I. Concept of Heaven & Hell
[PP] > Most people have a clear perception of what’s wrong and right, what’s good and evil; So, most people easily accept the ideas of heaven/paradise and hell beyond this life. (Hầu hết thiên hạ ai cũng ý thức được thế nào là sai hay đúng, hay là thiện và ác; cho nên hầu hết mọi người đều đồng ý có thiên đàng và điạ ngục sau cõi đời này.)
> However, the difference is in the understanding of how a person can enter heaven and escape hell. (Sự khác biệt chỉ là đối tượng và làm thế nào để một người có thể vào được thiên đàng mà tránh khỏi địa ngục.)
> For that reason, there are many “man-made” religions in this world, trying to guide/show people on how to get to heaven. (Vì sự khác biệt này, mà thế giới ngày nay thiên hạ có biết bao nhiêu là những tôn giáo với mục đích giải bảy cho thiên hạ biết làm thế nào để vào được nước thiên đàng.)
> When Jesus came into this world, His main message was to preach about the kingdom of heaven. (Khi Chúa Giê-xu đến thế gian, sứ điệp chính của Ngài là giảng dạy về nước thiên đàng của Đức Chúa Trời.)
a) But His teachings about heaven were unique, because they don’t come from men below, but from God above. (Nhưng sự giảng dạy của Ngài là đặc biệt và duy nhất, lý do là vì không đến từ loài người ở dưới đất, nhưng từ Chúa Chí Cao ở trên.)
> In the last week sermon, I hope that I already convinced you with the holy scriptures that Jesus is God, as He demonstrated His power through 34 miracles recorded in the Bible while He was on earth, His death on the cross to purchase our sins, and His glorious resurrection. (Hy vọng bài giảng tuần vừa rồi đã thuyết phục quí vị hiểu Chúa Giê-xu là Đức Chúa Trời, bày tỏ quyền năng của Ngài qua 34 phép lạ ghi chép trong Kinh Thánh, sự chết của Chúa trên thập tự xóa sạch tội lỗi c/ta, và sự sống lại vinh hiển của Ngài.)
> So, if Jesus is God – Who is in Genesis 1:1 said – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” then would His teachings about heaven are valid and justifiable? (Nếu Chúa Giê-xu là Đức Chúa Trời, y như trong Sáng Thế Ký 1:1 có chép – “Ban đầu Đức Chúa Trời dựng nên trời đất,” thì lời dạy dỗ của Ngài về thiên đàng phải có gía trị, là lẽ thật và hợp lệ, phải không?)
[PP] b) Also, the validation of His teachings indirectly determines that all other ways that teach how a person can enter the heaven are false. (Cùng một lúc, lời dạy dỗ xác thực tuyệt đối của Chúa gián tiếp nói rằng mọi con đường khác người ta dạy làm sao vào được thiên đàng là đều sai lạc hết.)
# John 14:6 – Jesus once claimed – “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” no one enters heaven except through Jesus alone; there is no other doors. (Chính Chúa Giê-xu đã tuyên bố con đường cứu rỗi như sau: “Ta là đường đi, lẽ thật, và sự sống; chẳng bởi ta thì không ai được đến cùng Cha,” chẳng còn cánh cửa nào cho một người vào được nước thiên đàng nếu không qua Ngài.)
[PP] c) But the most unique truth about Jesus’ teachings on heaven was that it is not a theory, but He provided an undisputable way freely for anyone wants to enter heaven, and that was His death on the cross to make atonement for sinners, so that we can become God’s children who have the right to inherit their Father’s kingdom of heaven. (Nhưng điều hợp lý nhất của lời dạy dỗ của Chúa đó là không phải là một lý thuyết, nhưng Ngài đã cung cấp một con đường rõ rệt thực tế cho bất cứu ai muốn, đó chính là thập tự gía là nơi Chúa đã chết chuộc tội cho mọi kẻ tin, ban cho tội nhân quyền phép trở nên làm con cái Đức Chúa Trời mà hưởng nước của Ngài một ngày.)
> His way is not an abstract, neither an illusion that we cannot reach, but just simply believing in what He already did for you and me on the cross. (Đường lối cứu chuộc của Chúa Giê-xu không phải là một lý thuyết mơ hồ, hay một ảo ảnh không thể đến được, nhưng rất đơn sơ đó là chỉ bởi tin nhận Ngài là Đấng đã cung cấp sự cứu chuộc sẵn cho tôi và bạn ở trên thập tự gía.)
II. Characters in the Parable of Weeds and Wheat
> One of excellent ways Jesus taught about the kingdom of heaven was using parables. (Một trong những phương pháp hay Chúa Giê-xu dùng dạy dỗ về nước thiên đàng là cách Ngài sử dụng những ẩn dụ.)
# A parable is an ordinary life event which is used to teach a spiritual truth. (Ẩn dụ là những thí dụ dễ hiểu của những sự kiện thông thường trong cuộc sống mỗi ngày để dạy dỗ giáo lý của đạo.)
# In vs. 10-11 - The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” 11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets (mysteries) of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you…” (Trong c. 10-11 – Chúa Giê-xu trả lời lý do Ngài dung ẩn dụ để đám đông hiểu được “những điều mầu nhiệm của nước thiên đàng,” trong đó có chương trình cứu chuộc của Đức Chúa Trời và Đấng Cứu Chuộc.)
[PP] > The Bible recorded about 48 parables Jesus used, and most of them were used to teach about kingdom of heaven. (Kinh Thánh chép lại tất cả khoãng 48 ẩn dụ Chúa dùng, hầu hết là với mục đích giải thích về nước thiên đàng.)
> Just in the Gospel Matthew chapter 13, you can find 5 to 6 parables begin with the phrase – “The kingdom of heaven is like…” (Như trong Tin Lành Mathiơ đoạn 13 này, đã có 5-6 ẩn dụ bắt đầu bằng những chữ như sau: “Nước thiên đàng giống như…”)
“Đức Chúa Jêsus phán ví dụ khác cùng chúng rằng: Nước thiên đàng giống như người kia gieo giống tốt trong (đồng) ruộng mình. 25 Nhưng đang khi người ta ngủ, thì kẻ thù chủ ruộng liền đến, gieo cỏ lùng vào trong lúa mì, rồi đi. 26 Đến khi lúa mì lớn lên, và trổ bông, thì cỏ lùng cũng lòi ra. 27 Các đầy tớ của chủ nhà bèn đến thưa rằng: Thưa chủ, chủ không gieo giống tốt trong ruộng chủ sao? Vậy thì cỏ lùng bởi đâu mà ra? 28 Chủ đáp rằng: Ấy là một kẻ thù đã làm điều đó. Các đầy tớ thưa rằng: Vậy chủ có muốn chúng tôi đi nhổ cỏ đó chăng? 29 Chủ rằng: Chẳng nên, e khi nhổ cỏ lùng, hoặc các ngươi nhổ lộn (nhổ lầm) lúa mì đi chăng. 30 Hãy để cho cả hai thứ cùng lớn lên cho đến mùa gặt; đến mùa gặt, ta sẽ dặn con gặt rằng: trước hết hãy nhổ cỏ lùng, bó lại từng bó mà đốt đi; song hãy thâu trữ lúa mì vào kho ta.”
(24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”)
[PP] > When you read and want to understand the spiritual meaning of the parables, the first thing you need to do is to understand what are all the characters that Jesus used in His parables representing. (Điều đầu tiên để hiểu ý nghĩa của những ẩn dụ, bạn phải nhận diện ra những nhân vật Chúa dùng nghĩa là gì, biểu hiệu cho những ai.)
> So, what are the characters in the agricultural “wheat and weeds” parable which relates to planting, growing, and harvesting? (Như vậy trong ẩn dụ “cỏ lùng và lúa mì” này liên hệ đến nông nghiệp cho sự trồng tỉa và gặt hái, có những nhân vật nào?)
# v. 24 – “a man” here represents Jesus Himself, Who was the sower of the good seed. (Trong c. 24 - “người kia” đây chính là Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, Đấng làm Chủ đồng ruộng mình, Chúa của muôn loài, là người gieo giống tốt.)
# The “good seed” represented “the Gospel, the Goodnews of salvation” that Jesus came and brought into the world. (Hạt giống tốt chính là Tin Lành mà Chúa Giê-xu đến bày tỏ cho mọi người.)
# The “field” in this parable was the world – everyone in it, and NOT the church. (“Đồng ruộng” là mọi người trong thế gian này, không phải là Hội Thánh vô hình của Chúa.)
# v. 25 – “Wheat” represents the sons and daughters of the kingdom, the saints – those have accepted the “good seed” by believing in Jesus’ name, while the “weeds” stand for the devil’s children – those reject the free gift of salvation. (Trong c. 25 - “lúa mì” biểu hiệu cho con cái thật của Chúa, là những người sau khi nghe đến Tin Lành đã ăn năn tội, tiếp nhận Ngài làm Cứu Chúa của mình và đi theo Chúa. “Cỏ lùng” là con cái của ma quỉ, những người từ chối ơn cứu rỗi, và có thể ở trong thành phần của những người đang chống nghịch lại đạo.)
# The “enemy” in v. 25 is the sower of the bad seed, representing satan and the devil. (Chữ “kẻ thù” trong c. 25 chính là ma quỉ và satan, luôn như sư tử rống rình mò khi người ta ngủ thì đến gieo cỏ lùng, để cảm dỗ mọi người từ chối con đường tin nhận Chúa Cứu Thế.)
# v. 30 – The “harvest” was the judgment time at the end of the age. (Trong c. 30 - “mùa gặt” là ngày tận thế, lúc phán xét cuối cùng.)
# The “reapers” will be the angels that Jesus “will send (down) with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other,” as written in Matthew 24:31. (Chữ “con gặt” trong c. 30 là những thiên sứ của Chúa, sẽ sai đến trong ngày phán xét “dùng tiếng kèn rất lớn mà nhóm lại những kẻ đã được lựa chọn của Ngài ở khắp bốn phương, từ cuối phương trời nầy cho đến tận phương kia,” như có chép trong Mathiơ 24:31.)
# The description of “to be burned” in v. 30 represents hell – the eternal lake of fire. (Chữ “đốt đi” nói đến địa ngục có hồ lửa cháy không hề tắt.)
# And of course, the phrase “bring into the barn” means to enter the kingdom of heaven. (Và đương nhiên, từ ngữ “thâu trữ vào kho” mang ý nghĩa của sự vào nước thiên đàng.)
III. What are the Meanings of the Parable?
> What are the meanings of this parable that Jesus wanted to teach about heaven? (Ý nghĩa của ẩn dụ này là gì mà Chúa Giê-xu muốn dạy dỗ những lẽ thật về nước thiên đàng?)
[PP] 1) First, although God loves the whole world, but heaven does not include everybody on this earth. (Thứ nhất, Chúa yêu thương mọi người, nhưng không phải ai cũng vào được nước thiên đàng.)
> v. 30 - Jesus clearly said that only the wheat is gathered and brought into the barn. (Trong câu 30 rõ ràng Chúa Giê-xu nói chỉ có “lúa mì” mới được “thâu trữ vào kho.”)
> But then what happens to the weeds? (Còn cỏ lùng thì sao?)
# They are collected in bundles and to be burned up. (Nó bị bó lại từng bó mà đem đi đốt mất.)
> God’s kingdom is not the world and everyone in it, not even all the visible in organized churches. (Nước thiên đàng không có bao gồm cả thế gian, kể cả không phải là những Hội Thánh hữu hình.)
# Not everyone walks through the door of the church and have their names on the church rolls will enter heaven. (Không phải bất cứ ai bước qua cánh cửa của nhà thờ, có tên trong danh sách của hội là sẽ được vào nước thiên đàng đâu.)
# You see big churches on TV, over 20,000 people sitting in a stadium – don’t get fooled that all those people are wheat, saints of God. (Có khi c/ta thấy trên TV, có những chỗ nhóm trong những vận động trường đến trên 20,000 người, nhưng không có nghĩa là hết thảy đều là lúa mì, người thánh trong Chúa.)
> People usually have a common thought that God is loving; So, no one will end up in hell; (Thiên hạ hay có sự suy nghĩ – Chúa là Đấng nhân từ và yêu thương, cho nên sẽ không quăng ai xuống địa ngục đâu. Ngài đâu nỡ làm điều này?)
> They continue to reason that it doesn’t matter how bad you are, God will weight some of your good deeds, and soon or later “everyone will go to heaven.” (Và với sự lý luận như vậy, họ tự nghĩ dù cho mình có xấu xa nhiều tội đến đâu đi nữa, thì sẽ có lúc Đức Chúa Trời coi lại một chút những việc lành mình đã làm, và rồi mọi người sẽ tự động được vào thiên đàng mà thôi.)
# They follow the human concept that “all roads will soon lead everybody home!” (Họ đi theo lý thuyết của con người – “Mọi lối rồi cũng sẽ dẫn mọi người về thiên quốc.”)
> This is a lie from the devil, from the sower of the bad seed, who is blinding a lot of people to just say to themselves - “don’t worry, be happy, just eat, drink, party and everything will be fine; you may not be the first to enter heaven, but soon or later you will be in there.” (Đây là sự dối trá của ma quỉ là kẻ gieo giống chết, làm mù lòng nhiều người cứ nói: “Thôi thì hãy cứ ăn, uống, hưởng thụ và cưới gả đi; nếu tôi không là người đầu tiên vào được thiên đàng thì thế nào sau này cũng đến đó mà thôi, lo chi?”)
> Satan doesn’t want you to know the truth about hell, the lake of fire that is never quenched. (Quỉ satan muốn mọi người cứ có sự suy nghĩ như vậy, không nhận ra địa ngục có lửa cháy không hể tắt.)
[PP] 2) Secondly, be aware of the enemies who will come and offer you many other ways; They are sounded really good and religious – in the name of charity, but the end of them is destruction, and not heaven. (Chúa Giê-xu muốn dạy c/ta phải coi chừng những kẻ thù đang len lỏi, mời mọc c/ta vào những con đường, dường như nghe và thấy có lý lắm, với danh xưng là đạo đức, nhưng chỉ là những lối dẫn đến sự chết đời đời.)
# Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” (Kinh Thánh Châm Ngôn 14:12 chép – “Có một con đường coi dường chánh đáng cho loài người; Nhưng đến cuối cùng nó thành ra nẻo sự chết.”)
# Have you gone to a studio to take your family picture? You can choose different backgrounds, but they are just pictures; they are not real; satan sets up many “nice pictures,” but behind them is the lake of fire, eternal hell.
> Many cults offer things that “suit many people’s own desires; so, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths,” as said in 2 Timothy 4:3-4. (Nhiều tà giáo đang tung ra những thuyết lý thần thoại hấp dẫn và lạ kỳ “nghe êm tai, vì theo tư dục của nhiều người, và rồi họ bịt tai không nghe lẽ thật, chỉ xây hướng về những chuyện huyễn.”)
# The devil doesn’t come out with a man wearing red suit, having 2 horns on his head, and holding a fork, but the angel of light, who offers many appealing philosophies, myths, and religious systems of doing good works to be saved, so that you can do them and be prideful of yourself, and not need God. (Kinh Thánh nói quỉ satan nó sẽ không hiện ra mặc bộ đồ đỏ, với 2 cái sừng trên đầu, cần cái nĩa, nhưng là “thiên sứ của sự sáng láng,” trưng bày những thuyết lý, hệ thống tôn giáo làm nhiều việc lành, mà bạn có thể làm được, để rồi bạn hãnh diện, tự mãn, lên mình kiêu ngạo như satan ngày xưa, mà không cần Chúa cứu mình nữa.)
> To understand how a person can enter heaven, you must be aware/recognize of the spiritual battle, happening right now to avoid going wrong ways? (Để hiểu thể nào một người được vào nước thiên đàng, bạn phải canh chừng và nhận diện ra thế giới chiến tranh thuộc linh này, để khỏi đi vào những con đường sai lầm dẫn đến sự chết.)
# During the Summer camp, I had an opportunity to train the youths on how to overcome temptations, and the first thing I help the youths to recognize is our enemy - satan, who comes to sow bad seeds in the heart of men and lead them to perish.
> Without recognizing him, many people are walking on the wrong paths that lead to destruction, and not even know it.
> Many people thought that they will receive heaven, but ending up in the lake of fire, because they did not recognize the enemy who opposes God, hates everything about God, and is sowing bad seeds. (Họ cứ tưởng mình sẽ đến barađi, nào ngờ xuống hồ lửa địa ngục, bởi vì họ không nhận diện ra kẻ thù là ma quỉ, luôn chống nghịch lại Chúa và tìm mọi cách để len lỏi xen vào, gieo giống xấu.)
[PP] 3) Thirdly, God is patient with the world, the wicked to repent, and not rush “pulling up” the weeds. (Chúa là Đấng kiên nhẫn với thế gian để cho những kẻ ác ăn năn mà được cứu, Ngài không vội vã nhổ cỏ lùng đâu.)
> Sometimes, we see wickedness and wicked people prosper/succeed, and we wonder if God is omniscient then why He didn’t get rid all of them instantly by His command? (Có bao giờ bạn suy nghĩ tại sao những kẻ ác vẫn còn tồn tại, nếu Chúa là Đấng quyền năng?)
# Why didn’t God cause those 911 suicide bombers to be in a car crash before they could be on the way to the airport?
> Why evils keep on prosperous and succeeded? If God is so powerful then why He doesn’t take them out yet? (Nếu Chúa là Đấng quyền năng sao Ngài chưa nhổ họ đi?)
> Sometimes, we doubt that why God is so slow in revealing His righteousness, but 2 Peter 3:9 said – “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (Nhiều khi c/ta nghi ngờ tại sao Chúa chậm trẽ vậy, nhưng Kinh Thánh chép – “Chúa không chậm trễ về lời hứa của Ngài như mấy người kia tưởng đâu, nhưng Ngài lấy lòng nhịn nhục đối với anh em, không muốn cho một người nào chết mất, song muốn cho mọi người đều ăn năn.”)
> That is what happened to the owner’s servants in the parable, when they saw weeds growing in the field among the wheat, and wanted to pull them up. (C/ta giống như các đầy tớ trong ẩn dụ, chỉ muốn nhổ cỏ lùng ngay cho xong chuyện.)
# I am thankful for God’s patient, because if God decides to “pull all the weeds up” before December 1981, then I would be eternally in hell now. If God decides to come back before April 1975, then many of you end up in the lake of fire now? (Tôi cảm tạ Chúa cho sự kiên nhẫn của Ngài, vì nếu Chúa nhổ cỏ lùng trước tháng 12 năm 1981 thì nay tôi ở trong địa ngục đời đời rồi. Nếu Chúa định nhổ cỏ lùng trước biến cố 30/4/1975 thì một số đông quí vị ở đây đã ở với tôi trong hồ lửa rồi?)
> God is patient, He has His own perfect timing; So, we should not rush him, because some people (could be our love ones) may not have a chance to hear the Gospel and be saved. (Chúa là Đấng kiên nhẫn; Ngài có thời điểm riêng của Mình; cho nên c/ta không được phép nghi ngờ hay hối Chúa, bởi vì nhiều người khác (có thể là những người thân yêu của c/ta) còn được nghe Tin Lành mà đươc cứu?)
[PP] 4) Fourthly, God is patient, but there will be a day His patience runs out, and here comes the judgment day. (Tuy Chúa là Đấng kiên nhẫn, nhưng trong ẩn dụ này nói chắc chắn có ngày phán xét cuối cùng sẽ đến.)
# Hebrews 9:27 tells us that "it is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment." (Trong Hêbêrơ 9:27 có chép rõ một lẽ thật – “Theo như đã định cho loài người phải chết một lần, rồi chịu phán xét,”)
> When you think of the word “judgment,” this parable helps us to understand the word “separation,” just as the Master will separate the wheat out of the weeds on the last days. (Khi bạn đọc Kinh Thánh mà thấy chữ “phán xét” thì hay nghĩ ngay đến chữ “phân chia ra,” như người chủ vườn chia lúa mì ra khỏi cỏ lùng trong mùa gặt vậy.)
# Would a picture of a sickle that a farmer uses to separate the wheat and tares helps you to understand, as described in Revelation 14:14-16 – “And I (John) looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.” (Không biết hình ảnh của con dao lưỡi liềm giúp cho bạn hiểu thêm không như có chép trong Khải Huyền 14 – “Tôi (sứ đồ Giăng) nhìn xem, thấy một đám mây trắng; có kẻ giống như một con người ngồi trên mây, đầu đội mão triều thiên vàng, tay cầm lưỡi liềm bén. 15 Có một thiên sứ khác ở đền thờ đi ra, cất tiếng lớn kêu Đấng ngồi trên mây rằng: Hãy quăng lưỡi liềm xuống và gặt đi; vì giờ gặt hái đã đến, mùa màng dưới đất đã chín rồi. 16 Đấng ngồi trên mây bèn quăng lưỡi liềm mình xuống đất, và dưới đất đều bị gặt.”)
[PP] a) Nobody really knows the harvest time, only God. (Không ai biết khi nào là mùa gặt, chỉ có người Chủ gặt mà thôi.)
# Matthew 24:36-37 – “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” (Chính Chúa Giê-xu phán gì trong Mathiơ 24 – “Về ngày và giờ đó, chẳng có ai biết chi cả, thiên sứ trên trời hay là Con cũng vậy, song chỉ một mình Cha biết mà thôi. 37 Trong đời Nô-ê thể nào, khi Con người đến cũng thể ấy. 38 Vì trong những ngày trước nước lụt, người ta ăn, uống, cưới, gả như thường cho đến ngày Nô-ê vào tàu, 39 và người ta không ngờ chi hết cho đến khi nước lụt tới mà đùa đem đi hết thảy, khi Con người đến cũng như vậy.”)
> What “day and hour” that Jesus spoke here? (“Ngày và giờ” gì đây?)
# The time Jesus will return to gather His wheat, and to judge the weeds. (Lúc thời điểm Chúa Giê-xu sẽ trở lại để thâu trữ lúa mì của mình, và đốt cỏ lùng.)
> Jesus used a historical event during Noah time, when people were eating, drinking, and giving marriage, then the flood came suddenly. (Chúa Giê-xu dùng sự kiện lịch sử thời ông Nô-e, khi người ta ăn, uống, cưới gả, và rồi trận lụt đại hồng thủy đến bất ngờ.)
# For today, a good example would be the sudden flood happened in Southern Louisiana last August; If VHBC knew ahead of the flood, we would already buy flood insurance for the church, so we would not have to spend 150k$ out of our pocket to repair our buildings?
> The harvest time can come as a surprise to many people. (Mùa gặt có thể đến bất thình lình cho bất cứ ai trong c/ta.)

b) Only God knows exactly who are the wheat, and who are not; we don’t. (Không phải biết mùa gặt khi nào đến mà thôi, nhưng Chúa còn biết rõ ai là lúa mì, ai là cỏ lùng, mà c/ta không biết.)
> This parable teaches that wheat and weeds are interweave together and sometimes it is very difficult for us to recognize. (Cỏ lùng và lúa mì sống trà trộn với nhau, mà nhiều khi nhìn bên ngoài khó biết được.)
> Their roots are entangled, and the same is true of good and evil in our world today.
> We know this because Jesus once said in Matthew 7:15 – “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Chúa Giê-xu đã dạy gì trong Mathiơ 7 – “Hãy coi chừng tiên tri giả, là những kẻ mang lốt chiên đến cùng các ngươi, song bề trong thật là muông sói hay cắn xé.”)
> Not all the people sitting on the church pews are true sheep. (Không phải ai ngồi trên những bục ghế, hay đứng trên những bục giảng đều là chiên của Chúa.)
# Sometimes we look at a person, all the good, religious and amazing things they are doing, and we may think that they are God’s saints, then “surprised!” when Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23 - “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. > We don’t really know because we only can see from the outside, but Acts 15:8 said “God, who knows the heart,” so, He knows who are the wheat or weeds. (C/ta không thể thật biết được bởi vì c/ta chỉ có thể nhìn bề ngoài, nhưng trong Công Vụ 15 chép – “Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng biết lòng người,” cho nên Ngài biết rõ ai là lúa mì và ai là cỏ lùng.)
IV. Are You Wheat or Weed?
[PP] > So, how do the teachings of Jesus on heaven in this parable help you? (Ẩn dụ này của Chúa Giê-xu đã giúp chi cho bạn?)
1) You need to make sure that you are the wheat, and not weeds; because the coming of the final judgment/separation at the end times. (Bạn phải biết chắc rằng mình là lúa mì, vì chắc chắn sẽ có ngày phán xét đến.)
> You may ask how can I become the “wheat?” (Có thể bạn đang suy nghĩ làm sao đây?)
> Make sure that you become wheat, not according to man philosophies, but the words of God. (Bạn phải ngừng nghe theo những thuyết lý của loài người, nhưng theo lẽ thật của lời Chúa.)
a) Mark 1:16 said - “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Trong sách Mác 1 có nói: “Kỳ đã trọn, nước Đức Chúa Trời đã đến gần; các ngươi hãy ăn năn và tin đạo Tin Lành.”)
> What does repentance mean? (Ăn năn nghĩa là sao?)
# It means that you recognize and admit that you are on a wrong path that leads to eternal destruction and you need to turn back, “change lane” toward God. (Nghĩa là nhận thức mình đang đi lạc đường dẫn đến chỗ hư mất, mình cần phải quay lại, chọn đi con đường của Chúa.)
# We were born with our back to God, and when we repent, we turn around and face toward God.
> You must repent of your sins. (C/ta phải biết ăn năn và xưng tội lỗi mình ra với Chúa.)
b) You must call upon Jesus Who died on the cross for your sin to save you. (Sau đó bạn phải kêu cầu Chúa Giê-xu cứu chính mình.)
# Romans 10:13 – “for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jesus) will be saved.” (Trong sách Rôma 10:13 có chép – “Vì ai kêu cầu danh Chúa thì sẽ được cứu.”)
> This means you accept that by only Jesus’ blood your sins are forgiven, and by believing in Him you have the power to become a God’s child. (Đây có nghĩa là bạn chấp nhận chỉ có huyết của Chúa Giê-xu tha sạch tội lỗi của mình, và bởi tin cậy nơi Ngài mà bạn có quyền phép thay đổi từ chỗ đứng của một kẻ tội nhân trở nên con cái của Đức Chúa Trời.)
> Without this, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven one day. (Nếu không được biến hóa như vậy thì bạn không thể nào vào được nước thiên đàng.)
[PP] 2) And if you are already “wheat,” as a Christian, you need to be diligent in the works of sowing good seeds, and not busy sitting there to judge who are weeds, and who are wheat. (Nếu bạn đã là “lúa mì” của Chúa, thì bạn hãy trung tín trong việc gieo giống tốt, chứ không cần lo bận rộn đoán xét coi xem ai là lúa mì và ai là cỏ lùng.)
# My business is not “pulling weeds,” but preaching the Gospel by sowing the good seeds. (Công việc của tôi không phải là nhổ cỏ lùng, nhưng giảng đạo.)
# My job is not to listen to the sower of the bad seeds, but to commit spreading good seed, the Goodnews, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Công việc của tôi không có nghe theo những kẻ gieo giống xấu, nhưng hết sức trong việc gieo giống tốt của Chúa Giê-xu khắp nơi.)
# My duty as wheat of God is to obey His teachings in the Bible, and not the words of men. (Trách nhiệm của tôi là lúa mì của Chúa, là vâng theo những lời dạy dỗ của Chúa Giê-xu, chứ không phải nghe theo lời của người ta.)

> Every time we gather here and the word is preached; but it will require a response. (Mỗi khi c/ta đến đây nhóm, lời Chúa giảng đều sẽ đòi hỏi sự đáp ứng lại.)
1) If you are not a believer yet, Jesus’ parable of the wheat and weeds should urge you to make a decision of trusting Jesus; so you can be sure that you can enter the kingdom of heaven on the day He will come back to judge the world. (Nếu bạn chưa tin Chúa, mong ẩn dụ “cỏ lùng và lúa mì” cảm động và thôi thúc bạn mau tin nhận Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, để bạn có sự bảo đảm trong ngày sau rốt được vào nước thiên đàng, mà không bị đoán xét.)
> Don’t delay because no one knows the harvest time. (Đừng trễ nãi nữa.)
> Don’t listen to the devil and keep on procrastinating your commitment to believe in Jesus. (Đừng nghe theo ma quỉ mà chờ đợi mãi, nhưng hãy quyết định tin nhận Chúa Giê-xu ngay hôm nay.)
2) If you are already a believer, this parable should encourage us to be faithfull in the works of sowing good seeds when we still have time, because when the “night come,” when Jesus returns, we will have no more chance to tell our loved ones the true way to God’s kingdom of heaven. (Nếu bạn đã là con cái Chúa rồi thì ẩn dụ này mong khích lệ quí vị sốt sắng hơn trong việc gieo giống tốt, làm chứng Tin Lành khi c/ta còn có cơ hội, vì khi đêm đến, là lúc Chúa Giê-xu trở lại, c/ta không còn cơ hội nữa.)
[PP] > Please don’t waste this opportunity, make your decision to believe in Jesus today. (Đừng phí phạn cơ hội ngày hôm nay, nhưng hãy quyết định tin theo Chúa đi.)
> Today is the day of salvation for you. (Hôm nay là ngày cứu rỗi cho bạn!)
> May “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” Amen! (Nguyện xin “nước thiên đàng của Chúa được mau đến, và ý Ngài được nên ở đất như trời!”)

> Ask yourself seriously - “Am I wheat, or a tare/weed?”
# Are you truly saved by calling upon the name of Jesus, or just by an emotional experience following the crowd?
# Maybe you once shed some tears of shame and regret, maybe you were terrified of dying and going to hell, but never admitting that you are a sinner ready to go straight to hell?
> Maybe you were once baptized, but never understood that means to die with Christ and to live a new life in Christ?
> You need to repent of your sins and call upon Jesus name.
> You need to get rid the thought that “every religion are good; so, it doesn’t matter what you believe, all people will end up in heaven one day.” That is a straight lie from the devil.
> You need to stop walking on the path of good works to be saved, that just leads you to perish and destruction in the lake of fire, but choose to believe in Jesus today.
> God’s love to sow good seed – that is the Good news in His Son Jesus Christ so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
> God loves you and wants you to live in heaven with Him forver.
> Do you want to be the wheat for God, to be brought into God’s kingdom of heaven?
> Just come to Jesus, and say “Lord Jesus! Save me!”
Wheat or Weeds
Matthew 13:24-30
“Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”
Most people have a clear perception of what’s good & evil.
So, most people easily accept the ideas of heaven/paradise and hell beyond this life.
The difference is in the understanding of how a person can enter heaven and escape hell.
For that reason, there are many “man-made” religions in this world, trying to show people on how to get to heaven.
When Jesus came into this world, His main message was to preach about the kingdom of heaven.
But His teachings about heaven were unique, because they don’t come from men below, but from God above.
By the holy scriptures Jesus claimed to be God, as He demonstrated His power through 34 miracles recorded in the Bible.
So, if Jesus is God, in Whom “heavens and the earth” are created, then would His teachings about heaven are valid?
Also, the validation of His teachings indirectly determines that all other ways are false.
Jesus’ teachings on heaven are not just a theory, but He provided an undisputable way freely for anyone wants to enter heaven through His death on the cross.
One of excellent ways Jesus taught about the kingdom of heaven was using parables.
The Bible recorded about 48 parables Jesus used, and most of them were used to teach about kingdom of heaven.
When you read and want to understand the spiritual meaning of the parables, you need first understand what are all the characters that Jesus used in His parables representing.
What are the characters in the agricultural “wheat and weeds” parable?
# v. 24 – “a man” here represents Jesus Himself, Who was the sower of the good seed.
# The “good seed” represented “the Gospel, the Goodnews of salvation” that Jesus came and brought into the world.
# The “field” in this parable was the world – everyone in it, and NOT the church.
# v. 25 – “Wheat” represents the sons and daughters of the kingdom, the saints – those have accepted the “good seed” by believing in Jesus’ name, while the “weeds” stand for the devil’s children – those reject the free gift of salvation.
# The “enemy” in v. 25 is the sower of the bad seed, representing satan and the devil.
# v. 30 – The “harvest” was the judgment time at the end of the age.
# The “reapers” will be the angels that Jesus “will send (down) to gather his elect.”
# The description of “to be burned” represents hell – the eternal lake of fire.
# And of course, the phrase “bring into the barn” means to enter the kingdom of heaven.
What are the meanings of this parable that Jesus wanted to teach about heaven?
1) Although God loves the whole world, but heaven does not include everybody on this earth.
# In v. 30 - Jesus clearly said that only the wheat is gathered and brought into the barn.
But then what happens to the weeds? They are collected in bundles and to be burned up.
God’s kingdom is not the world and everyone in it, not even all the visible in organized churches.
People usually have a common thought that God is loving; So, no one will end up in hell;
They continue to reason that it doesn’t matter how bad you are, God will weight some of your good deeds, and soon or later “everyone will go to heaven.”
This is a lie from the devil, from the sower of the bad seed, who is blinding a lot of people.
2) Be aware of the enemies who will come and offer you many ways, which are sounded really religious, but the end of them is destruction, and not heaven.
The devil doesn’t come out with a man wearing red suit, having 2 horns on his head, and holding a fork, but the angel of light, who offers many appealing philosophies, myths, and religious systems of doing good works to be saved, so that you can do them and be self-prideful, and not need God.
3) God is patient with the world, and not rush “pulling up” the weeds.
Sometimes, we see wickedness and wicked people succeed, and we wonder if God is omniscient then why He didn’t get rid all of them instantly?
Sometimes, we doubt that why God is so slow in revealing His righteousness, but 2 Peter 3:9 said – “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
That is what happened to the owner’s servants in the parable, when they saw weeds growing in the field among the wheat, and wanted to pull them up.
God is patient, He has His own perfect timing; So, we should not rush him, because some people may not have a chance to hear the Gospel and be saved.
4) God is patient, but there will be a day His patience runs out, and here comes the judgment day.
When you think of the word “judgment,” this parable helps us to understand the word “separation,” just as the Master will separate the wheat out of the weeds on the last days.
Nobody really knows the harvest time, only God.
The harvest time can come as a surprise to many people.
Only God knows exactly who are the wheat, and who are not; we don’t.
So, how do the teachings of Jesus on heaven in this parable help you?
