Luca 12:34
“Vì của báu các ngươi ở đâu, thì lòng cũng ở đó.”
(For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.)
I. Earthly Treasures
> Do you have any treasures? (Bạn có những của báu nào không?) What are they? (Những của báu đó là những thứ gì?)
# May be a diamond ring, a beautiful home, a nice car, money in the bank, a winning trophy, a lovely pet... (Một chiếc nhẫn kim cương, một căn nhà đẹp, một chiếc xe sang, tiền trong nhà bank, một cái cup giải thưởng vô địch, hay một con vật mình nuôi và quí mến…)
> Why do you call them treasures? (Tại sao đây là những của báu của bạn?)
> They may have high values in the market. (Có thể vì những thứ này có gía trị cao trong thị trường)
# Last week on Internet showed a couple found a 2-carrat diamond ring at the park. It is not trash! (Mấy ngày qua trên Internet đăng có một cặp vợ chồng lượm được một hột xòan 2 carrat tại một công viên.)
> Some of treasures may not have high money value, but they mean so much to you; For example, Daniel and Erica’s toys lost due to the historic flood a month ago may not worth much money, but these toys were their treasures. They do not even care what car their parents driving. (Có những thứ không có đắt tiền, những là của báu đối với một số người. Cháu Đaniên và Êrica mất một số đồ chơi qua cơn lụt, những món đồ chơi chẳng đáng gía là bao nhiêu, nhưng thật quí gía đối với 2 cháu như một của báu.)
# They are treasures because they make us feel happy, important, famous, self-respect, bring us comfort and meaning to our life… (Những của báu này có gía trị vì nó làm cho c/ta vui sướng, thỏa mãn, thấy mình được xem là quan trọng, nổi tiếng, hãnh diện, và đem đến ý nghĩa gì đó cho cuộc sống.)
# A championship NFL ring is precious because not many people in this world can have. (Chiếc nhẫn vô địch của môn thể thao Footballl rất là quí gía, bởi vì ít ai có được trên trần gian này.)
# With the population of US of more than 300 million people, there is only one person be selected as the president – that role is a special treasure. (Với dân số hơn 300 triệu người trong nước Mỹ, chức vụ được làm tổng thống là một điều quí gía vì chỉ có một người được chọn mà thôi.)
> Third question - What is the long lasting value of your treasures? (Câu hỏi nữa – gía trị lâu dài của những của báu của bạn là bao lâu?)
> Will they last longer than your life? (Nó có gía trị lâu dài hơn là sự sống của bạn không?)
# If you die right now, can you bring them with you, or they will become nothing to you in the next life? (Nếu bạn qua đời hôm nay thì bạn có thể đem những của báu này với bạn không, hay là những thứ này sẽ trở nên vô nghĩa cho bạn trong cuộc đời sau không?)
# Paul teaching in 1 Timothy 6:7 reminds us that “we are all born naked, then we will return to dust naked – there is nothing we can take out of this world to bring with us into the next life.” (Phaolô dạy trong 1 Timôthê 6:7 đó là mỗi người c/ta sanh ra đời trần truồng, không đem gì đến, thì khi qua đời c/ta cũng chẳng đem gì đi theo được với mình.)
> Have you seen a hearse pulling behind a U-haul? (Bạn có bao giờ thấy một chiếc xe chở quan tài mà còn kéo theo sau một xe chở đồ đạc không?)
> Don’t you know that dead people clothes don’t have inside pockets? (Bạn có biết là trong nhà quàn người ta mặc đồ những xác chết mà túi không có lỗ không, vì không ai mang theo gì được.)
> If your earthly treasures do not have long-lasting values then should we spend all our energy and time to store them that we know we cannot bring with us? (Nếu biết gía trị của những của báu trên thế gian này như vậy thì c/ta có nên bỏ tất cả thì giờ và sức lực để thâu trữ những thứ này mà c/ta không đem theo được sau khi chết sao?)
# Jesus told the parable of a rich farmer in Luke 12:16-20 to teach this important lesson – “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ 18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” (Chúa Giê-xu có dạy một ẩn dụ về một người nông dân giàu có trong sách Luca 12:16-20 như sau: “Ruộng của một người giàu kia sinh lợi nhiều lắm, 17 người bèn tự nghĩ rằng: Ta phải làm thể nào? Vì không có đủ chỗ chứa hết sản vật. 18 Lại nói: Nầy, việc ta sẽ làm: ta phá cả kho tàng và cất cái khác lớn hơn, thâu trữ sản vật và gia tài vào đó; 19 rồi sẽ nói với linh hồn ta rằng: Linh hồn ơi, mầy đã được nhiều của để dành dùng lâu năm; thôi, hãy nghỉ, ăn uống, và vui vẻ. 20 Song Đức Chúa Trời phán cùng người rằng: Hỡi kẻ dại! Chính đêm nay linh hồn ngươi sẽ bị đòi lại; vậy những của cải ngươi đã sắm sẵn sẽ thuộc về ai?”)
> Jesus did not deny the earthly values, but He questioned their worth for the next life to come – Can the earthly treasures exchange for your soul in eternity? (Chúa Giê-xu không có từ chối gía trị tạm thời của vật chất, nhưng Ngài đặt câu hỏi những của báu vật chất này có đổi chác cho linh hồn của mình được gì không trong thế giới đời đời?)
# Everyone knows that after death, our body will decay, and only our soul will last to enter the other side, where material things do not have any value anymore. (Ai trong c/ta cũng biết sau khi chết thì thân thể c/ta sẽ bị mục nát, chỉ còn linh hồn thì tồn tại để bước qua phía bên kia cuộc đời, mà c/ta không đem gì theo với mình được.)
II. Treasures Stored in the Heart
> So we must recognize the true value of life eternal treasures and store them in our heart. (Như vậy c/ta phải nhận biết gía trị của các của báu đời đời mà giữ kỹ trong lòng mình.)
1) Only the heart, not the intellectual mind that can see the unseen and eternal treasures. (Chỉ có tấm lòng, chứ không phải trí tuệ mới có thể thấy được những của báu mà mắt không thấy được.)
> The knowledge of our mind can only response to what we can see, feel and touch, but not the unseen that is eternal. (Trí tuệ chỉ có thể đáp ứng với những điều mắt mình thấy, tai mình nghe và tay mình sờ được, chứ không thể thấy những gía trị tìm ẩn mắt không thấy được.)
# In 2 Corinthians 4:18 the apostle Paul said – “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (Kinh Thánh chép: “bởi chúng ta chẳng chăm sự thấy được, nhưng chăm sự không thấy được; vì những sự thấy được chỉ là tạm thời, mà sự không thấy được là đời đời không cùng vậy.”)
> The inner of the heart where our faith dwells that can see the eternal values that our eyes do not yet see, or even our mind cannot completely understand. (Tấm lòng bên trong có đức tin ngự trị thì có thể thấy được những của báu đời đời mà mắt thường không thể thấy được, kể cả những điều huyền bí mà trí tuệ không thể hiểu hết được.)
> That is exactly how faith is defined. (Thử hỏi đức tin là gì?)
# Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Trong Kinh Thánh định: “đức tin là sự biết chắc vững vàng của những điều mình đang trông mong là bằng cớ của những điều mình chẳng xem thấy.”)
> When we say we have faith in our heart – that means we wait for the promised blessing, the eternal treasures that our eyes have not yet seen. (Khi mình nói mình có đức tin trong lòng có nghĩa là mình đang chờ đợi phước lành, của báu đời đời mà mắt c/ta chưa thấy.)
2) Only what stays in our heart can drive/motivate our life on all of what we think, say, and act. (Chỉ có những gì ở trong lòng c/ta thì mới thúc đẩy c/ta trong mọi sự suy nghĩ, lời nói và hành động phát ra bên ngoài.)
# In Luke 6:45 Jesus said - “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Chúa Giê-xu đã phán: “Người lành bởi lòng chứa điều thiện mà phát ra điều thiện, kẻ dữ bởi lòng chứa điều ác mà phát ra điều ác; vì do sự đầy dẫy trong lòng mà miệng nói ra.”)
> If a person heart stores only the desire of pursuing the earthy values, then he will spend all of his energy and time in this world to become rich and famous, by gathering earthly treasures and to enjoy all pleasures. (Nếu tấm lòng của một người chỉ thấy những của báu vật chất tạm thời thì người đó sẽ bỏ hết năng lực và thì giờ để thâu nhặt những của báu ở đời này, đó là sự giàu có, quyền thế, danh vọng và lo hưởng thụ những thú vui ở đời này.)
> But if a person heart focuses on eternity, his life will seek and search for the eternal treasures beyond this earthly life. (Nhưng nếu lòng của một người chú tâm đến sự đời đời, thì người đó sẽ tìm những của báu vượt qúa khỏi thế giới này nữa.)
> Where you invest in life depends on what desire you have in your heart. (Cuộc sống của một người đầu tư trong những công việc gì ở đời này sẽ tùy thuộc vào tấm lòng của người đó đang chứa những gì?)
3) Only what in the heart that moth and rust cannot destroy. (Chỉ có những của báu trong lòng thì mối và sự rỉ sét không thể đụng đến mà phá hủy được.)
# When we talk about moth and rust, I remember a story about a rich man who loved his classic Cadilac so much that he said after he died, family members should not buy a coffin for him, but just burry him with the car. (Khi nói đến “rỉ sét làm hư”… tôi nhớ đến một câu chuyện có lần đăng trên tờ báo về một người nhà giàu; Ông rât yêu chuộng chiếc xe Classic Cadilac của mình… cho nên có nói trước là sau khi ông chết, thì gia đình không có mua quan tài… nhưng để xác ông trong chiếc xe Cadilac và chôn luôn chiếc xe chung với ông.)
> Do you think he was able to drive his car any where down there; or if you dig it up today, it is just a pile of rusted metal? (Tưởng tượng xem người này sau khi chết có lái được chiếc xe của mình đi đâu không? Hay là nếu bây giờ người ta đào mộ ông lên… thì chỉ thấy còn một đống sắt rỉ sét thôi chăng?)
> What you can see with your eyes, moth and rust can touch and destroy, thief can steal, but not the treasures in your heart, even if you are bound in the prison. (Những điều gì bạn có thể thấy được thì mối và rỉ sét có thể đụng đến và phá hủy, kẻ trộm lấy được, nhưng của báu trong lòng thì không có gì đụng đến được, cho dù bạn có bị tù đầy đi nữa.)
> That’s why Jesus said: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Vì vậy mà Chúa Giê-xu đã dạy một chân lý tuyệt vời: “Vì của báu các ngươi ở đâu, thì lòng cũng ở đó.”)
> Whatever is in your heart will determine your eternity, your final destination, and your eternal treasures. (Những gì ở trong lòng của bạn sẽ định tương lai, định mệnh cuối cùng và của báu đời đời của mình.)
III. Eternal Life
> So what is the eternal treasure that we should place in our heart? (Như vậy của báu đời đời gì c/ta cần phải đặt và giữ kín trong lòng?)
> It is the eternal life in heaven that the eternal God has promised to give to all. (Của báu đời đời phải là sự sống đời đời trong nước thiên đàng mà Chúa đã hứa ban cho mọi người.)
> Why is this the eternal treasure that we should seek? (Tại sao nước thiên đàng là của báu đời đời mà c/ta phải tìm kiếm?)
> The reason is from Hebrews 9:27 – “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” (Bởi vì định luật căn bản theo lời Chúa có chép: “Theo như đã định cho loài người phải chết một lần, rồi chịu phán xét.”)
> Life is short and after comes judgment. (Sự sống thì ngắn ngủi, theo sau là sự chết và phán xét.)
1) First, death is a sure thing for everyone. (Sự chết là điều chắc chắn cho mọi người.)
> No matter how successful you are in this life, you will be defeated by the greatest enemy of death. (Cho dù bạn có thành công đến đâu đi nữa trong cuộc sống này, bạn sẽ bị thất bại bởi kẻ thù dữ nhất chính là sự chết.)
# Someone may live up to 100 years old without getting sick, but not to escape death. (Cho dù có người sống đến hơn 100 tuổi đi nữa mà chưa bao giờ bị bệnh, cũng sẽ không thaót khỏi tử thần một ngày.)
> Sometimes it comes suddenly, nobody really knows when it will strike. (Có khi tên tử thần nó đến gọi tên c/ta lúc mình không ngờ, và chưa sửa soạn chi hết.)
2) Secondly, after death, judgment is another sure thing to come. (Sau cái chết là sự phán xét cuối cùng.)
a) We are created from a holy and just God. (Con người c/ta được dựng nên bởi Đức Chúa Trời thánh khiết và công bình vẹn toàn.)
> What does it mean as God is perfectly holy? (Chúa thánh khiết vẹn toàn nghĩa là sao?)
# It can be explained God is holy means “No unconfessed sins that can escape His eyes; and no sinner can escape His judgment.” (Chúa Thánh Khiết và công bình vẹn toàn nghĩa là không có một tội nào thoát khỏi mắt Chúa và không có kẻ tội nhân nào thoát khỏi sự phán xét của Ngài.)
> If God forgets one sin or skips to judge one sinner then He is not a true and holy God after all. He is not then a God of omnipotent and omniscient - all knowing. (Nếu có tội nào mà Chúa quên hay tội nhân nào mà Chúa không biết thì thật Chúa chẳng phải là Chúa quyền năng và là Đấng biết mọi sự.)
b) The problem is that we are all sinners, because we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Vấn đề ở đây đó là mọi người hết thảy trong c/ta ai cũng là kẻ tội nhân.)
> We may compare with others and conclude that we are “cleaner, better, more educated, going to church, do charity deeds,” but before a holy God if we committed one sin, that is more than qualified us as a sinner, be separated from Him. (C/ta có thể so sánh với những người khác và thấy mình tốt hơn, thánh hơn, hiểu biết hơn, đi nhà thờ nhiều hơn, làm việc thiện nhiều hơn, nhưng trước mặt Chúa Thánh Khiết nếu mình chỉ phạm một tội thôi cũng đủ để định c/ta là kẻ tội nhân, phải bị xa cách Ngài đời đời.)
> The Bible reminds us that we carried the sinful nature from our first ancestors Adam & Eve who were committed only one sin of disobedience and their whole descendants become sinners. (Kinh Thánh nhắc mỗi người c/ta mang bản tánh tội lỗi của tổ phụ loài người là Ađam và Êva mà đã chỉ phạm nghịch cùng Chúa có một tội không vâng lời mà thôi.)
> We also sin because we break the laws of God: Lying, stealing, committing adultery, disrespecting parents, being greedy… (C/ta phạm tội khi làm những điều gian ác đi ngược với những tiêu chuẩn thánh khiết của Ðấng Sáng Tạo, như là nói dối, ăn cắp, tà dâm, tham lam của người khác, không hiếu kính cha mẹ...)
> We sin not just breaking the laws of God, but because we have not done all good deeds, and the greastest deed is not seeking God and worship Him. (Không phải khi mình làm điều ác mới là phạm tội mà thôi... nhưng tiêu chuẩn phạm tội là khi c/ta chưa làm trọn mọi điều lành... và 1 trong những điều lành quan trọng nhất là không tìm kiếm Chúa (Ðấng Cội Nguồn) để tôn thờ và hầu việc.)
> All of our good works mean nothing to God to be counted as righteousness, just as Isaiah 64:6 said – “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;” (Mọi công đức của mỗi c/ta cộng lại chỉ là vô ích mà thôi, chẳng thể nào làm cho c/ta trở nên công bình trọn vẹn, như sách Êsai 64:6 chép: "Chúng tôi hết thảy đã trở nên như vật ô uế, mọi việc công bình của chúng tôi như áo nhớp...")
# A parable of a religious man died and went to heaven. He saw saint Peter at the heaven gate checking the passes to enter. (Câu chuyện huyền thoại của một người đàn ông rất đạo đức qua đời và được đứng trước cửa thiên đàng... gặp được sứ đồ Phiêrơ đứng xét vé.) Peter asked the man: “I have to exam your life on earth; if you can meet the perfect score of 100,000 points then you can come in. (Phiêrơ nói: "Tôi phải kiểm tra lối sống của ông khi còn ở dưới trần gian... nếu đủ 100,000 điểm thì sẽ được vào thiên đàng." The man proudly said: “You don’t have to worry because I was very religious. I went to church each week; I was even a teacher of the Bible for more than 40 years. (Người đàn ông tự hào & nói: "tôi là một người rất đạo đức ông khỏi lo; Trước đây tôi đi nhà thờ mỗi tuần, là giáo sư dạy học Kinh Thánh trên 40 năm nay.) Peter said: “Ok, you get 1 point.” (Phiêrơ nói: "OK, thế thì ông được 1 điểm.") The man surprised and continued: “I was a faithful husband and gơd father; I never had any affair and always taught my children good and moral things. (Người đàn ông ngạc nhiên nói tiếp: "tôi là 1 người chồng và 1 người cha rất gương mẫu, chưa bao giờ "lăng nhăn" với ai cả & lúc nào cũng dạy dỗ đạo đức lễ độ cho con cái tôi." Peter said: “OK, you get 1 more point.” (Phiêrơ nói: "OK, được thêm 1 điểm.") The man begun to worry and said: “I gave offerings every week; I helped building many churches.” (Người đàn ông thấy lo lắng & bắt đầu nói tiếp: "tôi dâng hiến nhà thờ mỗi tuần... đã giúp đỡ tài chánh để xây nhiều nhà thờ ở bên Viêt-nam và nhiều chỗ.") Peter said: “You get another point.” (Phiêrơ nói: "OK, được thêm 1 điểm.") The man begun to shake and said: “I was a deacon in my church and a right-hand man of the pastor.” (Người đàn ông bắt đầu run rẩy nói tiếp: "Tôi giữ chức vụ chấp sự trong nhà thờ, là cánh tay phải của vị Mục Sư trên 10 năm qua.") Peter said: “You get ½ of the point.” (Phiêrơ nói tiếp: "OK, được thêm 1/2 điểm.") For a long time, the man tried to come up with all of his good works, but only got maximum 5 points. (Sau một hồi lâu – người đàn ông cố gắng moi móc ra tất cả những công đức tốt lành của mình... nhưng chỉ được có 5 điểm.") Finally, he exhausted and said: “If it is that much difficult then who can enter heaven; I guess the only way to enter heaven is to ask the merciful God to let me in. (Ông rất thất vọng & thốt lên: "Khó như vậy thì ai mà có đủ điểm... để vào được nước thiên đàng đây... chắc chỉ phải nhờ ơn của Đức Chúa Trời mà thôi." Peter heard that and shouted: “That worths 100,000 points. Amen!” (Sứ đồ Phiêrơ nghe vậy bèn la lớn tiếng: "Ðiều đó đáng được 100,000 điểm!")
> Every of our good works will never be enough; we can only ask God to forgive our sins and save us from the judgment of hell. (Mọi công đức ngàn đời, ngàn kiếp của c/ta cộng lại vẫn không đủ... có nghĩa là vẫn thiếu, c/ta chỉ có thể nhờ cậy Chúa mà được cứu thôi.)
c) Hell is the eternal punishment waiting for all sinners. (Địa ngục là nơi mọi kẻ tội nhân sẽ bị phán xét đời đời.)
# The parable of the Sheep and Goats in Gospel of Matthew 25 teaches that God will judge in the last day by separating the righteous from the unrighteous, sinners from unbelievers, and God will pour out His wrath against the unrighteous in hell. (Trong ẩn dụ của Chúa Giê-xu về Chiên và Dê có dạy về sự phán xét cuối cùng trong ngày tận thế khi Ngài sẽ phân chia ra chiên và dê, người được xưng công bình và kẻ có tội, và Chúa sẽ đổ cơn thạnh nộ của Ngài trên những kẻ không công bình trong địa ngục.)
> Hell according to Jesus is a lake of fire, eternal fire that is never quenched, outer darkness – eternal separation from God, the place where the worm does not die, and the place of wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Theo như Chúa Giê-xu dạy địa ngục là một hồ lửa cháy không hề tắt, nơi tối tăm bên ngoài bị xa cách khỏi mặt Chúa đời đời, nơi mà sâu bọ chẳng hề chết, nơi mà có sự nghiến răng đau đớn đời đời.)
> In Revelation 14:11 says that hell is the eternal punishment without any rest – “And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” (Địa ngục là nơi không bao giờ có sự yên nghỉ như có nói trước trong sách Khải Huyền 14:11 – “Khói của sự đau đớn chúng nó bay lên đời đời. Những kẻ thờ lạy con thú và tượng nó, cùng những kẻ chịu dấu của tên nó ghi, thì cả ngày lẫn đêm không lúc nào được yên nghỉ.”)
> This truth about hell should make us fearing God and repent our sins. (Lẽ thật này về hỏa ngục phải làm cho c/ta hết thảy kính sợ Chúa mà mau ăn năn hối cãi tội lỗi của mình.)
3) But thank God Who is loving to forgive our sins and gives us the eternal treasure of eternal life in His heavenly kingdom without any condition. (Nhưng cảm tạ Chúa là Đấng yêu thương, sẵn sàng tha thứ hết thảy tội lỗi của c/ta và ban cho c/ta của báu là sự sống đời đời trong nước thiên đàng của Ngài mà không đòi hỏi một điều kiện nào.)
> How does God do that? (Chúa đã làm gì để c/ta có được của báu này?)
a) John 3:16 summarizes His plan to save us – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (Trong Giăng 3:16 đúc kết chương trình của Chúa để cứu c/ta như sau: “Vì Đức Chúa Trời yêu thương thế gian, đến nỗi đã ban Con một của Ngài, hầu cho hễ ai tin Con ấy không bị hư mất mà được sự sống đời đời.”)
> God forgives us our sins by sending His only Son from heaven down to earth to shed His sinless blood on the cross almost 2,000 years ago because none of us can save ourselves. (Chúa tha thứ tội lỗi của c/ta bằng cách sai Con Ngài từ thiên đàng đến thế gian, đổ huyết trên cây thập tự gần 2,000 năm trước đây, để chuộc tội cho c/ta, vì mỗi người c/ta không thể tự cứu mình được.)
> Sins is something that we cannot use the “detergent” of good works or earthy treasures to wash, to trade, to buy them out, no matter how valuable earthly treasures we accumulate. (Tôi lỗi không thể nào được sạch bởi dùng những thứ “xà bong” bằng công đức từ thiện hay của cải vật chất ở trên đời này được.)
> Only the sinless blood of God’s Son came from heaven can wash away our sins so that we are spared by the punishment of the eternal hell. (Chỉ có huyết vô tội của Con Đức Chúa Trời mới có thể làm sạch mọi tội của những kẻ tin, mà không còn sự phán xét của hình phạt địa ngục nữa.)
b) And by believing in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, not just our sins are forgiven, but we are declared to be righteous to enter God’s kingdom of heaven. (Chỉ bởi đặt lòng tin cậy nơi Con Trời, Cứu Chúa Giê-xu, c/ta mới được sạch mọi tội và được xưng công bình, mà có đủ điều kiện được vào nước thiên đàng.)
> No one can enter the heaven without becoming perfectly righteous, because God is righteous and perfect. (Không một ai được vào thiên đàng mà trước hết chưa được xưng công bình và sạch tội, bởi vì Đức Chúa Trời là Đấng thánh khiết công bình trọn vẹn.)
# We all know that it is impossible for anyone who can roam the white house as he pleases without meeting certain strict conditions? In fact, today there is no longer tourists that can tour the White House due to high security. > The treasure is in heaven – the eternal life with God in His kingdom.
> God gives this treasure freely to everyone without any conditions, or requiring any good works.
> God prepares the way for us to enter His kingdom according to His perfect standard.
> That perfect standard is through the sacrifice of His Son to cleanse all our sins and to justify us as His righteous children.
> Only through Jesus Christ, you can enter heaven freely; there is no other way.
> You are the treasure that God seeks by sending His Son into this world to die for your sins.
> God loves you; He never wants you to end up in hell, but to live eternally with Him in heaven.

Heart Treasures
Luke 12:34
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Do you have any treasures? May be a diamond ring, a beautiful home, a nice car, money in the bank, a winning trophy, or a lovely pet... Why do you call them treasures? They are treasures because they make you feel happy, important, bring comfort and meaning to your life. What is the long lasting value of your treasures? Will they last longer than your life? If you die right now, can you bring them with you, or they will become nothing to you in the next life? If your earthly treasures do not have long-lasting values, then should we spend all our energy and time to store them that we know we cannot bring with us?
We must recognize the true value of life eternal treasures and store them in our heart. Only the heart, not the intellectual mind can see the unseen and eternal treasures. The knowledge of our mind can only response to what we can see, feel and touch, but not the unseen that is eternal. The inner of the heart where our faith dwells can see the eternal values that our eyes do not yet see, or treasures that our mind cannot completely understand. When we say we have faith in our heart – that means we wait for the promised blessing, the eternal treasures that our eyes have not yet seen. Only what stays in our heart can drive our life on all of what we think, say, and act. If a person heart stores only the desire of pursuing the earthy values, then he will spend all of his energy and time in this world to become rich and famous by gathering earthly treasures and to enjoy all pleasures. But if a person heart focuses on eternity, his life will seek and search for the eternal treasures beyond this earthly life. Where you invest in life depends on what desire you have in your heart. Only what in the heart that moth and rust cannot destroy or thief cannot steal. That’s why Jesus said: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Whatever is in your heart will determine your eternity, your final destination, and your eternal treasures.
So what is the eternal treasure that we should place in our heart? It is the eternal life in heaven that the eternal God has promised to give to all. Why is this the eternal treasure that we should seek? The reason is from Hebrews 9:27 – “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” Life is short and after comes judgment. First, death is a sure thing for everyone. No matter how successful you are in this life, you will be defeated by the greatest enemy of death. Secondly, after death, judgment is another sure thing to come. We are created from a holy and just God. What does it mean as God is perfectly holy? It can be explained God is holy means “No unconfessed sins that can escape His eyes; and no sinner can escape His judgment.” The problem is that we are all sinners, because we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We may compare with others and conclude that we are “cleaner, better, more educated, going to church, do charity deeds,” but before a holy God if we committed one sin, that is more than qualified us as a sinner, be separated from Him. The Bible reminds us that we carried the sinful nature from our first ancestors Adam & Eve who were committed only one sin of disobedience and their whole descendants become sinners. We also sin because we break the laws of God: Lying, stealing, committing adultery, disrespecting parents, being greedy… We sin not just breaking the laws, but because we have not done all good deeds, and the greatest deed is not seeking God and worship Him. Hell is the eternal punishment waiting for all sinners. The parable of the Sheep and Goats in Gospel of Matthew 25 teaches that God will judge in the last day by separating the righteous from the unrighteous, sinners from unbelievers, and God will pour out His wrath against the unrighteous in hell. Hell according to Jesus is a lake of fire, eternal fire that is never quenched, outer darkness – eternal separation from God, the place where the worm does not die, and the place of wailing and gnashing of teeth. In Revelation 14:11 says that hell is the eternal punishment without any rest – “And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” But thank God Who is loving to forgive our sins and gives us the eternal treasure of eternal life in His heavenly kingdom without any condition. How does God do that? John 3:16 summarizes His plan to save us – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God forgives us our sins by sending His only Son from heaven down to earth to shed His sinless blood on the cross almost 2,000 years ago because none of us can save ourselves. Sins is something that we cannot use the “detergent” of good works or earthy treasures to wash, to trade, or to buy them out, no matter how valuable earthly treasures we accumulate. Only the sinless blood of God’s Son came from heaven can wash away our sins so that we cannot be punished by the eternal hell. And by believing in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, not just our sins are forgiven but we are declared to be righteous to enter God’s kingdom of heaven. No one can enter the heaven without becoming perfectly righteous, because God is righteous and perfect. That is why Jesus is the only One who claimed “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
