?)

> This week in Vacation Bible School, children have learned how big the heaven is. (Trong chương trình Thánh Kinh mùa Hè tuần qua, các trẻ em cũng đã học biết sự vĩ đại của bầu trời.)

> Let’s review some facts: (Hãy xem lại những sự kiện thực tế về vũ trụ không gian:)

1) What is a galaxy? (Định nghĩa một Ngân hà là gì?)

# A star system including a sun with many planets rotating around it. (Mỗi Ngân Hà là một hệ thống của ngôi sao, trong đó có một mặt trời và nhiều những hành tinh quay xung quanh nó.)

> Astronomers believe that there are millions of these galaxies (star systems) are out in the space. (Các nhà bác học về vũ trụ tiên đoán có cả triệu những ngân hà này ở trong không gian mà không ai có thể đếm hết hay thấu hiểu được.)

> Our galaxy has the name of Milky Way including a total of 8 planets. (Ngân hà của c/ta có tên là Milky Way, trong đó có tất cả 8 hành tinh xoay vần xung quang mặt trời.)

# The earth is the third planet from the sun. (Trái đất c/ta là hành tinh thứ 3 cách xa mặt trời.)

2) How fast does our galaxy travel in space? (Ngân hà của c/ta đang di chuyển nhanh như thế nào?)

# The answer is about 1.2 million mph. (Câu trả lời là ~1 triệu 200 ngàn dặm mỗi giờ.)

3) How fast does the earth rotate around its axis? (Quả đất của c/ta quay xung quanh trục của nó với tốc độ là bao nhiêu?)

# About 1,040 mph, and scientists still do not understand why we are not centrifuged out into space? (Khoãng 1,040 dặm một giờ mà các bác học không hiểu tại sao c/ta không bị văng đi bởi sức xoáy của trái đất?)

4) What is the approximate temperature of the sun? (Nhiệt độ của mặt trời nóng khoãng bao nhiêu?)

# 27,000,000 degree F. versus our body temperature of ~98.6. (27 triệu độ, so sánh với nhiệt độ bình thường của c/ta là chỉ có ~99 độ.)

> Who created all of these in perfect order, so our life on the planet earth can be maintained? (Vậy ai là Đấng đã dựng nên mọi sự lạ lùng này, để duy trì sự sống của loài người trên quả địa cầu này?)

# Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Sách Sáng Thế Ký 1:1 giúp cho c/ta biết Đấng đó - “Ban đầu Đức Chúa Trời dựng nên trời đất.”)

> God is the great Creator of all things. (Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng Sáng Tạo nên muôn loài và vạn vật.)

> The creation is liked a “telescope” for us to see that God exists and How great Thou Art! (Sự sáng tạo lạ lùng xung quanh c/ta từ những giọt mưa cho đến tiếng sét đánh trong bầu trời không gian vĩ đại là “kính thiên văn” cho c/ta thấy được sự hiện hữu của Chúa và “Lớn Bấy Duy Ngài.”)

# In one of the comic books by Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner did a comedy skit years ago about “An old man.” (Một cuốn sách chép về vở kịch ngắn của tác gỉa Mel Brooks và Carl Reiner.)

> In the skit, Reiner interviewed Brooks, who was the old man. (Trong vở kịch này ông Reiner phỏng vấn ông Brooks.)
> Reiner asked the old man, "Did you always believe in God?" (Reiner hỏi Brooks: “Có phải bạn lúc nào cũng đã tin Chúa không?)
> Brooks replied: "No. We had a guy in our village named “Phil” and for a long time we worshiped him." (“Không! Ngày xưa c/tôi tin cậy vào một người tên Phil sống ở trong làng rất lâu, đến nỗi quì lạy Phil như là một ông thần vậy.”)
> Reiner: “You worshiped a guy named Phil? Why?” (“Anh đã thờ phượng ông Phil này tại sao?”)
> Brooks: “Because he was big, very mean, and he could break you in two pieces with his bare hands!” (“Vì Phil là người có sức mạnh kinh khủng, tướng to lớn và rất dữ dằn, ông có thể bẻ nát bất cứ ai ra làm đôi với 2 bàn tay của anh.”)
> Reiner: “Did you have prayers?” (“Anh có đã thường cầu xin gì?”)

> We must have a correct view of God as a great Creator of all. (C/ta phải có một cái nhìn đúng về Đấng Sáng Tạo của mọi loài, đó là Đức Chúa Trời, bởi những sự vĩ đại Ngài đã dựng nên.)

II. Bible

> Secondly, look into the Bible to see how glorious and holy God is. (Thứ hai, c/ta phải nhìn xem trong Kinh Thánh để có thể thấy sự vinh hiển và thánh khiết vẹn toàn của Chúa.)

> We will read two events in the Old Testament to see this truth about God.

1) The first recorded event was when Moses went up to the mountain to meet God and receive the 10 commandments in Exodus 19 (Một sự kiện có chép trong sánh Kinh Thánh Xuất Hành 19 khi vị lãnh đạo Môise lên núi gặp Chúa và được ban cho 10 điều răn) – “The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” Then Moses told the Lord what the people had said. 10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day, because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. 12 Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death. 13 They are to be stoned or shot with arrows; not a hand is to be laid on them. No person or animal shall be permitted to live.’ Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast may they approach the mountain.” (“Chúa phán rằng: Nầy, ta sẽ ở trong đám mây mịt mịt đi đến ngươi; đặng khi nào ta phán cùng ngươi, thì dân sự nghe và tin cậy ngươi luôn luôn. Đoạn, Môi-se đem lời của dân sự thưa lại cho Đức Giê-hô-va. 10 Đức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy đi đến cùng dân sự, khiến dân giữ mình thánh sạch ngày nay và ngày mai, cùng phải giặt áo xống mình. 11 Qua ngày thứ ba, dân khá sẵn sàng, vì ngày đó Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ giáng lâm trước mắt dân sự tại núi Si-na-i. 12 Vả, ngươi hãy phân định giới hạn cho dân sự ở chung quanh núi, và dặn rằng: Khá giữ mình đừng leo lên núi, hoặc đụng đến chân; hễ kẻ nào đụng đến thì sẽ bị xử tử. 13 Chớ ai tra tay vào mình người đó, nhưng người đó phải bị liệng đá hoặc bắn tên; bất luận vật hay người, cũng chẳng để cho sống đâu. Khi kèn thổi lên, dân sự sẽ đến gần núi.”)

14 After Moses had gone down the mountain to the people, he consecrated them, and they washed their clothes. 15 Then he said to the people, “Prepare yourselves for the third day. Abstain from sexual relations.” (“Môi-se xuống núi đến cùng dân sự, khiến họ giữ mình thánh sạch, và giặt áo xống mình. 15 Người dặn dân sự rằng: Trong ba ngày hãy sẵn sàng chớ đến gần đàn bà.”)

16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently. 19 As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.” (“Qua sáng ngày thứ ba, có sấm vang chớp nhoáng, một áng mây mịt mịt ở trên núi, và tiếng kèn thổi rất vang động; cả dân sự ở trong trại quân đều run hãi. 17 Môi-se bèn biểu dân ra khỏi trại quân nghinh tiếp Đức Chúa Trời; dân sự dừng lại tại chân núi. 18 Vả, bấy giờ, khắp núi Si-na-i đều ra khói, vì Đức Giê-hô-va ở trong lửa giáng lâm nơi đó; khói ra khác nào khói của lò lửa lớn kia, và cả hòn núi đều rung động cách kịch liệt. 19 Tiếng kèn càng vang động; Môi-se nói, Đức Chúa Trời đáp tiếng lại.”)

> God is not just big, but He is perfectly holy, no human can come near Him, directly meet Him without the “consecration.” It is impossible for human as sinners to approach God directly. (Chúa không chỉ là Đấng lớn, nhưng Ngài còn thánh khiết vẹn toàn, không có loài nào có thể đến gần với Chúa mà chưa được thánh sạch. Đây là điều con người không ai có thể tự nhiên làm được.)

2) Another recorded event was of Elijah facing more than 850 idol priests on a mountain as recorded in 1 Kings 18 to show God’s power. (Một sự kiện khác có chép trong 1 Các Vua 18, khi tiên tri Êli một mình đối diện với 850 các thầy tế lễ tà thần trên núi để cho c/ta thầy quyền năng lạ lùng của Ngài) – “So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, troubler of Israel?” 18 “I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals. 19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.” 20 So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. – “Vậy, Áp-đia đi đón A-háp, và thuật lại cho người. A-háp bèn đi đón Ê-li. 17 Vừa khi A-háp thấy Ê-li, thì nói rằng: Có phải ngươi, là kẻ làm rối loạn Y-sơ-ra-ên chăng? 18 Ê-li đáp rằng: Chẳng phải tôi làm rối loạn Y-sơ-ra-ên đâu; bèn là vua và nhà cha vua, bởi vì vua đã bỏ điều răn của Đức Giê-hô-va, và đã tin theo thần Ba-anh. 19 Vậy bây giờ vua hãy sai người đi nhóm cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, với bốn trăm năm mươi tiên tri của Ba-anh, và bốn trăm tiên tri của Át-tạt-tê, ăn tại bàn Giê-sa-bên, khiến họ đến cùng tôi trên núi Cạt-mên. 20 Vậy, A-háp sai người đi nhóm cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên và những tiên tri đến núi Cạt-mên.”)

21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing. 22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.” Then all the people said, “What you say is good.” (“Đoạn Ê-li đến trước mặt dân sự mà nói rằng: Các ngươi đi giẹo hai bên cho đến chừng nào? Nếu Giê-hô-va là Đức Chúa Trời, khá theo Ngài; nếu Ba-anh là Đức Chúa Trời, hãy theo hắn. Song dân sự không đáp một lời. 22 Bấy giờ, Ê-li nói với dân sự rằng: Trong vòng những tiên tri của Đức Giê-hô-va, chỉ một mình ta còn lại; còn các tiên tri Ba-anh số là bốn trăm năm mươi người. 23 Vậy, hãy cho chúng ta hai con bò đực; họ phải chọn một con cho mình, sả ra từ miếng, sắp để trên củi, nhưng chớ châm lửa. Còn ta, ta sẽ làm con bò kia, để nó trên củi, nhưng không châm lửa. 24 Đoạn, hãy kêu cầu danh của thần các ngươi, còn ta, ta sẽ kêu cầu danh của Đức Giê-hô-va. Thần đáp lời bằng lửa, ấy quả là Đức Chúa Trời. Cả dân sự đều đáp rằng: Lời nói rất phải.”)

25 Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.” 26 So they took the bull given them and prepared it. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. “Baal, answer us!” they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made. 27 At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. 29 Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention. (“Ê-li bèn nói với những tiên tri Ba-anh rằng: hãy chọn một con bò đực, làm nó trước đi, vì các ngươi đông; rồi hãy cầu khẩn danh của thần các ngươi; nhưng chớ châm lửa. 26 Vậy, chúng bắt con bò mà người ta đã ban cho mà làm nó; rồi từ sớm mai đến trưa, chúng cầu khẩn danh của Ba-anh, và rằng: Hỡi Ba-anh! xin đáp lời chúng tôi. Nhưng chẳng có tiếng gì, cũng chẳng ai đáp lời; chúng đều nhảy chung quanh bàn thờ mình đã dựng lên. 27 Khi đã đến trưa, Ê-li nhạo chúng mà rằng: Khá la lớn lên đi, vì người là thần; hoặc người đang suy gẫm, hoặc ở đâu xa, hoặc đang đi đường; hay là có lẽ người ngủ, và sẽ thức dậy. 28 Vậy, chúng kêu lớn tiếng; và theo thói lệ họ, lấy gươm giáo gạch vào mình cho đến chừng máu chảy ra.”)

30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down. 31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.” 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.” 34 “Do it again,” he said, and they did it again. “Do it a third time,” he ordered, and they did it the third time. 35 The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench. 36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. 39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!” 40 Then Elijah commanded them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let anyone get away!” They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.” (“Khi quá trưa rồi, họ cứ nói tiên tri như vậy cho đến giờ dâng của lễ chay ban chiều; nhưng vẫn không có tiếng gì, chẳng ai đáp lời, cũng không cố ý đến. 30 Bấy giờ, Ê-li nói với cả dân sự rằng: Hãy đến gần ta. Dân sự bèn đến gần người. Đoạn, Ê-li sửa lại cái bàn thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va bị phá hủy. 31 Người lấy mười hai hòn đá, theo số mười hai chi phái của các con trai Gia-cốp, là người mà lời của Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán cho rằng: Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ là tên ngươi. 32 Người dùng mười hai hòn đá ấy mà dựng lên một cái bàn thờ nhân danh Đức Giê-hô-va; chung quanh bàn thờ, người đào một cái mương đựng được hai đấu hột giống; 33 rồi chất củi, sả bò tơ ra từ miếng, và sắp nó lên trên củi. Kế người nói: 34 Hãy múc đầy bốn bình nước, và đem đổ trên của lễ thiêu và củi. Người lại nói: Hãy làm lần thứ nhì; thì người ta làm lần thứ nhì. Người tiếp: Hãy làm lần thứ ba, và họ làm lần thứ ba, 35 cho đến đỗi nước chảy chung quanh bàn thờ, và đầy cái mương nữa. 36 Đến giờ dâng của lễ chay ban chiều, tiên tri Ê-li đến gần và nguyện rằng: Lạy Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, của Y-sác, và của Y-sơ-ra-ên, ngày nay xin hãy tỏ cho người ta biết rằng Ngài là Đức Chúa Trời trong Y-sơ-ra-ên, rằng tôi là kẻ tôi tớ Ngài, và tôi vâng lời Ngài mà làm mọi sự này. 37 Đức Giê-hô-va ôi! Xin nhậm lời tôi, xin đáp lời tôi, hầu cho dân sự này nhìn biết rằng Giê-hô-va là Đức Chúa Trời, và Ngài khiến cho lòng họ trở lại. 38 Lửa của Đức Giê-hô-va bèn giáng xuống, thiêu đốt của lễ thiêu, củi, đá, bụi, và rút nước trong mương. 39 Thấy vậy, cả dân sự sấp mình xuống đất, và la rằng: Giê-hô-va là Đức Chúa Trời! Giê-hô-va là Đức Chúa Trời! 40 Ê-li nói với chúng rằng: Hãy bắt các tiên tri của Ba-anh, chớ cho thoát một người nào. Chúng bèn bắt họ, Ê-li đem họ xuống dưới khe Ki-sôn, và giết họ tại đó.”)

> Jehovah is the true, powerful and living God, greater than all dumb idols. (Đức Giêhôva là Chân Thần, Đấng quyền năng và sống, lớn hơn mọi thần câm mà không biết nói, cũng chẳng đi được.)

III. Jesus

> Thirdly, look into Jesus, His Son to know that God is loving. (Thứ ba, c/ta nhìn vào Chúa Giê-xu để biết Chúa là Đấng yêu thương.)

# Hebrews 1:1-3 said – “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. >The Bible is very clear on the fact that God of the Old Testament IS the God of the New Testament; The only thing that really changed was the relationship of the same God had with His people. > The holy Father as God came near to us in His Son as God in human… to bring grace and salvation to all mankind. (Đức Chúa Cha thánh khiết là Chúa đã đến gần với c/ta qua Con Ngài là Chúa trong thân xác loài người… để đem sự cứu chuộc đến cho nhân loại.)

> How does God’s love and grace demonstrate in Christ Jesus when He came? (Sự yêu thương của Đức Chúa Trời bày tỏ như thế nào trong Chúa Giê-xu khi Ngài đến?)

# In Matthew 15 recorded what Jesus often did when He was on earth – “Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.” (Trong Mathiơ 15, Chúa Giê-xu đã thường làm gì? “Đức Chúa Jêsus từ đó đi đến gần biển Ga-li-lê; rồi lên trên núi mà ngồi. > Jesus met the needs of the people, bringing all kinds of healings, not destruction. (Giê-xu đến đáp ứng mọi nhu cầu của c/ta, gánh nặng của c/ta, chữa lành mọi bệnh tật, chứ không phá hủy hay làm hại.)

> But the greatest thing Jesus did to show God’s love is to reconcile sinners back to God – that’s is an impossible task for a human to do, even with all the good works we have done. (Nhưng điều quan trọng nhất Chúa Giê-xu đã đến bày tỏ tình yêu thương của Đức Chúa Trời đó là làm cho kẻ có tội được hoà thuận lại với Đức Chúa Trời. > This was illustrated in Luke 18 about a rich, young ruler came to Jesus and thought to himself that with all the religious and good works he did since he was a young boy, he deserved the right to enter straight into heaven. # In the sense of the Old Testament, this young man thought that he could go straight up to the mountain to meet God? (Theo nghĩa Cựu Ước thì anh tự nghĩ mình xứng đáng được lên thẳng núi mà gặp Chúa?)

> He was a good boy – he did not commit any adultery, not murder, not stealing, not lying, and always honor his father and mother. (Chàng là một người rất đạo đức ít ai so sánh bằng, không phạm tội tà dâm, không giết người, không nói dối, và lúc nào cũng hiếu kính cha mẹ.)

> In the eyes of the crowd – he was a perfect boy; if there is a line to wait at the gate of heaven, then this boy will surely be the first in line. (Dưới con mắt đám đông anh là một người trọn vẹn; Nếu trên thiên đàng trước cổng phải đứng xếp hàng vào thì chính anh sẽ là người đứng ở đằng đầu tiên.)

> But surprisingly, in v. 22 Jesus said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” (Nhưng nào ngờ trong c. 22 Chúa Giê-xu phán cùng anh – “Còn thiếu cho ngươi một điều; hãy bán hết gia tài mình, phân phát cho kẻ nghèo, thì ngươi sẽ có của cải ở trên trời; bấy giờ hãy đến mà theo Ta.”)

1) There is no “good-enough” act or work that would satisfy the holiness of God for Him to accept us, as the Bible in Isaiah 64:7 said – “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.” (Không có một công đức cá nhân nào tốt đủ, để thỏa mãn trọn vẹn sự thánh khiết của Đức Chúa Trời, để Ngài nhận c/ta, y như sách Êsai 64 có chép – “Chúng tôi hết thảy đã trở nên như vật ô uế, mọi việc công bình của chúng tôi như áo nhớp; chúng tôi thảy đều héo như lá, và tội ác chúng tôi như gió đùa mình đi.”)

> The best of all our good works summed them up together are still stinky because our God is big, powerful, and perfectly holy. (Tất cả những công đức tốt nhất của c/ta cộng vào thì vẫn còn có mùi hôi thúi trước mặt Chúa vì Ngài là Đấng lớn, quyền năng và thánh khiết vẹn toàn.)

> God only accepts a humble and sincere heart to trust in Him totally and follow His words. (Chúa chỉ chấp nhận sự kính phục hoàn toàn của một tấm lòng thành tin cậy nơi Ngài mà thôi.)

2) When the good, young, rich ruler left, Jesus’ disciples wondered and asked Him - “Who then can be saved?” (Sau khi chàng trai trẻ đạo đức, giàu có và quyền thế bỏ đi về, thì các môn đồ của Chúa tự hỏi – “Khó như vậy thì ai được cứu?”)

> And Jesus replied with a profound answer for us to know Who our God is - “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Ngài đáp lời một cách sâu sắc như sau: “Sự chi người ta không làm được, thì Đức Chúa Trời làm được.”)

# When money, fame, good works, religions cannot do it; in Jesus, the big and holy God can. (Khi tiền bạc, quyền thế, công đức, tôn giáo không thể cứu được, thì trong Đấng Christ, Đức Chúa Trời lớn và thánh khiết vẹn toàn có thể làm được cho c/ta.)

> When no one, including the rich young ruler could build a ladder that reaches to heaven, could enter His presence, could live in His kingdom forever one day, but through Jesus anyone of us can, if we are willing to trust Him! (Khi không có một ai, kể cả chàng trai trẻ giàu có này có thể xây một cái thang đụng đến trời mà vào sự hiện diện của Chúa và ở trong nước của Ngài, thì qua Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, bất ai cũng có thể có ơn này, miễn là c/ta bằng lòng tin cậy Ngài.)

> It is all possible for anyone to reconnect with God in Christ Jesus. (Điều Đức Chúa Trời có thể làm được để c/ta có mối liên hệ lại với Ngài qua chính Con Ngài là Chúa Giê-xu.)

> A story of a missionary named Jackson; when he came to the mission field, he was assigned a car that would not start without a push (xe phải đẩn mới chạy).

> After pondering (suy nghĩ) his car problem, he devised (xếp đặt) a plan. He went to the school near his home, got permission to take some children out of class, and had them push his car off.

> When he made his rounds, he would either park on a hill or leave the engine running. He used this ingenious procedure for two years.
> But the health problem forced the Jackson family to leave and a new missionary came.

> Before leaving the mission field, Jackson proudly began to explain his arrangement for getting the car started to the new missionary.

> The new missionary began looking under the hood. Before the explanation was complete, the new missionary interrupted, "Dr. Jackson, I believe the only trouble is this loose cable." (Giây cáp bị lỏng)

> He gave the cable a twist, stepped into the car, pushed the switch, and to Jackson’s astonishment, the engine roared to life. (máy xe nổ ngay)

> We worship the great, big, powerful and holy God Who is the Creator of all things.

> We do not worship dead people or idol statues that have eyes but cannot see, legs that cannot walk.

> Look up and see heavens to know how big our Creator is.

> Look into the Bible to see how holy He is.

> Look into Jesus to see how gracious and merciful God is.

> Mankind cannot approach this great God – it is impossible.

# Religions cannot help us; money and good works cannot do it; nothing in this world can do the job.

> Until Jesus, God’s Son came… then all thing is possible.

# It’s very possible for a worst and wretch sinner to reconcile to the perfectly holy God through the blood of Jesus Christ, poured down from the cross.

> Jesus’ love is bigger than our sins.

> What is impossible with man is possible with God… in Christ Jesus.

> It is very possible for you to become God’s children right at this moment, if you are willing to place your faith in Christ Jesus this morning.

How Big is Your God?

(Luke 18:26-27)

How big is your faith? The size of your faith depends on how big is the God you trust. Some people’s faith is still small, because they still have a limited concept of God, rather than knowing Who He really is. So, it is very important for us to have a correct view of God.

First, look up into heaven to see how big God is. Psalm 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” How big is heaven? This week in Vacation Bible School, children have learned how big the heaven is. Let’s review some facts: What is a galaxy? A star system including a sun with many planets rotating around it. Astronomers believe that there are millions of these galaxies (star systems) are out in the space. Our galaxy has the name of Milky Way including a total of 8 planets. The earth is the third planet from the sun. Our galaxy travel in space at a speed of about 1,200,000 mph. At the same time, the earth rotates around its axis at a speed of 1,040 mph. Do you know the approximate temperature of the sun? It is 27,000,000 degree F. versus our body temperature of ~98.6. Since the speed of light is 186,282 miles/sec, it would take about 8.3 minutes for light from the sun to reach earth’s surface. Who created these in perfect order, so our life can be maintained? Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God is the great Creator of all things. The creation is liked a “telescope” for us to see that God exists and How Great Thou Art! We must have a correct view of God as a great Creator of all.

Secondly, look into the Bible to see how glorious and holy God is. A recorded event when Moses went up to the mountain to meet God and received the 10 commandments in Exodus 19:9-19 shows that God is not just big, but He is perfectly holy, no human can come near Him, directly meet Him without the “consecration.” It is impossible for human as sinners to approach God directly. Another recorded event was of Elijah facing more than 850 Baal idol priests on a mountain as recorded in 1 Kings 18:16-40 shows that Jehovah is the true, powerful and living God, greater than all dumb idols.

Thirdly, look into Jesus, His Son to know that God is loving and about the only way we can approach God. Hebrews 1:1-3 said – “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
