Overcoming Temptations
(Mathiơ 26:41 / Rôma 13:14 / 1 Corinhtô 10:13)
Mathiơ 26:41 – “Hãy thức canh và cầu nguyện, kẻo các ngươi sa vào chước cám dỗ; tâm thần thì muốn lắm, mà xác thịt thì yếu đuối.”
(Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.)
Rôma 13:14 – “Đừng nhưng hãy mặc lấy Chúa Giê-xu Cơ Đốc; đừng nghĩ đến cách làm thỏa mãn các dục vọng của xác thịt.”
(But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.)
1 Corinhtô 10:13 - “Những sự cám dỗ đến cho anh em, chẳng có sự nào quá sức loài người. Đức Chúa Trời là thành tín, Ngài chẳng hề cho anh em bị cám dỗ quá sức mình đâu; nhưng trong sự cám dỗ, Ngài cũng mở đàng cho ra khỏi, để anh em có thể chịu được.”
(No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.)
I. God Hates Sins
> God is very serious about sins and He hates them. Why? (Đức Chúa Trời (ĐCT) rất nghiêm khắc với tội lỗi; Ngài rất ghét tội lỗi xấu xa. Tại sao vậy?)
1) Sins oppose to His holiness attributes. Sins mock God’s characters. (Tội lỗi đối nghịch với bản tánh thánh khiết vẹn toàn của Chúa; tội lỗi chọc giận Ngài.)
2) Sins separate God’s creation - mankind created in His own image - from Himself. (Tội lỗi đã phân rẻ loài người là loài được dựng nên giống hình ảnh của Chúa, khỏi chính Ngài.)
# Adam & Eva were banished from the garden after they sinned by eating the fruit of the forbidden tree. (Ađam & Êva đã bị đuổi ra khỏi vườn sự sống, sau khi 2 người ăn trái của cây cấm.)
3) Sins allure God’s people to the destruction of eternal death, and rob their blessings of peace and joy. (Tội lỗi dẫn loài người đến cõi của sự hư mất đời đời, cướp mất mọi phước lành Chúa muốn ban cho chúng ta.)
4) Sins hinder God’s people from doing His will to become what He wants us to be. (Tội lỗi cản trở dân Chúa, hội thánh Ngài sống theo ý muốn và mục đích tốt lành của Chúa.)
> God will judge sins, because He is a “consuming fire,” as in Hebrews 12:29 – (for our "God is a consuming fire.") (Chúa sẽ phán xét mọi tội nhân, vì Ngài là đám lửa hay thiêu đốt.)
# In Noah time, God destroyed the whole race on earth, except 8 people left, because the world was full of wickedness. (Ngày xưa, ĐCT tiêu diệt cả một giòng giống luông tuồng, chỉ chừa có 8 người còn sót lại trong gia đình của Nôe.)
# God sent brimstone and fire out of heaven to destroy both cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their horrible sins. (ĐCT giáng mưa diêm sanh và lửa xuống thành Sôđôm và Gômôrơ tiêu diệt mọi người, không sót một ai vì nếp sống ô uế, với tình nghĩa không tự nhiên của họ.)
# God punished His people to wander in the wilderness for 40 years because of their rebellious unbelief to His promise. (ĐCT làm cho dân sự của Ngài bị lưu đầy trong đồng vắng 40 năm, vì tội bất tín ở nơi lời hứa của Chúa là Đấng đã giải cứu họ ra khỏi vòng nô lệ của người Aicập.)
# God allowed Babylonians to defeat and dominate His people for 70 years because of they worshipped many idols. (Chúa trừng phạt dân Guiđa tội thờ các tà thần, cho họ bị xâm lăng và lưu đầy qua xứ Babylôn là một dân rất ác đến 70 năm.)
> Not just God, but Jesus, God’s Son is also very serious about sins. (Chúa Giê-xu, Con Ngài cũng nghiêm khắc với tội lỗi.)
> One of Jesus’ strongest teachings is about “getting rid” all the sources causing us to sin in Mathiơ 5:29 – (If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell) (Một trong những lời dạy khắc khe của Chúa về việc dứt khoát với tội lỗi có chép như sau: “Vậy nếu con mắt bên hữu xui cho ngươi phạm tội, thì hãy móc mà quăng nó cho xa ngươi đi; vì thà chịu một phần thân thể ngươi phải hư, còn hơn là cả thân thể bị ném vào địa ngục.”)
> One of the important things Jesus taught His disciples to pray is to be delivered from temptations causing us to sin against God. (Một trong 5 điều quan trọng trong bài cầu nguyện chung chép trong Mathiơ 6:13, chính Chúa Giê-xu dạy các môn đồ phải cầu nguyện – “Xin chớ để chúng tôi bị cám dỗ, mà cứu chúng tôi khỏi điều ác!”)
II. We Need to be Serious about Sins
> We all need to be very serious about sins and their consequences. (Chúng ta cần sống nghiêm khắc với tội lỗi và kiếp sợ những hậu quả của nó gây nên.)
> To be serious, we must first see sins as God sees them. (Chúng ta biết sợ tội, khi nào c/ta bắt đầu biết định tội như Chúa định.)
> We sin easily today, because we do not see sins as God defines in His Word, and forgetting that God is holy, and just. (C/ta phạm tội dễ dàng vì không nhận thấy tội theo như lời Kinh Thánh dạy, c/ta chỉ thấy Chúa như là một Đấng yêu thương nhân từ, mà quên rằng ĐCT còn là một vị quan tòa công bình, một Chúa thánh khiết kỵ tà, một người Cha kỷ luật.)
> America is in serious trouble today, because she is playing with sins by defining them with “good” names. (Nước Mỹ này đang ở trong tình trạng nguy hiểm, vì chúng ta đang đùa nghịch với tội lỗi, bằng cách che đậy và gọi tội bằng những cái danh từ hay ho, thánh thiện.)
> We must remember that America is no different than the Jewish nation; God will judge America just as He did to the Jewish nation, if we do not repent. (C/ta đừng quên rằng nước Mỹ này chẳng khác chi với dân tộc Do Thái; Nếu ĐCT trừng phạt dân biệt riêng của Chúa ngày xưa, thì Ngài cũng sẽ trừng phạt nước Mỹ ngày nay, nếu c/ta cứng lòng không chịu ăn năn.)
III. Temptations
> Why do we sin? We sin when we fall into temptations. (Tại sao chúng ta phạm tội? C/ta phạm tội khi xa vào các sự cám dỗ.)
> So to be serious about sins, we need to learn how to avoid and overcome all the temptations. (Nếu c/ta có tinh thần nghiêm khắc với tội lỗi, thì c/ta phải tập tránh xa và thắng mọi sự cám dỗ.)
1) First, no one is spare of temptations as we live in this world. Never say that I will not be tempted. (Khi nói đến cám dỗ, điều thứ nhất mỗi người c/ta phải hiểu đó là không một ai được miễn, khi c/ta còn sống ở trên thế gian này. Có người bị cám dỗ ít, có người nhiều, nhưng mọi người ai còn sống, thì chắc chắn sẽ bị cám dỗ.)
> Temptation is a part of everyday life, because the world we are living in, is a sinful & fallen world! (Sự cám dỗ là điều tự nhiên ai trong c/ta cũng sẽ phải đối diện trong thế gian tối tăm, tội lỗi và đầy sự xa ngã này.)
# In 1 John 2:6, the apostle John said – “For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.” (Chính lời Chúa có chép – “Vì mọi sự trong thế gian, như sự mê tham của xác thịt, mê tham của mắt, và sự kiêu ngạo của đời, đều chẳng từ Cha mà đến, nhưng từ thế gian mà ra.”)
> Whoever was born into this world and knows between right and wrong, then for sure that person will be tempted. (Hễ ai đã sanh ra đời & bắt đầu có sự hiểu biết của điều thiện và việc ác, thì người đó sẽ bị cám dỗ.)
# A person came and asked a priest – “When will my temptations end?” The priest wisely answered: “When you are already dead after 3 days.” (Có một người giáo dân đến hỏi một ông cha bên công giáo - "Thưa cha, khi nào thì con mới hết bị cám dỗ?" Ông cha khôn ngoan trả lời: "Sau khi con đã chết 3 ngày rồi!)
# Temptations are common things in our daily life. (Sự cám dỗ là lẽ thường tình trong cuộc sống của con người xác thịt này.)
2) Secondly, temptations come to us in many different shapes and sizes. (Điều thứ hai, c/ta phải nhận thức rằng ma quỉ cám dỗ c/ta bằng đủ mọi cách, nhiều kiểu, nhiều thứ khác nhau.
# Have you visited Cabela’s or Pro-Bass stores, and observed thousand different kinds of baits? (Có bao giờ quí vị đi vào những tiệm bán dụng cụ để câu cá, như là trong tiệm Cabela’ hay Pro-Bass? Trong đó người ta bán biết bao nhiêu những loại mồi câu cá khác nhau, đủ thứ hình thù: mồi con ếch nhỏ, con trùng, con cắc kè, con dế con, loại quay vòng trong nước (spinning), loại có lông đi theo sau, đủ mầu mè…)
> Satan has a “big shop” that he is making all kinds of baits to lure us into sinning. (Ma quỉ cũng đang rình mò và chế ra đủ thứ bẫy cám dỗ với những miếng mồi béo, để cám dỗ c/ta phạm tội.)
# The bait of money greediness. (Phương diện vất chất như lòng tham tiền bạc, của cải ở đời này.)
# The bait of power and fame. (Phương diện tham lam tiếng tăm, quyền thế, một chỗ đứng, địa vị nào đó, mà sẵn sàng làm bất cứ điều gì để chiếm đoạt được.)
# The bait of sexual lust. (Phương diện tình dục xấu xa ở ngoài phạm vi vợ chồng.)
a) These temptations appeal to our fleshly desires as said in James 1:14 – “but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.” (Những cám dỗ chiều theo tư dục của mình, như có chép – “Nhưng mỗi người bị cám dỗ khi mắc tư dục xui giục mình.”)
# President Clinton may never worry about money, but his desire is illicit sex. (Tổng thống Clinton có lẽ không bao giờ lo lắng đến vấn đề tiền bạc, nhưng ham tình dục xấu xa cấm phạt?)
# Pastor Jimmy Swarggart may never want to gamble, but he likes illicit sex. (Pastor Jimmy Swarggart không bao giờ ham đánh bài, nhưng ham tình dục xấu xa.)
> Satan sits, studies our habits, waits and then he casts the right kind of temptations to allure us into sinning. (Satan nó ngồi, rình, và quan sát coi xem sở thích của mỗi người c/ta là gì, và rồi lập bẫy cám dỗ thích hợp với tư dục của mình có, để cám dỗ c/ta phạm tội.)
> In 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us what satan is doing? “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (Kinh Thánh trong 1 Phiêrơ 5:8 nhắc c/ta ma quỉ đang làm gì? “Hãy tiết độ và tỉnh thức: kẻ thù nghịch anh em là ma quỉ, như sư tử rống, đi rình mò xung quanh anh em, tìm kiếm người nào nó có thể nuốt được.")
# Satan knows our desires and he will cast temptations that appeal to our lusts of the flesh. (Ma quỉ đang ngồi, rình mò và chờ đợi cho đúng cơ hội sẽ quăng mồi cám dỗ theo tư dục mình muốn, nhất là khi c/ta đang bị mệt mỏi hay yếu đuối tâm linh.)
# In the history of mankind, there are so many famous, intelligent, successful, and talented people, but some were fallen into the temptation of sexual sins. (Trong lịch sử loài người đã có rất nhiều người nổi tiếng, thông minh, tài giỏi, thành công, nhưng không có mấy ai thắng được tên khổng lồ của sự tham muốn tình dục ô uế.)
# In 2 Samuel 11, king David one time was walking on his balcony and saw a woman bathing. (Trong 2 Samuên 11 có chép ngày xưa vua Đavít một ngày tình cờ khi đi dạo chơi trên balcôn của mình thì thấy một người nữ đang tắm.) Instead of turning away, going in and reading the Bible, David desired of the woman, ending up committed an adultery sin, later murdered her husband. (Thay vì quay mặt, bỏ đi vào phòng đọc Thánh Kinh thì chắc Đavít cứ ngắm nhìn, xong về phòng mình và tối hôm đó cứ “suy nghĩ’ đến người phụ nữ này, động lòng ham muốn… và rồi cuối cùng phạm tội ngoại tình với người nữ này và dẫn đến cả tội giết người, đó là hại đến chồng của bà.) Satan knew what David desired, just as he knows what is yours and mine. (Ma quỉ biết tư dục của Đavít là gì, cũng như nó biết tư dục của tôi và mỗi quí vị.)
b) Worse than that, temptations are readily available today in many easy ways with the hi-tech communication tools. (Điều còn nguy hiểm hơn nữa, sự cám dỗ càng ngày càng dễ dàng và sẵn sàng ngay trước mắt c/ta trong thế giới điện toán tinh vi ngày hôm nay.)
# One of obvious sources of temptations today is the WWW Internet. (Một trong những con mồi tân tiến nhất đó chính là “mạng lưới Internet,” rất dễ làm cho nhiều người, kể cả những trẻ em trong tuổi thiếu niên bị cám dỗ mà phạm tội.)
> I do not say “Internet” is all bad, but the devils have cleverly used it as a tool to cast their temptations such as pornography, luring so many people into sinning. (Tôi không nói “Internet” là xấu hết, nhưng ma quỉ rất quỉ quyệt, nó len lỏi vào đó những bẫy cám dỗ, chẳng hạn như những mạng lưới có hình ảnh khiêu dâm, dễ dàng mà làm biết bao nhiêu người, kể cả con cái Chúa xa vào chước cám dỗ.)
# Pornography is a big business. (Những mạng lưới có hình khiêu dâm trên Internet là một ngành thương mại có lợi tức đến hơn 15 tỉ đôla mỗi năm, hơn cả tiệm McDonald hay tương đương với Walmart ngày nay.)
# Other channels that the devils also use today to spread their temptations effectively are “R” rated movies, adult TV shows, advertisements, and some of the RAP music. (Sự ảnh hưởng của phim ảnh, TV, những quảng cáo, nhạc lý khiêu dâm, báo chí đầy những câu chuyện vui tục, mà không cần phải ra chợ mua nữa, những thứ này có thể gởi đến ngay căn phòng yên lặng của mình - free of charge - một cách dễ dàng.)
III. Overcoming Temptations
> We know the problem, our enemy and their tactics; the next question – how can we overcome temptations? (C/ta hiểu vấn đề, biết kẻ thù nghịch và mưu kế của nó, dụng cụ nó dùng – câu hỏi thực tế tới đó là làm sao c/ta thắng những sự cám dỗ đây?)
1) The most effective way is to maintain a solid prayer lifestyle. (Phương pháp hay nhất là phải tập có một nếp sống thường xuyên cầu nguyện và học Kinh Thánh luôn mỗi ngày)
> We must learn from Jesus’ life on how He always overcame temptations. (C/ta phải học ở chính đời sống của Chúa Giê-xu về bí quyết căn bản làm thế nào Ngài luôn thắng sự cám dỗ, bởi vì Ngài luôn cầu nguyện.)
> Jesus started His ministry with prayer, ended His mission with prayer, and plenty of praying in between. For that reason, He completed the redemptive work that His Father sent Him into the world to do. (Chúa bắt đầu sứ mệnh rao giảng Tin Lành bằng sự cầu nguyện, và Ngài kết thúc công cuộc cứu chuộc bằng sự cầu nguyện.)
a) Jesus started His ministry with 40 days up in the mountain fasting and praying. (Bắt đầu công tác truyền bá đạo, Chúa Giê-xu đã trước hết lên núi 40 ngày đêm kiêng ăn để cầu nguyện, và sau khi xuống núi, Ngài bị cám dỗ 3 lần nhưng chẳng phạm tội.)
b) Jesus begun each day with prayer. (Chúa Giê-xu thường xuyên cầu nguyện mỗi ngày, từ lúc trời còn tờ mờ sáng, cho đến chiều tối, có khi suốt thâu đêm cầu nguyện.)
# Mác 1:35 – (Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.) “Sáng hôm sau trời còn mờ mờ, Ngài chờ dậy, bước ra, đi vào nơi vắng vẻ, và cầu nguyện tại đó.”
# Mathiơ 14:23 – (After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,) “Xong rồi, Ngài lên núi để cầu nguyện riêng; đến chiều tối, Ngài ở đó một mình.”
c) Jesus finished the mission of the cross with the prayer at the garden of Gethsemane. (Chúa Giê-xu cầu nguyện tha thiết tại vườn Ghếtsêmanê, trước khi đối diện với thập tự giá cho đến hơi thở cuối cùng, thắng sự cám dỗ của ma quỉ vây xung quanh mình.)
d) Jesus clearly taught the principle to overcome temptations in Matthew 26:41 – "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Chúa Giê-xu dạy rõ yếu tố để thắng sự cám dỗ là sự cầu nguyện trong Mathiơ 26:41 – “Hãy thức canh và cầu nguyện, kẻo các ngươi sa vào chước cám dỗ; tâm thần thì muốn lắm, mà xác thịt thì yếu đuối.”)
> We cannot fight temptations alone. We must depend on Jesus, the power of His Spirit through prayer. (C/ta không thể chiến đấu với sự cám dỗ một mình hay bằng sức riêng, nhưng phải “nhờ cậy” vào quyền năng của Chúa Thánh Linh qua sự cầu nguyện, của Chúa Giê-xu là Đấng có quyền năng đã thắng mọi sự cám dỗ.)
> The nearer we are with Jesus in prayer, the stronger we can stand against temptations. (Càng gần Chúa trong sự cầu nguyện, có mối liên hệ mật thiết với Ngài, thì c/ta càng có sức mạnh dễ thắng những sự cám dỗ của ma quỉ hơn.)
# You charge your cell phone each day? If not, it is useless. So does our daily life that must be “charged” with the time we spend in prayer to be strong facing temptations. (Cái máy cell phone của mình cần phải được “charged điện” mỗi ngày, nếu không hết điện thì máy cell phone đó có đắt tiền đến đâu đi nữa cũng là vô ích, huống chi đời sống tâm linh của c/ta không được “charged” bằng sự cầu nguyện thường xuyên với Ngài mỗi ngày sao, thì làm sao thắng nổi những sự cám dỗ?)
> The power to overcome temptations is at the “knee level.” (C/ta phải hiểu sức mạnh đế chống cự lại những cám dỗ là ở cái “đầu gối.”)
# A story of a strong body-builder man went hiking up in the mountain with a pastor. (Câu chuyện về một anh thanh niên rất đô con có lần đi trèo núi với một vị mục sư). When they reach the top of a mountain, the wind was blowing so hard that the strong man yelled: “I cannot stand any longer; the wind is so strong up here.” (Khi đến được đỉnh núi, thì gió thổi quá mạnh, anh thanh niên la lên: “Tôi không đứng được nữa, gió thổi quá mạnh ở trên đây!”) The pastor was kneeling and shouted back: “Kneel my friend. Kneel my friend. That is the only we can survive up here.” (Vị mục sư la lên: “Quì gối xuống, quì gối xuống bạn ơi. Đây là cách duy nhất c/ta có thể còn tồn tại trên đỉnh núi này.”)
> When we deal with temptations, it’s not a matter of how big are your muscles, but how strong are your “knees,” meaning a lifestyle of prayer. (Khi nói đến sự chiến đấu với cám dỗ thì sẽ không còn lệ thuộc vàp bắp chuộc của quí vị có to lớn không, nhưng là “đầu gối” của quí vị có bị “chai” chưa, nghĩa là nói đến một nếp sống cầu nguyện thường xuyên.)
2) Guard yourself from all provisions of the flesh. (Tự canh chừng khỏi những “cánh cửa” dẫn những sự cám dỗ vào lòng.)
# Romans 13:14 – “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” (Lời Chúa trong Rôma 13:14 dạy – “nhưng hãy mặc lấy Chúa Giê-xu Cơ Đốc; đừng nghĩ đến cách làm thỏa mãn các dục vọng của xác thịt.)
> We live daily so carelessly, by opening many doors wide, for temptations to come in. (Có vô số con cái Chúa sống rất là cẩu thả, đang mở toan biết bao nhiêu là những cánh cửa, để những mồi cám dỗ dễ dàng đi vào lòng mình.)
> The biggest door we open today I believe is the electronic stuffs, from Ipad, TV, computers, video games… (Cửa lớn nhất tôi tin rằng c/ta đang vô tình mở là những đồ chơi và dụng cụ của các máy điện toán.)
> Are you checking these stuffs and guard yourself from temptations? (Có bao giờ quí vị kiểm soát xem những c/trình TV, phim ảnh trong những đài cable HBO, Showtime, MTV đang có biết bao nhiêu là những chủ thuyết đi ngược với đạo Chúa, và đang âm thầm phô trương quyền lực của ma quỉ, dụ dỗ c/ta phạm tội không?)
> To parents – are you guarding all of these electronic toys from your children that can be open doors to allow temptations to enter into their heart? (Các bậc cha mẹ có đang canh chừng những máy điện toán mình mua cho con cái xử dụng, coi xem có là những cánh cửa đang dẫn nhiều sự cám dỗ vào trong đầu óc của chúng nó không?)
# Does the music words they are listening putting (seeding) dirty thoughts in their mind? (Loại nhạc chúng nó đang nghe có gieo những mầm móng của ý tưởng tội lỗi trong trí óc của con mình không?)
# Are the web sites, video games they are viewing clean? (Những mạng lưới hay video games chúng nó đang xử dụng có lành mạnh không?)
> If we are not careful, we are actually open many doors to invite temptations into our kids’ mind; and when they grow up, commit sins, do crazy things, then we wonder why? (Nếu c/ta không cẩn thận, chính c/ta đang giúp những cam dỗ đi vào đời sống của con em mình, rồi khi c/nó lớn lên làm những điều xấu xa, rồi c/ta lại tự hỏi tại sao?)
# You see - No young person wants to get pregnant, then do abortion; no one wants to become a drug addict, and get arrested; nobody plan to be stucked in jail for the rest of his life; But the problem here is how many of us live everyday plan NOT to get in these troubles, to avoid temptations? (Vấn đề ở đây không phải là c/ta có "dự tính" rớt vào những hậu qủa đau thương của tội ác, nhưng là c/ta có biết đề phòng, canh chừng, để tránh những “cánh cửa” dẫn chúng ta vào sự cám dỗ không? Không có cha mẹ nào muốn nhìn con mình vào tù ra khám trong những sự nghiện ngập; Nhưng câu hỏi đáng hỏi là có bao nhiêu bậc cha mẹ ở đây đang có c/trình dạy dỗ và canh chừng con mình tránh rớt vào những hoàn cảnh đó không?)
> Để chiến thắng sự cám dỗ, c/ta phải tập sống với một tinh thần để ý, canh chừng và tránh xa mọi sự cám dỗ xung quanh mình, đừng có “mở cửa” đón nó vào.
> The most effective way to fight against temptations is to pray that we will not have to fight them! (Phương pháp hay nhất để chiến đấu với sự cám dỗ là tránh xa nó, đừng mở cửa mời nó vào, đừng suy nghĩ xếp đặt đến đến những cách làm thỏa mãn tư dục của mình.)
# It’s better to avoid temptations than to fight them. (Ông bà c/ta có câu nói rất hay: “Tránh bịnh vẫn hay hơn trị bịnh,” thì cũng vậy “tránh cám dỗ vẫn hay hơn phải tranh đấu với cám dỗ.”)
> Guard every doors to our heart that may allow temptations to sneak in and build nets. (Canh chừng những thứ đang đi qua con mắt của mình, vào trí óc, vô trong lòng mình xây tổ, và từ lòng đó mà sanh ra những hành động nghịch lại với những mạng lệnh của Chúa dậy, trở thành thói quen xấu mà khó có thể bỏ được, để rồi đời sống của mình chẳng có ích chi cho nước thiên đàng của Chúa, mà có khi còn làm gương xấu cho đạo Chúa nữa.
> Do not get too close to the edges of temptations that God has no “room” to help us. (Đừng đến gần bờ “vực thẩm" của những sự cám dỗ mà Chúa không thể cứu mình được nữa.)
# An alcoholic person cannot stand infront of a bar & pray: "Lord! Please deliver me from this evil?" It doesn't work! (Một người nghiện rượu không thể nào đứng trước một cái bar và cầu nguyện “Xin Chúa giúp đỡ con.”)
# God cannot help you if you keep yourself alone with a computer in a locked room late at night. (Chúa không thể giúp đỡ chúng ta được nếu mình cớ một mình trong phòng kín thức khuya với máy điện toán chạy.)
> We must kill all the pro-visions of the flesh that entice us into sinning against God. Get rid all the roots that can cause us to sin. If you need to cut the cable, cut the cable; if you need to move the computer to the open living room, then do it. (Chúng ta phải loại bỏ mọi cánh cửa dễ dụ dỗ chúng ta phạm tội; phải nhổ tận rể nó nữa.)
# The story of a man when he gets into group praying always says: “Lord Jesus! Deliver me from all evils, the sins I keep on committing. Lord Jesus, deliver me from this “spider web of sins” for I am weak and always get stucked in it.” (Câu chuyện về một người đàn ông khi vào cầu nguyện chung luôn lên tiếng than thở, xin Chúa cứu ông ra khỏi những màn nhện của tội lỗi.”) Everytime he prays, he repeated the same phrase about the spider web of sins. (Cứ mỗi lần ông cầu nguyện là luôn nhắc đến cái lưới nhện của sự cám dỗ làm ông phạm tội.) Until one day, another man in the same praying group could not stand any longer, so he prayed: “Lord Jesus, my brother really needs your help to deliver him from the spider web of temptations, but Lord Jesus please kill the spider today!” (Cho đến một ngày thì có một người khác cũng cầu nguyện chung lên tiếng: “Chúa Giê-xu ơi! Anh em con cứ mắc phải cái lưới nhện của sự cám dỗ, xin Chúa hôm nay giết chết hẳn con nhện ngay để anh em con không còn bị máng vào lưới nữa.”)
> None of us plan to get in trouble, to get caught in the spider web, but how many of us plan “kill the spider,” removing all the pro-visions of the flesh causing us to sin? (Không ai trong chúng ta muốn bị máng vào lưới của sự cám dỗ, nhưng có bao nhiêu người trong chúng ta bằng lòng giết chết đi con nhện hôm nay đây?)
3) Maintain a solid prayer lifestyle; Get rid all provisions of the flesh; the last instruction is that we must trust God to know our limit and open an escape route when we face temptations. (Điều thứ ba, đó là chúng ta phải để ý lối thoát Chúa hứa sẽ giúp ban cho khi bị cám dỗ quá sức.)
> God is faithful to do what He has promised. That’s not the problem, but the problem is do we see the emergency exit door to get out of the temptations? (Đấng thành tín sẽ mở cho c/ta con đường thoát; Điều đó là chắc chắn, nhưng vấn đề là c/ta có thấy lối thoát mà bước vào không?)
a) We must understand how the devils tempt us starting with what we see with our eyes. (Ma quỉ cám dỗ c/ta bằng cách gieo vào mắt của mình vì "mắt thấy thì lòng dấy!)
# In Genesis 3:6 – the snake tempted Eve when she saw the fruits from the forbidden tree. (Trong Sáng Thế Ký 3:6 - Êva thấy trái của cây cấm ngon miệng và sẽ mở trí khôn.)
# In Judges 17:1-3/16:1 – Samson saw beautiful women. (Trong Các Quan Xét 17:1-3/16:1 - Samsôn thấy những người nữ đẹp mắt mà muốn có sự liên hệ, không cần biết tánh nết và luật pháp Chúa.)
> Satan is using similar tactics with images to tempt us today. (Ma quỉ cũng dùng mánh khéo giống như vậy ngày nay thật tinh vi qua những hình ảnh phô trương trên TV, mạng lưới Internet, báo chí, phim ảnh, video games, Iphone để cám dỗ mỗi c/ta.)
> We must recognize an “exit” when these images come to us is by turning away. Don’t take the 2nd look. (C/ta phải để ý lối thoát Chúa Thánh Linh chỉ cho để quay mặt khỏi những hình ảnh đó.)
# We must see the “Exit” door is just hitting the “DELETE” key, turning off the computer, and go do something else, such as praying or reading the Bible. (C/ta bấm nút “Delete” mà chạy khỏi ra.)
# 2 Timothy 2:22, Paul instructed young people to flee from temptations – “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (Phaolô khuyên những người trẻ tuổi phài biết chạy xa khỏi tình dục trai trẻ! Biết nhạy cảm về cái mồi cám dỗ và lấy “Exit” ra khỏi.)
> Don’t you know that the best kungfu is to run away? (Võ "chạy" là loại võ hay nhất, hơn cả Yoga.)
# In Genesis 39, Joseph ran away from the wife of his master wanting to commit an adultery sin. (Trong Sáng Thế Ký 39:11-12 - Giôsép tuột áo bỏ chạy khỏi sự cám dỗ tình dục khi bị người vợ của chủ mình muốn quyến rũ phạm tội tà dâm.)
> “Run Away” is the best exit to get out of temptations. You don’t have to stand there and listen to the gossiping to become a gossiper. (Chạy xa khỏi những cám dỗ. Bạn không cần phải đứng đó nghe những lời nói xấu người khác, để tránh không trở nên chính là một người nói xấu.)
b) If we do not take an exit to walk away, we will fall into the compromising stage and it makes more difficult to overcome the temptations. (Nếu không chịu tránh xa ngay, c/ta sẽ bị dẫn đến giai đoạn nguy hiểm đó là thương lượng với tội lỗi.)
> This is the stage when the devils will compromise with us by giving us all kind of excuses into your mind? (Đây là lúc sẽ có những lời thuyết phục, quyến rũ lôi cuốn ngọt ngào, đầy đủ những lý do bào chữa để cứ thúc c/ta "làm ngay đi.")
# Chỗ này vắng vẻ, không ai biết hay thấy đâu mà lo sợ chi? (Nobody knows?)
# Chỉ một lần thôi, đâu có sao đâu? (Just one time only?)
# Mọi người ai cũng thử hết, mà không thử thì dại quá! (Everybody does it today?)
# Chúa thông cảm hoàn cảnh đặc biệt của tôi mà! Tôi là người phàm yếu đuối. (God knows my situation, and I am weak!)
# Làm một lần nữa thôi sẽ không bị nghiện ngập đâu! (You will not get addicted; don’t worry!)
> You cannot compromise with sins, you will lose all the times. (Đừng thương lượng với sự cám dỗ, bạn lúc nào cũng sẽ bị thua trận, hãy hỏi Samsôn thì biết tại sao anh bị "trọc đầu?" Vì Samsôn cứ đùa giởn với kẻ thù của mình.)
# Someone said correctly: “If you lay down with the dogs, you get up with the fleas!” So, don’t lay down with the dogs. That’s simple!
> To exit the comproming stage is to use your weapon which is the words of God to fight. (Phương cách bước ra khỏi giai đọan thương lượng là c/ta phải dùng vũ khí của lời Chúa để chống cự lại.)
# In Matthew 4 recorded Jesus was tempted 3 times, but He did not yield to satan - why? (Sự kiện Chúa Giê-xu bị cám dỗ 3 lần có chép trong Mathiơ 4, nhưng Ngài đã không phạm tội - Tại sao?
# All 3 times Jesus used the sword of God’s word – “It is written…” to overcome satan’s temptations. (Cả 3 lần Chúa dùng gươm là lời của ĐCT, mà chống nghịch lại quỉ satan bằng cách nói: “Có lời chép rằng…”)
# A story about a young Christian girl went on a date first time and her handsome boyfriend who was about to lure her into sexual sin. (Câu chuyện của một cô thiếu nữ cơ đốc lần đầu tiên đi hẹn hò với một chàng thanh niên và anh muốn sắp sửa dụ dỗ cô bước vào tình dục xấu xa.) She said to the young man: “Please stop, then she pulled out a Bible and begun to read, just read and read.” (Cô la lên: “Ngừng ngay,” & rồi móc ra cuốn sách Kinh Thánh và bắt đầu đọc, và cứ đọc.) After 10 minutes listening to her reading Bible says, her boyfriend said: “Let’s go home!” (Sau 10 phút chàng thanh niên nghe cô đọc Kinh Thánh thì nói: “Thôi c/ta đi về!”) And they got home, the next day she dumped the boy! Amen! (Sau khi về rồi thì ngày hôm sau cô thiếu nữ từ bỏ chàng thanh niên này. Amen!)
> Do you have a small Bible in your purses? Just read, read and read. Use your weapon. (Các bạn trẻ có Kinh Thánh trong ví mình không? Hãy xử dụng vũ khí của mình.)
c) The last stage - if you keep on compromising with sins then it will lead you the sinning stage when you will fall into temptations. (Giai đoạn cuối cùng là đến chỗ phạm tội, là lúc bị “lên chảo nằm")
# James 1:14-15 – “But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.” (“Nhưng mỗi người bị cám dỗ khi mắc tư dục xui giục mình. 15 Đoạn, lòng tư dục cưu mang, sanh ra tội ác; tội ác đã trọn, sanh ra sự chết.”)
> Instead of covering up, lying, take the “exit” door that is to repent and return to the Lord quickly. (Thay vì tìm cách che đậy, nói láo, bào chữa, thì lối thoát cho c/ta là hãy mau mau ăn năn, xưng tội và quay mặt trở về với Chúa.)
# In 1 John 1:9 – God promised – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (Chúa hứa gì? “Còn nếu chúng ta xưng tội mình, thì Ngài là thành tín công bình để tha tội cho chúng ta, và làm cho chúng ta sạch mọi điều gian ác.”)
> He will forgive our sins, heal our sickness and create in us a new heart to fight against the temptations next time. (Chúa sẽ tha thứ c/ta, chữa lành bệnh tật tâm linh, và tái tạo trong c/ta một trái tim mới, sẽ biết chiến đấu với những sự cám dỗ.)

# Then start developing a solid prayer lifestyle, get rid all pro-visions of the flesh, and trust God to provide an “exit” all the times so you can get out of all temptations. (Muốn như vậy thì c/ta phải có chương trình cầu nguyện mỗi ngày, phải loại bỏ những cánh cửa có thể dẫn c/ta đến sự phạm tội, và phải bắt lầy con đường thoát Chúa Thánh Linh chỉ cho.)
> May God help us all to live a victorious life by learning to avoid and to overcome all the temptations. Amen! (Nguyện xin Thần Linh Ngài giúp mỗi c/ta sống một đời sống chiến thắng bằng cách học và thực hành những phương pháp tránh xa và vượt qua tất cả những cám dỗ.)

> We will never know/taste what true freedom is, if we are living in slavery of sins.
# I look back into my past, I regret so many times I yielded to temptations and dealed with the painful, miserable consequences of sins. It was not worth it, compared with the peace and joy I have with Jesus and walking in His truths.
> Why do we fall into temptations?
# We don’t see sins as God defines?
# We live carelessly, we underestimate the consequences of sins?
# We are getting too close to the edges? We are playing with sins?
# We do not have a prayer time each day?
# We do not guard doors that can invite temptations to enter into our heart and mind?
# We do not recognize the exits that the Holy Spirit convict us?
> Are you winning or loosing the temptation battle?
> God is faithfull to provide an escape route to get out of temptations if we take it.
> Do you want to live a victorious life glorifying God?
# You must start your morning with prayer and end your day with prayer.
# You must exam your life and close all doors that allow temptations to enter.
# You must learn to use your weapon which is the words of God.
# You must take the exit that God opens when you face temptations.
> You must put the truths you have learned today into practice; if not, things will be the same next week. You will continue to be in slavery of sins.
> Start living freely, start living victoriously.
Overcoming Temptations
God is very serious about sins and He hates them. Why? 1) Sins oppose to His holiness attributes. Sins mock God’s characters; 2) Sins separate God’s creation - mankind created in His own image - from Himself; 3) Sins allure God’s people to the destruction of eternal death, and rob their blessings of peace and joy; 4) Sins hinder God’s people from doing His will to become what He wants us to be. God will judge sins, because He is a “consuming fire.” Jesus, God’s Son is very serious about sins. One of Jesus’ strongest teachings is about “getting rid” all the sources causing us to sin in Matthew 5:29. One of the important things Jesus taught His disciples to pray is to be delivered from temptations causing us to sin against God. We all need to be very serious about sins and their consequences. To be serious, we must first see sins as God sees them. Why do we sin? We sin when we fall into temptations. So to be serious about sins, we need to learn how to avoid and overcome all the temptations.
First, no one is spare of temptations as we live in this world. Never say that I will not be tempted. Temptation is a part of everyday life, because the world we are living in is a sinful & fallen world! Secondly, temptations come to us in many different shapes and sizes. Satan sits, studies our habits, waits and then he casts the right kind of temptations to allure us into sinning. Satan knows our desires and he will cast temptations that appeal to our lusts of the flesh. Worse than that, temptations are readily available today in many easy ways with the hi-tech communication tools. One of obvious sources of temptations today is the WWW Internet. The devils have cleverly used it as a tool to cast their temptations such as pornography, luring so many people into sinning.
We know the problem, our enemy and their tactics; the next question – how can we overcome temptations?
1) The most effective way is to maintain a solid prayer lifestyle. We must learn from Jesus’ life on how He always overcame temptations. Jesus started His ministry with prayer, ended His mission with prayer, and plenty of praying in between. For that reason, He completed the redemptive work that His Father sent Him into the world to do. When we deal with temptations, it’s not a matter of how big are your muscles, but how strong are your “knees,” meaning a lifestyle of prayer.
2) Guard yourself from all provisions of the flesh. We live daily so carelessly, by opening many doors wide, for temptations to come in. The biggest door we open today I believe is the electronic stuffs, from IPod, TV, computers, video games… No one wants to get in troubles, but the problem is how many of us live everyday plan NOT to be tempted? Don’t forget the most effective way to fight against temptations is to pray that we will not have to fight them! Do not get too close to the edges of temptations that God has no “room” to help us.

Then start developing a solid prayer lifestyle, get rid all pro-visions of the flesh, and trust God to provide an “exit” all the times so you can get out of all temptations.
