Mathiơ 10:28-39
“Đừng sợ kẻ giết thân thể mà không giết được linh hồn; nhưng thà sợ Đấng làm cho mất được linh hồn và thân thể trong địa ngục. / 29 Hai con chim sẻ há chẳng từng bị bán một đồng tiền sao? Và ví không theo ý muốn Cha các ngươi, thì chẳng hề một con nào rơi xuống đất. 30 Tóc trên đầu các ngươi cũng đã đếm hết rồi. 31 Vậy, đừng sợ chi hết, vì các ngươi quí trọng hơn nhiều con chim sẻ. / 32 Bởi đó, ai xưng ta ra trước mặt thiên hạ, thì ta cũng sẽ xưng họ trước mặt Cha ta ở trên trời; 33 còn ai chối ta trước mặt thiên hạ, thì ta cũng sẽ chối họ trước mặt Cha ta ở trên trời. / 34 Chớ tưởng rằng ta đến để đem sự bình an cho thế gian; ta đến, không phải đem sự bình an, mà là đem gươm giáo. 35 Ta đến để phân rẽ con trai với cha, con gái với mẹ, dâu với bà gia; 36 và người ta sẽ có kẻ thù nghịch, là người nhà mình. 37 Ai yêu cha mẹ hơn ta thì không đáng cho ta; ai yêu con trai hay là con gái hơn ta thì cũng không đáng cho ta; 38 ai không vác cây thập tự mình mà theo ta, thì cũng chẳng đáng cho ta. 39 Ai gìn giữ sự sống mình, thì sẽ mất; còn ai vì cớ ta mất sự sống mình, thì sẽ tìm lại được."
(Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. / 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. / 32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. 34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her other-in-law—36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ 37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. / 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.)
I. Hard Sayings
> In the Bible, there are some hard sayings from the words of God. (Trong Kinh Thánh có những chỗ có lời dạy dỗ rất khó nghe và khó hiểu.)
> Why is it a hard saying? Because it does not fit the common sense of human thinking. (Lý do khó nghe là vì những sự dạy dỗ này không đi theo sự suy nghĩ bình thường của con người.)
> Chapter 10 of Matthew has some of the most difficult sayings of Jesus - “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her other-in-law—36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ 37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” (Trong Mathiơ 10, chứa đựng một số những điều khó nghe và khó hiểu từ Chúa Giê-xu – “Chớ tưởng rằng ta đến để đem sự bình an cho thế gian; ta đến, không phải đem sự bình an, mà là đem gươm giáo. 35 Ta đến để phân rẽ con trai với cha, con gái với mẹ, dâu với bà gia; 36 và người ta sẽ có kẻ thù nghịch, là người nhà mình. 37 Ai yêu cha mẹ hơn ta thì không đáng cho ta; ai yêu con trai hay là con gái hơn ta thì cũng không đáng cho ta; 38 ai không vác cây thập tự mình mà theo ta, thì cũng chẳng đáng cho ta. 39 Ai gìn giữ sự sống mình, thì sẽ mất; còn ai vì cớ ta mất sự sống mình, thì sẽ tìm lại được.")
> This is a hard saying, because Jesus said that when He comes - He would bring wars and not peace, family separations and not harmony; He calls us to carry the cross and lose our life? (Lời khó nghe là vì Chúa Giê-xu phán, khi Ngài đến sẽ đem chiến tranh thay vì hòa bình, mối chia rẽ trong gia đình thay vì sự hoà thuận; Ngài kêu gọi c/ta phải vác thập tự và sẵn sàng đánh mất mạng sống mình.)
> What kind of religion is this? Who would then want to follow Jesus? (Mới nghe như vậy thì có lẽ bạn thắc mắc - đạo chi dạy kỳ lạ vậy? Nếu khó khăn như vậy thì làm sao ai còn muốn theo Chúa Giê-xu nữa?)
# The common thinking demands that we must love our family; cherish peace, we must find best things for our life, not try to lose it? (Theo lẽ thông thường c/ta sống phải yêu thương, giữ sự hòa thuận trong gia đình, ấp ủ sự hòa bình, tìm mọi điều tốt đẹp nhất cho đời sống, chứ ai lại muốn đánh mất?)
> We will NOT understand Jesus’ hard teachings, until we have the clear discernment about the values of things. (C/ta sẽ không hiểu được lời dạy dỗ khó nghe này của Chúa Giê-xu cho đến khi nào c/ta phân biệt được gía trị của mọi thứ.)
> It’s a common sense for someone who is willing to give up something LESS valuable, in order to gain something else MORE valuable - Do you agree with me? (Lẽ tự nhiên ở đời này có vô số người bằng lòng hy sinh chịu đánh mất những điều có gía trị thấp, để thu nhận được những thứ khác, có gía trị quí hơn, phải không?)
> In fact, wise people do that all the times including you and me. (Đó chính là điều mà mọi người khôn ngoan đều muốn và thường làm.)
a) Soon after April 30, 1975, over 2 million of Vietnamese refugees were willing to lose their homes, their possessions, left their loved ones behind… to find freedom in other countries to start life again? (Tôi nhớ ngay sau 30/4/75, hơn 2 triệu người Việt đã bằng lòng mất nước, bỏ lại gia đình người thân và tài sản của mình đằng sau, liều mạng trên những chiếc thuyền nhỏ bé đi tìm tự do ở những nước khác?)
> It was a big cost, but many of them had no hesitation to do so, even risking their own life on those little boats, hoping for a better life? (Đây là cái gía rất đắt họ đã phải trả, mà không một chút do dự, vì là một sự chọn lựa đi tìm một đời sống tốt lành hơn.)
b) Today, many of us are willing to lose our sleep, the enjoyment of pleasures in order to wake up early everyday going to school or to work, so we can gain a degree, have a good job, and make a lot of money to meet our needs and wants? (Ngày hôm nay, biết bao nhiêu người trong vòng c/ta cũng chẳng màn hy sinh những giấc ngủ, hay thì giờ hưởng thụ những thú vui, để sẵn sàng thức dậy sớm mỗi ngày, đi học hay đi làm, để có một bằng cấp cao, nghề nghiệp tốt, kiếm được nhiều tiền hầu để đáp ứng được mọi nhu cầu cho đời sống mình.)
> We would not say that these people are crazy - right? because they accept some “lost,” in order for a better gain? (C/ta đâu có nói rằng họ là những người điên khùng, phải không? Bởi vì họ sẵn sàng đánh mất những điều có gía trị thấp, để gặt hái được một lợi lộc tốt hơn.)
> You would not understand Jesus’ hard sayings, until you have a discernment of what you will loose on this earth, for what you will gain eternally in heaven. (Bạn cũng sẽ không thể hiểu được những lời nói khó nghe của Chúa Giê-xu, cho đến khi nào bạn có sự phân biệt điều bạn phải đánh mất trên đất này, để lấy được những điều quí báu hơn ở trên trời có gía trị trường tồn.)
II. Losing this Life
> First, what does “losing of this life” mean? (Thứ nhất, “mất sự sống mình” nghĩa là sao?)
> Jesus gave a vivid illustration of “losing this life” is a picture of someone carrying his cross. (Chúa Giê-xu cho c/ta thấy rõ một hình ảnh của người bằng lòng “đánh mất sự sống mình” là một người đang vác một thập tự gía.)
# What? Carrying a cross and following Jesus - this is not what I signed up for? (Có thể bạn tự nghĩ – “vác thập tự” à, tôi đâu có bao giờ ghi danh làm điều này đâu?)
> We are by nature comfort seekers, not cross bearers? (Cá tánh tự nhiên của mỗi người c/ta là đi tìm một đời sống thoải mái, sung sướng trong cuộc sống, chứ ai nào muốn vác thập tự?)
> The cross is a symbol of death and suffering, not a comfortable lifestyle. (Thập tự gía là hình ảnh biểu tượng cho sự chết và đau khổ, không phải là một cuộc sống an nhàn hay thoải mái.)
1) All who believe in Jesus willing to carry a cross must readily accept an un-comfortable life, that could be caused by the world persecutions around. (Tất cả những ai đã thật sự tin Chúa thì phải sẵn sàng chấp nhận một cuộc sống khổ sở và khó chịu, vì phải đối diện với sự bắt bớ xung quanh của thế gian này.)
> And Jesus explained here that often these persecutions come from our loved ones, our own family and relatives, because the choice we place Him first place in our life. (Và Chúa Giê-xu giải thích ở đây sự bắt bớ đó có khi đến từ ngay trong gia đình mình, trong vòng những người thân, là bởi vì c/ta nay đã đặt Chúa Giê-xu làm Chủ và Chúa, số một trong đời sống của mình, trên mọi người khác, kể cả cha mẹ mình.)
# I am sure some of you have experienced this type of persecutions after making a decision to trust Jesus? Your family rejected you, your community ridiculed and made funs at you, your co-workers laughed at your back, your boy or girl friends mocked at you, told you all kinds of weird names, and broke up with you? (Tôi tin chắc rằng một số ACE ở đây đã kinh nghiệm sự khổ cực này, sau khi tin nhận Chúa Giê-xu? Gia đình đã từ bỏ mình, nhóm dân tộc mình chế nhạo mình, những người cùng sở làm chọc cười mình, có thể bạn trai hay bạn gái chế giễu và từ bỏ mình nữa?)
> In Luke 14:26 – Luke recorded a stronger word from Jesus - “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.” (Trong Luca 14, C/ta thấy Chúa Giê-xu dùng chữ nặng hơn để hiểu thế nào là khi c/ta đặt Ngài ưu tiên trong đời sống mình – “Nếu có ai đến theo ta mà không ghét cha mẹ, vợ con, anh em, chị em mình, và chính sự sống mình nữa, thì không được làm môn đồ ta.”)
> You cannot love Jesus more, if you do not hate others, in the sense of willing to place Jesus the first place in your life, above everything and everyone else. (C/ta không thể yêu Chúa Giê-xu hơn nghĩa là c/ta phải bằng lòng ghét những người khác, trong ý nghĩa đặt Ngài chỗ đứng ưu tiên trên tất cả mọi người khác.)
> This is the cost we must pay and the suffering we must endure, as we make a choice to carry our cross and to follow Jesus Christ. (Đây là gía c/ta phải trả, sự khổ cực c/ta phải chịu, khi mình thật sự trung tín vác thập tự gía của mình mà bước đi theo Chúa Giê-xu.)
> There is no comfortable way to carry the cross, because you cannot carry a real cross without suffering. (Không có một cách nào để c/ta có thể vác thập tự gía thoải mái được hết.)
2) Carrying the cross can also mean putting away our flesh desires that lead to perish and destructions; but pursue, understand and obey God’s will for our life. (Vác thập tự cũng có nghĩa là bằng lòng từ bỏ những đòi hỏi tham mê của xác thịt, dẫn đến sự hư mất phần tâm linh, nhưng hiểu rõ ý muốn của Chúa cho mình là gì, mà sống vâng lời làm theo.)
> Carrying a cross is a choice of willingness to die for Jesus daily, and not living a life “as I please.” (Vác thập tự là một quyết định dứt khoát làm chết đi phần tư dục xác thịt, chứ không có sống chiều theo những điều xác thịt dòi hỏi.)
> Carrying the cross is a total surrender life. (Vác thập tự là một đời sống tận hiến hoàn toàn.)
# The famous Alexander the Great - was a king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon.
> He created one of the largest empires of the ancient world by the age of 30, stretching from Greece to northwestern India. He was undefeated in battle and is widely considered one of history's most successful military commanders.
> His army was totally surrendered to his leadership.
> A story one time Alexander surrounded a city and commanded it to surrender or death to all people in that city would surely come.
> Surroungding the castle was a huge ditch that no army was ever able to cross entering the castle.
> The king of that city was hesitated to surrender.
> Alexander got his army standing in line facing the castle and gave the order - for everytime he lifted his hand up, one of his soldiers would run straight toward the castle, fell into the ditch and died.
> For a while, many soldiers obeyed Alexander’s command without any hesitation; then the king in the city realized that if an army has such total loyalty and surrender to their general, he has no chance to survive, so the king of that city surrendered to Alexander.
> That’s an illustration of a surrended life without a question.
3) Carrying the cross is not a one-time decision, but daily decision, daily dying for self and daily living for Christ. (Vác thập tự gía không phải là một sự quyết định chỉ có một lần duy nhất, nhưng mỗi ngày làm chết đi xác thịt và những tự dục của nó, mà sống cho Chúa luôn mọi lúc.)
# If we carry our cross and truly die to self, we are no longer concerned with how nice our clothes are; what we eat or drink; what color of our Iphone cover; whether their favorite football team win or loose. (Nếu c/ta thật sự vác thập tự và chết thì c/ta cũng không còn quan tâm đến vấn đề ăn mặc cho thật sang trọng, ăn uống quá cầu kỳ, nắp che của máy Iphone của mình phải là màu gì, hay đội thể thao của mình đã thắng hay thua?)
> They don’t even care much what other people think of them. (C/ta cũng không chú tâm cho lắm những gì người khác phê bình về mình.)
III. Gainings
> So what do I gain by losing of this life for Jesus’ sake? (Như vậy c/ta gặt hái được gì nếu bằng lòng “mất sự sống này?”)
1) You gain a life with no more fears, because the God you trust has the final sayings – “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (C/ta sống sẽ chẳng còn nỗi lo sợ nào nữa, vì Chúa mà c/ta tin cậy, Ngài có lời phán xử cuối cùng cho mọi sự và mọi người - “Đừng sợ kẻ giết thân thể mà không giết được linh hồn; nhưng thà sợ Đấng làm cho mất được linh hồn và thân thể trong địa ngục.”)
> We are living with many fears today: (C/ta đang sống với nhiều nỗi lo sợ?)
a) Would North Korea start WW III in 2018? If it happens, how would our life be? (Không biết Bắc Hàn có sẽ gây chiến tranh thứ III năm tới đây không? Rồi cuộc sống của thế giới sẽ ra sao?)
b) Shooting incidents are no longer a bizarre story, but happen almost every week; and it can even happen in churches. (Những vụ bắn giết bằng súng tiểu liên hầu như xảy ra thường xuyên mỗi tuần, kể cả trong những nhà thờ nữa cũng không tránh được.)
# We are living in a lifetime that going to church is not just to bring the Bible, but also guns for our own protection? (C/ta sống trong một thời điểm mà đi nhóm c/ta không chỉ mang Kinh Thánh theo, nhưng có người phải mang súng nữa để tự vệ đề phòng.)
c) We worry about economy, health care, social security retirement funding because US deficit now is over 20 trillions… (C/ta lo lắng cho nền kinh tế, chương trình bảo tồn sức khỏe, tiền gìa có còn nữa không khi mình về hưu vì Mỹ đang nợ nần lên đến trên 20 ngàn tỷ.)
d) We fear of media who persecutes Christians and may take away our freedom one day? (Là cơ đốc nhân, c/ta lo lắng không biết ở nước Mỹ tự do này sẽ có sự bắt bớ đạo và giới hạn đi quyền tự do tôn giáo không?)
> But Jesus reminds us not to fear them, because they only can harm our physical bodies, but we must fear God - WHO can destroy both our body and soul in hell or keep them in heaven. (Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu phán c/ta chớ có sợ họ, vì con người chỉ có thể làm hại được phần xác của mình mà thôi, nhưng phải đáng kính sợ Đấng có thể phá hủy cả xác lẫn hồn trong hồ lửa địa ngục.)
# Our persecutors can throw us in prisons, chain our hands and feet, beat our bodies, curse our faces, but no one can touch our souls. (Những kẻ bắt bớ c/ta chỉ có thể bỏ tù c/ta, trói buộc tay chân, đánh đập, rủa sả c/ta, nhưng họ sẽ không đụng được đến phần linh hồn của mình.)
> We should fear God because He has the final sayings in the last judgment day. (C/ta phải biết kính sợ Chúa là Đấng có lời phán xét cuối cùng cho mọi người trong ngày tận thế.)
> We should fear God because there is nothing can be hidden from Him, and His judgment is perfect. (C/ta phải kính sợ Chúa vì không có điều chi có thể dấu khỏi mặt Ngài; Chúa thấy và biết mọi sự, và sự phán xét của Chúa là toàn hảo.)
> For the unbeliever, the fear of God is the fear of the judgment of God and eternal death, which is eternal separation from Him. (Cho những kẻ chưa tin, điều sợ hãi nhất của họ là sự đoán phạt của Chúa và sự chết đời đời phải xa cách khỏi mặt Ngài.)
> But for the believer, the fear of God is a reverence of Him. (Nhưng sự kính sợ của những kẻ tin là sự kính phục, lòng sùng kính Đức Chúa Trời, Đấng Tạo Hóa chí cao.)
> This reverence fear is the motivating factor for us to make wise choices in life that please God, because Proverbs 1:7 declares, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Sự kính sợ Chúa là Đấng biết và thấy mọi sự là động cơ giúp c/ta có những sự chọn lựa khôn ngoan làm vui lòng Ngài, vì Châm Ngôn 1:7 có chép – “Sự kính sợ Đức Giê-hô-va là khởi đầu sự tri thức; Còn kẻ ngu muội khinh bỉ sự khôn ngoan và lời khuyên dạy.”)
> True wisdom comes only from understanding who God is and that He is holy, just, and righteous. (Sự khôn sáng đến từ sự thông biết Chúa là Đấng Thánh Khiết, công bình mà tránh làm điều ác.)
> A fear of God, for the believer, includes understanding how much God hates sin and fearing His judgment on sin. (Sự kính sợ Chúa là sự hiểu biết Đức Chúa Trời ghét tội lỗi thể nào và sợ sự đóan phạt của Ngài.)
> “Fearing of God” seems to be a missing topic of preaching, teaching, and practicing in the life of churches, Christian families and society today. (Chủ đề “kính sợ Chúa” hình như là một điều ít có được giảng dạy trong Hội Thánh, gia đình cơ đốc và xã hội ngày nay.)
> As a result, we see turmoil, madness and disorders in our land; we see Christians are wasting their life for the things that add no value to God’s kingdom; we see sins are practiced legally and protected in the name of freedom; crazy people took guns and shot the innocents, and ended up shot themselves or got shot. (Hậu quả c/ta thấy trước mắt những sự rối loạn tăng lên trong nước, những cơ đốc nhân bỏ phí cuộc đời của mình trong những thứ không có gía trị trường tồn, và c/ta thấy tội ác được phép thi hành và bảo vệ trong danh của 2 chữ tự do; Có những kẻ ác lấy súng bắn những người vô tội, để rồi sau đó tự sát hay bị người ta bắn chết, uổng cuộc đời.)
> Do you want to gain a life free of threats, fears, chaos, and worries, then fear God! (Bạn muốn sống một đời sống không còn nỗi lo sợ nào không, vậy thì hãy kính sợ Chúa!)
> It’s true that whoever fears God, fear no one else, even the enemy of death; and that is a great life attitude that we gain when we believe in Jesus and follow Him. (Những ai kính sợ Chúa thì chẳng còn sợ ai nữa, kể cả kẻ thù dữ nhất là sự chết, và đó là một thái độ sống c/ta có được, khi tin cậy và đi theo Chúa Giê-xu.)
2) By losing this life, we gain a contentment knowing that God cares for us, as Jesus said – “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Khi bằng lòng đánh mất mạng sống mình, c/ta gặt hái được sự thỏa lòng trong cuộc sống này, vì có Chúa luôn chăm sóc, như Chúa Giê-xu nói – “Hai con chim sẻ há chẳng từng bị bán một đồng tiền sao? Và ví không theo ý muốn Cha các ngươi, thì chẳng hề một con nào rơi xuống đất. 30 Tóc trên đầu các ngươi cũng đã đếm hết rồi. 31 Vậy, đừng sợ chi hết, vì các ngươi quí trọng hơn nhiều con chim sẻ.”)
> Do you care for your own children and family? (Bạn có hay chăm sóc gia đình mình không?)
> Why do we sacrifice everyday to go to work in order to provide our family’s needs? (Vì vậy mà bạn và tôi hy sinh mỗi ngày làm lụng cực nhọc, để có tiền bạc cung cấp những nhu cầu cho gia đình mình phải không?)
> Then why can’t you understand that the Almighty God, our Father from above is watching every steps of His children? (Nếu như vậy thì tại sao bạn chưa hiểu Đức Chúa Trời quyền năng, Cha c/ta hằng chăm ngó mỗi bước chân của mỗi con cái Ngài?)
> Jesus reasoned that if God even cares for a little sparrow life, would He not watch over those He sacrificed His Son to redeem back for Himself? (Chúa Giê-xu nhắc, nếu Cha trên trời còn biết rõ đời sống của một con chim sẻ nữa, thì c/ta là những người được Chúa chuộc bởi chính huyết của Con một Ngài, thì chẳng lẽ Ngài không chăm sóc sao?)
> We are not orphans; but we have a “big” Daddy who cares deeply for our needs, even knowing the number of hairs on our head. (C/ta không phải là những đứa trẻ mồ côi, nhưng c/ta có Cha yêu thương đời đời thông hiểu mọi nhu cầu, thông cảm mọi nỗi khó khăn, đến nỗi số tóc trên đầu của mỗi c/ta Chúa đã đếm hết rồi.)
> Of course, there are times we feel that God is not near, not answering our prayers, not meeting our needs, but we need to trust Him Who is wiser than our thoughts, plans and ways. (Đương nhiên sẽ có lúc c/ta cầu nguyện nhưng hình như Chúa không trả lời; nhưng c/ta phải tin cậy nơi Chúa hoàn toàn, như một đứa trẻ tin tưởng hoàn toàn vào cha của nó là người khôn ngoan và có sự hiểu biết cao hơn đường lối riêng của nó.)
3) By losing this life, we gain the eternal life as Jesus promised – “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” (Khi c/ta bằng lòng mất sự sống này, c/ta sẽ gặt được sự sống đời đời, y như lời Chúa hứa – “Ai gìn giữ sự sống mình, thì sẽ mất; còn ai vì cớ ta mất sự sống mình, thì sẽ tìm lại được.”)
# “it” here is the abundant life as Jesus once said in John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (Sự sống tìm lại được đây là sự sống dư dật mà Chúa Giê-xu đã một lần hứa – “Kẻ trộm chỉ đến để cướp giết và hủy diệt; còn ta đã đến, hầu cho chiên được sự sống và được sự sống dư dật.”)
> Having money and fame doesn’t mean you have found the abundant life. (Có tiền của/danh vọng ở đời này chưa chắc là bạn sẽ kinh nghiệm được sự sống dư dật mà Chúa Giê-xu nói đến ở đây.)

# Material blessings may or may not be a sure indication of our standing with God, but the relationship with God by “growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” is. > Everyone of us submit to someone everyday? Our boss, traffic rules, state laws, copying our neighbors? (Mỗi người trong c/ta cũng phải đang chịu phục một người nào đó? Ông bà chủ, luật lệ giao thông, bắt chước người hàng xóm mình?)
> What’s about a complete submission to the Almighty God and follow His Son to gain an abundant life? (Nhưng còn đầu phục Chúa quyền năng và bước đi theo Con Ngài để nhận được sự sống dư dật thì sao?)
> Jesus is calling you to follow Him today to find a true and meaningful life. (Chúa Giê-xu mời gọi c/ta hãy đi theo Ngài để khám phá ra một cuộc đời đầy ý nghĩa và trong lẽ thật.)
> Will you response to His calling? (Bạn có sẽ đáp lại lời kêu gọi của Chúa không?)
> Are you willing to lose this life, and be allegiant to Jesus in order to gain the abundant life? (Bạn có sẽ bằng lòng đánh mất cuộc sống này, hết lòng đầu phục Chúa để kinh nghiệm sự sống dư dật không?)
# That was why the young missionary named Jim Elliot who gave his life trying to reach the Auca Indians of Ecuador, once said a profound statement – “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” (Vì đó mà nhà truyền giáo tử đạo trẻ tuổi tên Jim Elliot cho người da đỏ ở vùng Ecuador đã một lần nói: “Không ai dại gì mà không bằng lòng đánh mất những thứ mình giữ không được, để gặt lấy những điều quí gía trường tồn mình không thể mất được.”)

> We are weak and imperfect to live a total surrender life for Jesus Christ because it is not easy; but we have the Holy Spirit Who will help us through, as long as we make a commitment to follow Jesus before God today. > The journey of a Christian life is:
# First step describes in John 3:16 – “… Whosoever believes in Jesus will not be perish, but have eternal life” means believing in Jesus.
# Next step is in Matthew 10:38 – “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me,” means following Jesus.
> Our instinct does not want to follow or submit to anything or anyone.
> We do not like to make sacrifices because we have not understood the abundant gain for those who are willing to believe and follow Jesus.
# Our culture can be described well by the Burger King slogan – “Have it your way!” but Jesus is saying “Give up everything, come and die?”
> We must be daily dying to self and daily living for Christ – that is Jesus’ invitation to you and me.
# The style of preaching today seems to offer all comfortable ways to life; but never about dying for self.
> Losing this life by carrying the cross in dying for self mean to be a slave for Christ, simply giving up all our rights to the Master.
# Living for Christ, we must choose Him over our family, money, career goals, getting drunk, looking at porn sites, our freedom, nicer cars, bigger house… because it will cost us everything to place Christ first place in our heart and life.
> Submissive is key to find a true and meaningful life.
> We are about to celebrate one of the greatest holidays of the year - Christmas.
> Christmas reminds me a total submission and surrender of Jesus Who had choices, but chose to obey His Father, left His heavenly realm, was born in a lowly manger to die on the cross, so we can find a way to reconcile with God.
> What a marvelous life example of submission and surrender for us to imitate in dying for self and living for Him!
> To many of you, this sermon does not say that you are not committed to Christ, if not you woudn’t be here; but I hope this sermon encourages us to commit following Him everyday, not just on Sunday, but Monday through Saturday at everywhere we go, in everything we do.
> We will move, act, and live, making all daily decisions for Jesus and bring glory to Him.
> We will pursue in knowing Jesus more everyday, because from knowing Jesus through His words, we become loving Him, then following Jesus is a much easier journey.
> Jesus doesn’t seek admirers, but He calls committed followers to take up their cross and follow Him. Will you be that committed follower?
> May the Holy Spirit help us to truly understand His calling, not just going to church every Sunday, but following and dying for Christ daily.
