Dear Friends,
In 1971 I was in Vietnam as a 21 year old young man. I was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay and worked security police around the vast Air Force Base. I was in the wardog program and had a German shepherd to keep me company during the long nights.

On May 23rd we were attacked. A sapper team attempted to penetrate my position outside the POL area where we stored our jet fuel. It was there and then the Holy Spirit convicted me as I wondered what would happen to me if I died. It was during this fierce attack that I asked The Lord Jesus Christ to come into my heart and save me. Though I had been a church member during my life I did not know Christ in a personal way until this night. The Lord graciously spared my life that night and other nights and brought me home safely.

Vietnam to this day holds a special place in my heart for it was the birthplace of my spiritual life with God. I pray for the underground church there and want to return some day to that land and people. I have been in fulltime ministry the last 25 years.

Sincerely In Christ,
Pastor Steve Janke/ N.J.
